There were several files under Documentation/video4linux/bttv.
Instead of simply copying them to the rst folder, I opted to
merge into a single document and adjust the headers to
adjust the section levels and fix the cards tables.
There are two exceptions on the merge:
- The Tuners were renamed as a separate document, as they
describe a separate driver;
- I removed the PROBLEMS section. It describes problems with
the very first generation of 3D boards (Mistique/S3).
It sounds very unlikely that someone would still need to
install a bttv board on such hardware. Also, it is not
very well written, IMHO.

Pull Documentation updates from Jon Corbet:
"A bit busier this time around.
The most interesting thing (IMO) this time around is some beginning
infrastructural work to allow documents to be written using
restructured text. Maybe someday, in a galaxy far far away, we'll be
able to eliminate the DocBook dependency and have a much better
integrated set of kernel docs. Someday.
Beyond that, there's a new document on security hardening from Kees,
the movement of some sample code over to samples/, a number of
improvements to the serial docs from Geert, and the usual collection
of corrections, typo fixes, etc"

With the new autoksyms support, we can run into a situation where
the v4l pci skeleton module is the only one using some exported
symbols that get dropped because they are never referenced by
the kernel otherwise, causing a build problem:
ERROR: "vb2_dma_contig_memops" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "vb2_dma_contig_init_ctx_attrs" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "v4l2_match_dv_timings" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "v4l2_find_dv_timings_cap" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "v4l2_valid_dv_timings" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "v4l2_enum_dv_timings_cap" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "vb2_dma_contig_cleanup_ctx" [Documentation/video4linux/v4l2-pci-skeleton.ko] undefined!
Specifically, we do look in the samples directory for users of
symbols, but not the Documentation directory.
This solves the build problem by moving the connector sample into
the same directory as the other samples.

Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD is a USB 2.0 dual DVB-T/T2/C tuner with
following components:
USB bridge: Empia EM28274 (chip id is the same as EM28174)
Demodulator: 2x Silicon Labs Si2168-B40
Tuner: 2x Silicon Labs Si2157-A30
This patch adds support only for the first tuner.
The demodulator needs firmware, available for example here:
http://palosaari.fi/linux/v4l-dvb/firmware/Si2168/Si2168-B40/4.0.11/
The demodulators sit on the same I2C bus and their addresses
are 0x64 and 0x67. The tuners are behind the demodulators and
their addresses are 0x60 and 0x63.

A small bug with the new autoksyms support showed that there are
two kernel modules in the Documentation directory that qualify
as samples, while all other samples are in the samples/ directory.
This patch was originally meant as a workaround for that bug, but
it has now been solved in a different way. However, I still think
it makes sense as a cleanup to consolidate all sample code in
one place.

v4l2_ctrl_add_ctrl() interface has no users since its introduction in
commit 0996517cf8ea ("V4L/DVB: v4l2: Add new control handling framework")
and its functionality is covered by v4l2_ctrl_new() and derivative
interfaces, so it is safe to remove the interface from the kernel.

With the MC next gen rework, what's left for media_entity_init()
is to just initialize the PADs. However, certain devices, like
a FLASH led/light doesn't have any input or output PAD.
So, there's no reason why calling media_entity_init() would be
mandatory. Also, despite its name, what this function actually
does is to initialize the PADs data. So, rename it to
media_entity_pads_init() in order to reflect that.
The media entity actual init happens during entity register,
at media_device_register_entity(). We should move init of
num_links and num_backlinks to it.

Entities should have one or more functions. Calling it as a
type proofed to not be correct, as an entity could eventually
have more than one type.
So, rename the field as function.
Please notice that this patch doesn't extend support for
multiple function entities. Such change will happen when
we have real case drivers using it.
No functional changes.

Currently, media_entity_init() creates an array with the links,
allocated at init time. It provides a parameter (extra_links)
that would allocate more links than the current needs, but this
is not used by any driver.
As we want to be able to do dynamic link allocation/removal,
we'll need to change the implementation of the links. So,
before doing that, let's first remove that extra unused
parameter, in order to cleanup the interface first.

The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2
and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to
VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information
from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format.
After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer,
which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will
effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format.
To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed:
the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument
is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then
it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array
contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return
-EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s).

The Terratec Cinergy T XS is a DVB-T receiver with no analog TV tuner.
This patch adds support for the cards carrying the mt2060 tuner; it's
unclear whether there are cards sold under the same name which use a
different tuner.
As long as there are no reports of such cards, and indeed as long as
there are no working drivers for them, we assume that the USB device
[0ccd:0043] is carrying the mt2060 tuner.

Let's not mix platform_data headers with the core headers. Instead, let's
create a subdir at linux/platform_data and move the headers to that
common place, adding it to MAINTAINERS.
The headers were moved with:
mkdir include/linux/platform_data/media/; git mv include/media/gpio-ir-recv.h include/media/ir-rx51.h include/media/mmp-camera.h include/media/omap1_camera.h include/media/omap4iss.h include/media/s5p_hdmi.h include/media/si4713.h include/media/sii9234.h include/media/smiapp.h include/media/soc_camera.h include/media/soc_camera_platform.h include/media/timb_radio.h include/media/timb_video.h include/linux/platform_data/media/
And the references fixed with this script:
MAIN_DIR="linux/platform_data/"
PREV_DIR="media/"
DIRS="media/"
echo "Checking affected files" >&2
for i in $DIRS; do
for j in $(find include/$MAIN_DIR/$i -type f -name '*.h'); do
n=`basename $j`
git grep -l $n
done
done|sort|uniq >files && (
echo "Handling files..." >&2;
echo "for i in \$(cat files|grep -v Documentation); do cat \$i | \\";

This has been on my TODO list for some time now: the control that enables the video
loopback was part of the controls of the video output device instead of the video
capture device. In practice this was quite annoying since you expect it at the capture
side since that's where you want to make the decision whether to use the TPG or looped
video.
This patch moves the control from the output to the capture side.
