An upstream bug report suggests that there are production dGPUs that are older than DCN401 but still have a umc_info in VBIOS tables with the same version as expected for a DCN401 product. Hence, reading this tables should be guarded with a version check. New request from KMD/VBIOS in order to support new UMA carveout model. This fixes a null dereference from accessing Ctx->dc_bios->integrated_info while it was NULL. DAL parses through the BIOS and extracts the necessary integrated_info but was missing a case for the new BIOS version 2.3. 2023-12-19drm/amd/display: Wake DMCUB before sending a commandNicholas Kazlauskas1-6/+6
[Why] We can hang in place trying to send commands when the DMCUB isn't powered on. [How] For functions that execute within a DC context or DC lock we can wrap the direct calls to dm_execute_dmub_cmd/list with code that exits idle power optimizations and reallows once we're done with the command submission on success. For DM direct submissions the DM will need to manage the enter/exit sequencing manually. We cannot invoke a DMCUB command directly within the DM execution helper or we can deadlock. 2023-09-26drm/amd/display: switch DC over to the new DRM logging macrosHamza Mahfooz1-0/+3
For multi-GPU systems it is difficult to tell which GPU a particular message is being printed for and that is undesirable because it complicates debugging efforts. Also, the new macros allow us to enable logging for particular parts of the codebase more selectively (since we no longer need to throw everything at DRM_DEBUG_KMS()). So, for the reasons outlined above we should switch to the new macros. We can accomplish this by using the existing DC_LOGGER code to pass around the relevant `struct drm_device` which will be fed to the new macros in logger_types.h. Also, we must get rid of all instances of the DC_LOG_.*() functions that are currently in amdgpu_dm since we don't use the DC logger there and we can simply refer to the macros directly there instead. 2023-04-11drm/amd: Fix an out of bounds error in BIOS parserMario Limonciello1-5/+2
The array is hardcoded to 8 in atomfirmware.h, but firmware provides a bigger one sometimes. Deferencing the larger array causes an out of bounds error. commit 4fc1ba4aa589 ("drm/amd/display: fix array index out of bound error in bios parser") fixed some of this, but there are two other cases not covered by it. [Why] When an eDP panel is powered externally from a different GPU, we can avoid waiting for hardware sequencing delays when switching the backlight on/off as the display backlight is no longer powered by the original source. [How] This commit extends the 'link_powered_externally' variable to allow bypassing hardware delays for additional backlight commands and force the backlight on/off when a link is powered by another GPU. 2022-11-15drm/amdgpu: Replace one-elements array with flex-array membersPaulo Miguel Almeida1-8/+14
One-element arrays are deprecated, and we are replacing them with flexible array members instead. So, replace one-element array with flexible-array member in structs ATOM_I2C_VOLTAGE_OBJECT_V3, ATOM_ASIC_INTERNAL_SS_INFO_V2, ATOM_ASIC_INTERNAL_SS_INFO_V3, and refactor the rest of the code accordingly. Important to mention is that doing a build before/after this patch results in no functional binary output differences. This helps with the ongoing efforts to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy() and help us make progress towards globally enabling -fstrict-flex-arrays=3 [1]. [Why&How] Firmware headers dictate that gpio_pin array only has a size of 8. The count returned from vbios however is greater than 8. One-element arrays are deprecated, and we are replacing them with flexible array members instead. So, replace one-element array with flexible-array member in structs _ATOM_CONNECTOR_DEVICE_TAG_RECORD, _ATOM_OBJECT_GPIO_CNTL_RECORD, _ATOM_BRACKET_LAYOUT_RECORD, _ATOM_BRACKET_LAYOUT_RECORD, _ATOM_LEAKAGE_VOLTAGE_OBJECT_V3, _ATOM_FUSION_SYSTEM_INFO_V3, _ATOM_I2C_DATA_RECORD, _ATOM_I2C_DEVICE_SETUP_INFO, _ATOM_ASIC_MVDD_INFO and refactor the rest of the code accordingly. While at it, removed a redundant casting. Important to mention is that doing a build before/after this patch results in no binary output differences. This helps with the ongoing efforts to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy() and help us make progress towards globally enabling -fstrict-flex-arrays=3 [1].
