As the end goal is to have platform drivers split by vendor,

Right now, platform dependencies are organized by the type of
the platform driver. Yet, things tend to become very messy with
time. The better seems to organize the drivers per manufacturer,
as other Kernel subsystems are doing.
As a preparation for such purpose, get rid of menuconfigs,
moving the per-menu dependencies to be at the driver-specifig
config entires.
This shoud give flexibility to reorganize the platform drivers
per manufacturer and re-sort them.
This patch removes all "if..endif" options from the platform
Kconfig, converting them into depends on.

platform_get_resource(pdev, IORESOURCE_IRQ, ..) relies on static
allocation of IRQ resources in DT core code, this causes an issue
when using hierarchical interrupt domains using "interrupts" property
in the node as this bypasses the hierarchical setup and messes up the
irq chaining.
In preparation for removal of static setup of IRQ resource from DT core
code use platform_get_irq_optional().
While at it, propagate error code in case devm_request_irq() fails
instead of returning -EINVAL.

The driver allocates and registers two platform device structures during
probe, but the devices were never deregistered on driver unbind.
This results in a use-after-free on driver unbind as the device
structures were allocated using devres and would be freed by driver
core when remove() returns.
Fix this by adding the missing deregistration calls to the remove()
callback and failing probe on registration errors.
Note that the platform device structures must be freed using a proper
release callback to avoid leaking associated resources like device
names.

The saa6588_ioctl() function expects to get called from other kernel
functions with a 'saa6588_command' pointer, but I found nothing stops it
from getting called from user space instead, which seems rather dangerous.
The same thing happens in the davinci vpbe driver with its VENC_GET_FLD
command.
As a quick fix, add a separate .command() callback pointer for this
driver and change the two callers over to that. This change can easily
get backported to stable kernels if necessary, but since there are only
two drivers, we may want to eventually replace this with a set of more
specialized callbacks in the long run.

The functions that add an async subdev to an async subdev notifier take
as an argument the size of the container structure they need to
allocate. This is error prone, as passing an invalid size will not be
caught by the compiler. Wrap those functions in macros that take a
container type instead of a size, and cast the returned pointer to the
desired type. The compiler will catch mistakes if the incorrect type is
passed to the macro, as the assignment types won't match.

Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2.
The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are
duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For
instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported
architectures.
Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils
down to, e.g.
static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address)
{
return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1);
}
static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address)
{
return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address);
}
These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided
XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined.
For architectures that really need a custom version there is always
possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic.
These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces
include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table
accessors to the new header.
This patch (of 12):
The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the
functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and
pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h>
in the files that include <linux/mm.h>.
The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop:
for f in $(git grep -l "include <linux/mm.h>") ; do
sed -i -e '/include <asm\/pgtable.h>/ d' $f
done

The v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_subdev() did not take a reference of
the added fwnode, relying on the caller to handle that instead, in essence
putting the fwnode to be added if there was an error.
As the reference is eventually released during the notifier cleanup, this
is not intuitive nor logical. Improve this by always getting a reference
when the function succeeds, and the caller releasing the reference when it
does not *itself* need it anymore.
Luckily, perhaps, there were just a handful of callers using the function.
