2024-02-08media: netup_unidvb: Follow renaming of SPI "master" to "controller"Uwe Kleine-König1-24/+24
In commit 8caab75fd2c2 ("spi: Generalize SPI "master" to "controller"") some functions and struct members were renamed. To not break all drivers compatibility macros were provided. To be able to remove these compatibility macros push the renaming into this driver. 2024-01-18Merge tag 'i2c-for-6.8-rc1-rebased' of ↵Linus Torvalds1-1/+1
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang: "This removes the currently unused CLASS_DDC support (controllers set the flag, but there is no client to use it). Also, CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the future. Class based instantiation is not recommended these days anyhow. Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter. Current bus driver users were converted to use it. Finally, quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the wmt-driver which is refactored to support more variants. This is the rebased pull request where a large series for the designware driver was dropped" * tag 'i2c-for-6.8-rc1-rebased' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux: (38 commits) MAINTAINERS: use proper email for my I2C work i2c: stm32f7: add support for stm32mp25 soc i2c: stm32f7: perform I2C_ISR read once at beginning of event isr dt-bindings: i2c: document st,stm32mp25-i2c compatible i2c: stm32f7: simplify status messages in case of errors i2c: stm32f7: perform most of irq job in threaded handler i2c: stm32f7: use dev_err_probe upon calls of devm_request_irq i2c: i801: Add lis3lv02d for Dell XPS 15 7590 i2c: i801: Add lis3lv02d for Dell Precision 3540 i2c: wmt: Reduce redundant: REG_CR setting i2c: wmt: Reduce redundant: function parameter i2c: wmt: Reduce redundant: clock mode setting i2c: wmt: Reduce redundant: wait event complete i2c: wmt: Reduce redundant: bus busy check i2c: mux: reg: Remove class-based device auto-detection support i2c: make i2c_bus_type const dt-bindings: at24: add ROHM BR24G04 eeprom: at24: use of_match_ptr() i2c: cpm: Remove linux,i2c-index conversion from be32 i2c: imx: Make SDA actually optional for bus recovering ...
2024-01-18media: netup_unidvb: Don't let i2c adapters declare I2C_CLASS_SPD support if ↵Heiner Kallweit1-1/+1
they support I2C_CLASS_HWMON After removal of the legacy eeprom driver the only remaining I2C client device driver supporting I2C_CLASS_SPD is jc42. Because this driver also supports I2C_CLASS_HWMON, adapters don't have to declare support for I2C_CLASS_SPD if they support I2C_CLASS_HWMON. It's one step towards getting rid of I2C_CLASS_SPD mid-term. 2023-05-14media: netup_unidvb: fix irq init by register it at the end of probeWei Chen1-8/+9
IRQ handler netup_spi_interrupt() takes spinlock spi->lock. The lock is initialized in netup_spi_init(). However, irq handler is registered before initializing the lock. Spinlock dma->lock and i2c->lock suffer from the same problem. Fix this by registering the irq at the end of probe. 2023-05-14media: netup_unidvb: fix use-after-free at del_timer()Duoming Zhou1-1/+1
When Universal DVB card is detaching, netup_unidvb_dma_fini() uses del_timer() to stop dma->timeout timer. But when timer handler netup_unidvb_dma_timeout() is running, del_timer() could not stop it. As a result, the use-after-free bug could happen. The process is shown below: (cleanup routine) | (timer routine) | mod_timer(&dev->tx_sim_timer, ..) netup_unidvb_finidev() | (wait a time) netup_unidvb_dma_fini() | netup_unidvb_dma_timeout() del_timer(&dma->timeout); | | ndev->pci_dev->dev //USE Fix by changing del_timer() to del_timer_sync(). The interrupt handling should be related to the firmware version. 2020-12-07media: netup_unidvb: Don't leak SPI master in probe error pathLukas Wunner1-2/+3
If the call to spi_register_master() fails on probe of the NetUP Universal DVB driver, the spi_master struct is erroneously not freed. Likewise, if spi_new_device() fails, the spi_controller struct is not unregistered. Plug the leaks. While at it, fix an ordering issue in netup_spi_release() wherein spi_unregister_master() is called after fiddling with the IRQ control register. The correct order is to call spi_unregister_master() *before* this teardown step because bus accesses may still be ongoing until that function returns. The .suspend() and .resume() callbacks are not defined for this driver. Thus, just the unlisting of PM pointers in the struct initializer will make no change in its behavior. Currently, the Kbuild core manipulates header search paths in a crazy way [1]. To fix this mess, I want all Makefiles to add explicit $(srctree)/ to the search paths in the srctree. Some Makefiles are already written in that way, but not all. The goal of this work is to make the notation consistent, and finally get rid of the gross hacks. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2017-09-23media: fix media Kconfig help syntax issuesHans Verkuil1-6/+6
The help text should be indented by at least two spaces after the 'help' separator. This is both good practice and the media_build system for building media drivers makes this assumption. I went through all Kconfigs under drivers/media and fixed any bad help sections. This makes it conform to the common practice and should fix problems with 'make menuconfig' when using media_build. This is due to a "WARNING" message that media_build can insert in the Kconfig and that assumes the help text is indented by at least two spaces. If not, then the Kconfig becomes invalid and 'make menuconfig' fails. 2017-06-20[media] dvb-frontends/cxd2841er: make call to i2c_gate_ctrl optionalDaniel Scheller1-1/+2
Some cards/bridges wrap i2c_gate_ctrl handling with a mutex_lock(). This is e.g. done in ddbridge to protect against concurrent tuner access with regards to the dual tuner HW, where concurrent tuner reconfiguration can result in tuning fails or bad reception quality. When the tuner driver additionally tries to open the I2C gate (which e.g. the tda18212 driver does) when the demod already did this, this will lead to a deadlock. This makes the calls to i2c_gatectrl from the demod driver optional when the flag is set, leaving this to the tuner driver. For readability reasons and to not have the check duplicated multiple times, the setup is factored into cxd2841er_tuner_set(). This commit also updates the netup card driver (which seems to be the only consumer of the cxd2841er as of now). 2015-12-18[media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setupHans Verkuil1-1/+0
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2 and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format. After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer, which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format. To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed: the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return -EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s). Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil@cisco.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>
