2023-12-13net: ethtool: pass a pointer to parameters to get/set_rxfh ethtool opsAhmed Zaki1-7/+10
The get/set_rxfh ethtool ops currently takes the rxfh (RSS) parameters as direct function arguments. This will force us to change the API (and all drivers' functions) every time some new parameters are added. This is part 1/2 of the fix, as suggested in [1]: - First simplify the code by always providing a pointer to all params (indir, key and func); the fact that some of them may be NULL seems like a weird historic thing or a premature optimization. It will simplify the drivers if all pointers are always present. - Then make the functions take a dev pointer, and a pointer to a single struct wrapping all arguments. The set_* should also take an extack. 2023-12-06net: hns: fix wrong head when modify the tx feature when sending packetsYonglong Liu2-23/+33
Upon changing the tx feature, the hns driver will modify the maybe_stop_tx() and fill_desc() functions, if the modify happens during packet sending, will cause the hardware and software pointers do not match, and the port can not work anymore. This patch deletes the maybe_stop_tx() and fill_desc() functions modification when setting tx feature, and use the skb_is_gro() to determine which functions to use in the tx path. 2023-09-20net: ethernet: hisilicon: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König2-7/+4
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert these drivers from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2023-07-27net: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring2-7/+0
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. Before adding yet another possibly contended atomic_long_t, it is time to add per-cpu storage for existing ones: dev->tx_dropped, dev->rx_dropped, and dev->rx_nohandler Because many devices do not have to increment such counters, allocate the per-cpu storage on demand, so that dev_get_stats() does not have to spend considerable time folding zero counters. hns_dsaf_ge_srst_by_port() The if statement: if (port >= DSAF_GE_NUM) return; limits the value of port less than DSAF_GE_NUM (i.e., 8). However, if the value of port is 6 or 7, an array overflow could occur: port_rst_off = dsaf_dev->mac_cb[port]->port_rst_off; because the length of dsaf_dev->mac_cb is DSAF_MAX_PORT_NUM (i.e., 6). To fix this possible array overflow, we first check port and if it is greater than or equal to DSAF_MAX_PORT_NUM, the function returns. This big patch sprinkles const on local variables and function arguments which may refer to netdev->dev_addr. Commit 406f42fa0d3c ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. Some of the changes here are not strictly required - const is sometimes cast off but pointer is not used for writing. It seems like it's still better to add the const in case the code changes later or relevant -W flags get enabled for the build. No functional changes. 2021-10-12net: hns: Prefer struct_size over open coded arithmeticLen Baker3-5/+4
As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes, and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar) function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors. So, take the opportunity to refactor the hnae_handle structure to switch the last member to flexible array, changing the code accordingly. Also, fix the comment in the hnae_vf_cb structure to inform that the ae_handle member must be the last member. Then, use the struct_size() helper to do the arithmetic instead of the argument "size + count * size" in the kzalloc() function. This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle and audited and fixed manually. fwnode_get_mac_address() and device_get_mac_address() return a pointer to the buffer that was passed to them on success or NULL on failure. None of the callers care about the actual value, only if it's NULL or not. These semantics differ from of_get_mac_address() which returns an int so to avoid confusion make the device helpers return an errno. Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP. Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands. This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find their way through the implementation.
