2022-03-18media: media/*/Kconfig: sort entriesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-14/+13
Currently, the idems inside media Kconfig are out of order. Sort them using the script below: <script> use strict; use warnings; my %config; my @source; my $out; sub flush_config() { if (scalar %config) { for my $c (sort keys %config) { $out .= $config{$c} . "\n"; } %config = (); } return if (!scalar @source); $out .= "\n"; for my $s (sort @source) { $out .= $s; } $out .= "\n"; @source = (); } sub sort_kconfig($) { my $fname = shift; my $cur_config = ""; @source = (); $out = ""; %config = (); open IN, $fname or die; while (<IN>) { if (m/^config\s+(.*)/) { $cur_config = $1; $config{$cur_config} .= $_; } elsif (m/^source\s+(.*)/) { push @source, $_; } elsif (m/^\s+/) { if ($cur_config eq "") { $out .= $_; } else { $config{$cur_config} .= $_; } } else { flush_config(); $cur_config = ""; $out .= $_; } } close IN or die; flush_config(); $out =~ s/\n\n+/\n\n/g; $out =~ s/\n+$/\n/; open OUT, ">$fname"; print OUT $out; close OUT; } for my $fname(@ARGV) { sort_kconfig $fname } </script> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <[email protected]>
2022-03-18media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-48/+48
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations. 2020-04-14media: docs: move user-facing docs to the admin guideMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
Most of the driver-specific documentation is meant to help users of the media subsystem. Move them to the admin-guide. It should be noticed, however, that several of those files are outdated and will require further work in order to make them useful again. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <[email protected]>

Checkpatch wants to use 'help' instead of '---help---': WARNING: prefer 'help' over '---help---' for new help texts Let's change it globally at the media subsystem, as otherwise people would keep using the old way. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <[email protected]>

2017-09-23media: fix media Kconfig help syntax issuesHans Verkuil1-8/+8
The help text should be indented by at least two spaces after the 'help' separator. This is both good practice and the media_build system for building media drivers makes this assumption. I went through all Kconfigs under drivers/media and fixed any bad help sections. This makes it conform to the common practice and should fix problems with 'make menuconfig' when using media_build. This is due to a "WARNING" message that media_build can insert in the Kconfig and that assumes the help text is indented by at least two spaces. If not, then the Kconfig becomes invalid and 'make menuconfig' fails. 2015-03-03[media] media: fix gspca drivers build dependenciesRandy Dunlap1-0/+1
Several (15) drivers in media/usb/gspca use IF_ENABLED(CONFIG_INPUT) to decide if they should call input* interfaces, but those drivers do not build successfully when CONFIG_INPUT=m and the gspca drivers are builtin (=y). Making USB_GSPCA depend on INPUT || INPUT=n fixes the build dependencies and allows all of them to build cleanly. Fixes these build errors (selections, not all are listed): drivers/built-in.o: In function `gspca_disconnect': (.text+0x32ed0f): undefined reference to `input_unregister_device' drivers/built-in.o: In function `sd_isoc_irq': konica.c:(.text+0x333098): undefined reference to `input_event' konica.c:(.text+0x3330ab): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o: In function `sd_stopN': konica.c:(.text+0x3338d3): undefined reference to `input_event' konica.c:(.text+0x3338e5): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o: In function `ov51x_handle_button': ov519.c:(.text+0x335ddb): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o:ov519.c:(.text+0x335ded): more undefined references to `input_event' follow pac7302.c:(.text+0x336ea1): undefined reference to `input_event' pac7302.c:(.text+0x336eb3): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o: In function `sd_pkt_scan': spca561.c:(.text+0x338fd8): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o:spca561.c:(.text+0x338feb): more undefined references to `input_event' follow t613.c:(.text+0x33a6fd): undefined reference to `input_event' drivers/built-in.o:t613.c:(.text+0x33a70f): more undefined references to `input_event' follow Signed-off-by: Randy Dunlap <[email protected]> Cc: Hans de Goede <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Hans de Goede <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <[email protected]>

2013-08-21[media] introduce gspca-stk1135: Syntek STK1135 driverOndrej Zary1-0/+9
Hello, this is a new gspca driver for Syntek STK1135 webcams. The code is completely new, but register values are based on Syntekdriver (stk11xx) by Nicolas VIVIEN (http://syntekdriver.sourceforge.net). Only one webcam type is supported now - vendor 0x174f, device 0x6a31. It's Asus F5RL laptop flippable webcam with MT9M112. The camera works better than in Windows - initializes much faster and provides more resolutions (the sensor can do almost any resolution - just add it to the stk1135_modes[] - could this feature be somehow used by applications to avoid SW scaling?). Autoflip works too - when the camera is flipped around, the image is flipped automatically.
