2024-08-23media: imx8mq-mipi-csi2: Switch to RUNTIME/SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS()Fabio Estevam1-9/+8
Replace SET_RUNTIME_PM_OPS()/SET SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS() with their modern RUNTIME_PM_OPS() and SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS() alternatives. The combined usage of pm_ptr() and RUNTIME_PM_OPS/SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS() allows the compiler to evaluate if the runtime suspend/resume() functions are used at build time or are simply dead code. This allows removing the __maybe_unused notation from the runtime suspend/resume() functions.. 2024-06-27media: imx-mipi-csis: Use v4l2_subdev_enable_streams()Laurent Pinchart1-7/+15
To support sources that implement the .enable_streams() and .disable_streams() operations, replace the manual calls to the subdev .s_stream() operation with the v4l2_subdev_enable_streams() and v4l2_subdev_disable_streams() helpers. The helpers fall back to .s_stream() if the source doesn't implement the new operations, so backward compatibility is preserved. 2024-06-21media: imx-jpeg: Drop initial source change event if capture has been setupMing Qian1-0/+3
In section 4.5.1.5. Initialization, the step 4 may be skipped and continue with the Capture Setup sequence, so if the capture has been setup, there is no need to trigger the initial source change event, just start decoding, and follow the dynamic resolution change flow if the configured values do not match those parsed by the decoder. And it won't fail the gstreamer pipeline. 2024-04-19media: mipi-csis: Emit V4L2_EVENT_FRAME_SYNC eventsStefan Klug1-1/+33
The Samsung CSIS MIPI receiver provides a start-of-frame interrupt and a framecount register. As the CSI receiver is the hardware unit that lies closest to the sensor, the frame counter is the best we can get on these devices. In case of the ISI available on the i.MX8 M Plus it is also the only native start-of-frame signal available. This patch exposes the sof interrupt and the framecount as V4L2_EVENT_FRAME_SYNC event on the subdevice. It was tested on a Debix-Som-A with a 6.8-rc4 kernel. 2024-02-28media: nxp: imx8-isi: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. This mxc-jpeg driver doesn't allow the client to set the bytesperline, but for some android cts case, it need to negotiate the bytesperline between decoder and display, and fail the case if driver doesn't support negotiating bytesperline The jpegdec and jpegenc does support to set bytesperline which is multiple of 2, and greater than the value calulated by driver. All the sink pads of the crossbar switch require an active link if they're part of the pipeline. Mark them with the MEDIA_PAD_FL_MUST_CONNECT flag to fail pipeline validation if they're not connected. This allows removing a manual check when translating streams. 2024-02-05media: nxp: imx8-isi: Check whether crossbar pad is non-NULL before accessMarek Vasut1-1/+7
When translating source to sink streams in the crossbar subdev, the driver tries to locate the remote subdev connected to the sink pad. The remote pad may be NULL, if userspace tries to enable a stream that ends at an unconnected crossbar sink. When that occurs, the driver dereferences the NULL pad, leading to a crash. Prevent the crash by checking if the pad is NULL before using it, and return an error if it is. 2023-12-09media: imx-mipi-csis: Drop extra clock enable at probe()Tomi Valkeinen1-11/+2
The driver always enables the clocks at probe() and disables them only at remove(). It is not clear why the driver does this, as it supports runtime PM, and enables and disables the clocks in the runtime resume and suspend callbacks. Also, in the case runtime PM is not available, the driver calls the resume and suspend callbacks manually from probe() and remove(). Drop the unnecessary clock enable, thus enabling the clocks only when actually needed. The driver always calls mipi_csis_runtime_suspend() and mipi_csis_clk_disable() in remove(). This causes multiple WARNs from the kernel, as the clocks get disabled too many times. Fix the remove() to call mipi_csis_runtime_suspend() and mipi_csis_clk_disable() in a way that reverses what is done in probe(). 2023-12-04media: v4l2-subdev: Rename .init_cfg() operation to .init_state()Laurent Pinchart5-15/+31
The subdev .init_cfg() operation is affected by two issues: - It has long been extended to initialize a whole v4l2_subdev_state instead of just a v4l2_subdev_pad_config, but its name has stuck around. - Despite operating on a whole subdev state and not being directly exposed to the subdev users (either in-kernel or through the userspace API), .init_cfg() is categorized as a subdev pad operation. This participates in making the subdev API confusing for new developers. Fix it by renaming the operation to .init_state(), and make it a subdev internal operation. After gstreamer rework the dynamic resolution change handling, gstreamer stop doing capture buffer allocation based on guesses and wait for the source change event when available. It requires driver always notify source change event in the initialization, even if the size parsed is equal to the size set on capture queue. otherwise, the pipeline will be stalled. Currently driver may not notify source change event if the parsed format and size are equal to those previously established, but it may stall the gstreamer pipeline. Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register. This is done in order to make struct device available earlier, during construction of the async connections, for sensible debug prints. V4L2 async sub-device matching originally used the device nodes only. Endpoint nodes were taken into use instead as using the device nodes was problematic for it was in some cases ambiguous which link might have been in question. There is however no need to use endpoint nodes on both sides, as the async sub-device's fwnode can always be trivially obtained using fwnode_graph_get_remote_endpoint() when needed while what counts is whether or not the link is between two device nodes, i.e. the device nodes match. This will briefly break the adv748x driver but it will be fixed later in the set, by patch "media: adv748x: Return to endpoint matching". The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. Apparently the only reason for the #ifdef is to avoid another warning: drivers/media/platform/nxp/imx8-isi/imx8-isi-hw.c:55:24: error: right shift count >= width of type [-Werror=shift-count-overflow] But this is best avoided by using the lower_32_bits()/upper_32_bits() helpers.
