2023-04-05mips: fix comment about pgtable_init()Mike Rapoport (IBM)1-1/+1
Patch series "mm: move core MM initialization to mm/mm_init.c", v2. This set moves most of the core MM initialization to mm/mm_init.c. This largely includes free_area_init() and its helpers, functions used at boot time, mm_init() from init/main.c and some of the functions it calls. Aside from gaining some more space before mm/page_alloc.c hits 10k lines, this makes mm/page_alloc.c to be mostly about buddy allocator and moves the init code out of the way, which IMO improves maintainability. Besides, this allows to move a couple of declarations out of include/linux and make them private to mm/. And as an added bonus there a slight decrease in vmlinux size. For tinyconfig and defconfig on x86 I've got tinyconfig: text data bss dec hex filename 853206 289376 1200128 2342710 23bf36 a/vmlinux 853198 289344 1200128 2342670 23bf0e b/vmlinux defconfig: text data bss dec hex filename 26152959 9730634 2170884 38054477 244aa4d a/vmlinux 26152945 9730602 2170884 38054431 244aa1f b/vmlinux This patch (of 14): Comment about fixrange_init() says that its called from pgtable_init() while the actual caller is pagetabe_init(). Update comment to match the code. 2020-06-09mm: pgtable: add shortcuts for accessing kernel PMD and PTEMike Rapoport1-3/+0
The powerpc 32-bit implementation of pgtable has nice shortcuts for accessing kernel PMD and PTE for a given virtual address. Make these helpers available for all architectures. 2019-11-22mips: add support for folded p4d page tablesMike Rapoport1-1/+1
Implement primitives necessary for the 4th level folding, add walks of p4d level where appropriate, replace 5leve-fixup.h with pgtable-nop4d.h and drop usage of __ARCH_USE_5LEVEL_HACK. 2014-05-24MIPS: MT: Remove SMTC supportRalf Baechle1-4/+0
Nobody is maintaining SMTC anymore and there also seems to be no userbase. Which is a pity - the SMTC technology primarily developed by Kevin D. Kissell <[email protected]> is an ingenious demonstration for the MT ASE's power and elegance. Based on Markos Chandras <[email protected]> patch https://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/6719/ which while very similar did no longer apply cleanly when I tried to merge it plus some additional post-SMTC cleanup - SMTC was a feature as tricky to remove as it was to merge once upon a time. 2011-07-25MIPS: Move FIXADDR_TOP into spaces.hKevin Cernekee1-9/+1
Memory maps and addressing quirks are normally defined in <spaces.h>. There are already three targets that need to override FIXADDR_TOP, and others exist. This will be a cleaner approach than adding lots of ifdefs in fixmap.h . 2009-11-02MIPS: Fix machine check exception in kmap_coherent()Kevin Cernekee1-2/+2
On an SMP system with cache aliases, the following sequence of events may happen: 1) copy_user_highpage() runs on CPU0, invoking kmap_coherent() to create a temporary mapping in the fixmap region 2) copy_page() starts on CPU0 3) CPU1 sends CPU0 an IPI asking CPU0 to run local_r4k_flush_cache_page() 4) CPU0 takes the interrupt, interrupting copy_page() 5) local_r4k_flush_cache_page() on CPU0 calls kmap_coherent() again 6) The second invocation of kmap_coherent() on CPU0 tries to use the same fixmap virtual address that was being used by copy_user_highpage() 7) CPU0 throws a machine check exception for the TLB address conflict Fixed by creating an extra set of fixmap entries for use in interrupt handlers. This prevents fixmap VA conflicts between copy_user_highpage() running in user context, and local_r4k_flush_cache_page() invoked from an SMP IPI.
