Commit d7d473d8464e ("drm/panel: sharp-lq101r1sx01: Don't call disable at shutdown/remove") had a subtle bug. We should be calling sharp_panel_del() when the "sharp" variable is non-NULL, not when it's NULL. Fix. 2024-06-11drm/panel: sharp-lq101r1sx01: Don't call disable at shutdown/removeDouglas Anderson1-22/+2
It's the responsibility of a correctly written DRM modeset driver to call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at shutdown time and that should be disabling / unpreparing the panel if needed. Panel drivers shouldn't be calling these functions themselves. A recent effort was made to fix as many DRM modeset drivers as possible [1] [2] [3] and most drivers are fixed now. A grep through mainline for compatible strings used by this driver indicates that it is used by Tegra boards. The Tegra driver appears to be correctly calling drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() so we can remove the calls. Even if someone was relying on the double-check before, that double-check is now in the core and not needed in individual drivers. 2022-07-09drm/mipi-dsi: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
All implementations return 0 and the return value of mipi_dsi_drv_remove() is ignored anyhow. So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour. 2019-12-09drm/panel: drop drm_device from drm_panelSam Ravnborg1-2/+2
The panel drivers used drm_panel.drm for two purposes: 1) Argument to drm_mode_duplicate() 2) drm->dev was used in error messages The first usage is replaced with drm_connector.dev - drm_connector is already connected to a drm_device and we have a valid connector The second usage is replaced with drm_panel.dev - this makes drivers more consistent in their dev argument used for dev_err() and friends With these replacements there are no more uses of drm_panel.drm, so it is removed from struct drm_panel. 2019-09-08drm/panel: Add and fill drm_panel type fieldLaurent Pinchart1-1/+2
Add a type field to the drm_panel structure to report the panel type, using DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_* macros (the values that make sense are LVDS, eDP, DSI and DPI). This will be used to initialise the corresponding connector type. Update all panel drivers accordingly. The panel-simple driver only specifies the type for the known to be LVDS panels, while all other panels are left as unknown and will be converted on a case-by-case basis as they all need to be carefully reviewed. Instead of requiring all drivers to set the dev and funcs fields of drm_panel manually after calling drm_panel_init(), pass the data as arguments to the function. This simplifies the panel drivers, and will help future refactoring when adding new arguments to drm_panel_init(). 2018-05-18drm/panel: Remove drm_panel_detach() calls from all panel driversJyri Sarha1-1/+0
Remove all drm_panel_detach() calls from all panel drivers and update the kerneldoc for drm_panel_detach(). Setting the connector and drm to NULL when the DRM panel device is going away hardly serves any purpose. Usually the whole memory structure is freed right after the remove call. However, calling the detach function from the master DRM device, and setting the connector pointer to NULL, has the logic of marking the panel again as available for another DRM master to attach. The usual situation would be the same DRM master device binding again. Before shutting down the display using the DCS display_off command, wait for 4 frames according to the datasheet. Furthermore, after enabling the power supply, the supply voltage needs around 10 ms to settle. After that, another 120 ms is required before a DCS exit_sleep_mode command can be sent. While at it, no longer send the DCS soft_reset command. This is totally unnecessary because we've just powered up the display, hence it will be in a reset state already. After switching the display on (using the DCS display_on command), wait for 6 frames (100ms at 60 Hz) to give the display more time to prepare. Failing to do this results in the panel not initializing properly in a large number of cases. Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>

This panel requires dual-channel mode. The device accepts command-mode data on 8 lanes and will therefore need a dual-channel DSI controller. The two interfaces that make up this device need to be instantiated in the controllers that gang up to provide the dual-channel DSI host.
