Different planes could have different alignment requirements
even for the same format/modifier. Collect the alignment
requirements across all planes capable of scanning out the
fb such that the alignment is satisfactory to all those
planes.
So far this was sort of handled by making sure intel_surf_alignment()
declares the superset of all planes' alignment requirements,
but maintaining that manually is annoying. So we're going to move
towards each plane declaring only its own requirements, and thus
we need code to generate the superset.

Different hardware generations have different scanout alignment
requirements. Introduce a new vfunc that will allow us to
make that distinction without horrible if-ladders.
For now we directly plug in the existing intel_surf_alignment()
and intel_cursor_alignment() functions.
For fbdev we (temporarily) introduce intel_fbdev_min_alignment()
that simply queries the alignment from the primary plane of
the first crtc.

Both should be pointing at the same thing. Make things less
confusing by just getting existing fb from 'ifbdev->fb' at the

Replace all code that initializes or releases fbdev emulation
throughout the driver. Instead initialize the fbdev client by a
single call to intel_fbdev_setup() after i915 has registered its
DRM device. Just like similar code in other drivers, i915 fbdev
emulation now acts like a regular DRM client. Do the same for xe.
The fbdev client setup consists of the initial preparation and the
hot-plugging of the display. The latter creates the fbdev device
and sets up the fbdev framebuffer. The setup performs display
hot-plugging once. If no display can be detected, DRM probe helpers
re-run the detection on each hotplug event.
A call to drm_client_dev_unregister() releases all in-kernel clients
automatically. No further action is required within i915. If the fbdev
framebuffer has been fully set up, struct fb_ops.fb_destroy implements
the release. For partially initialized emulation, the fbdev client
reverts the initial setup. Do the same for xe and remove its call to
intel_fbdev_fini().

Move code from ad-hoc fbdev callbacks into DRM client functions
and remove the old callbacks. The functions instruct the client
to poll for changed output or restore the display.
The DRM core calls both, the old callbacks and the new client
helpers, from the same places. The new functions perform the same
operation as before, so there's no change in functionality.
Fox xe, remove xe_display_last_close(), which restored the fbdev
display. As with i915, the DRM core's drm_lastclose() performs
this operation automatically.

Use localized __diag_push(), __diag_ignore_all() with rationale, and
__diag_pop() for specific initializations instead of blanket disabling
of -Woverride-init across several files.
Note that we've tried this before with commit 88e9664434c9 ("drm/i915:
use localized __diag_ignore_all() instead of per file") and reverted in
commit 290d16104575 ("Revert "drm/i915: use localized

in __diag_ignore_all() and it was fixed by commit 689b097a06ba
("compiler-gcc: Suppress -Wmissing-prototypes warning for all supported

This reverts commit 88e9664434c994e97a9f6f8cdd1535495c660cea.
__diag_ignore_all() only works for GCC 8 or later.
-Woverride-init (from -Wextra, enabled in i915 Makefile) combined with
CONFIG_WERROR=y or W=e breaks the build for older GCC.
With i386_defconfig and x86_64_defconfig enabling CONFIG_WERROR=y by
default, we really need to roll back the change.
An alternative would be to disable -Woverride-init in the Makefile for
GCC <8, but the revert seems like the safest bet now.

Move drm_fb_helper_unprepare() from drm_fb_helper_fini() into the
calling fbdev implementation. Avoids a possible stale mutex with
generic fbdev code.
As indicated by its name, drm_fb_helper_prepare() prepares struct
drm_fb_helper before setting up the fbdev support with a call to
drm_fb_helper_init(). In legacy fbdev emulation, this happens next
to each other. If successful, drm_fb_helper_fini() later tear down
the fbdev device and also unprepare via drm_fb_helper_unprepare().
Generic fbdev emulation prepares struct drm_fb_helper immediately
after allocating the instance. It only calls drm_fb_helper_init()
as part of processing a hotplug event. If the hotplug-handling fails,
it runs drm_fb_helper_fini(). This unprepares the fb-helper instance
and the next hotplug event runs on stale data.
Solve this by moving drm_fb_helper_unprepare() from drm_fb_helper_fini()
into the fbdev implementations. Call it right before freeing the
fb-helper instance.

After disconnecting damage worker from update logic it's left to fbdev
emulation implementation to have fb_dirty function. Currently intel
fbdev doesn't have it. This is causing problems to features (PSR, FBC,
DRRS) relying on dirty callback.
Implement simple fb_dirty callback to deliver notifications about updates
in fb console.

Initialize the fb-helper's preferred_bpp field early from within
drm_fb_helper_prepare(); instead of the later client hot-plugging
callback. This simplifies the generic fbdev setup function.
No real changes, but all drivers' fbdev code has to be adapted.

We already wrap i915_vma.node.start for use with the GGTT, as there we
can perform additional sanity checks that the node belongs to the GGTT
and fits within the 32b registers. In the next couple of patches, we
will introduce guard pages around the objects _inside_ the drm_mm_node
allocation. That is we will offset the vma->pages so that the first page
is at drm_mm_node.start + vma->guard (not 0 as is currently the case).
All users must then not use i915_vma.node.start directly, but compute
the guard offset, thus all users are converted to use a
i915_vma_offset() wrapper.
The notable exceptions are the selftests that are testing exact
behaviour of i915_vma_pin/i915_vma_insert.

Implement the fbdev's read/write helpers with the same functions. Use
the generic fbdev's code as template. Convert all drivers.
DRM's fb helpers must implement regular I/O functionality in struct
fb_ops and possibly perform a damage update. Handle all this in the
same functions and convert drivers. The functionality has been used
as part of the generic fbdev code for some time. The drivers don't
set struct drm_fb_helper.fb_dirty, so they will not be affected by
damage handling.
For I/O memory, fb helpers now provide drm_fb_helper_cfb_read() and
drm_fb_helper_cfb_write(). Several drivers require these. Until now
tegra used I/O read and write, although the memory buffer appears to
be in system memory. So use _sys_ helpers now.
