Merge series from Alina Yu <[email protected]>: There are two types of LDO VOUT: fixed voltage mode and adjustable voltage mode. As the fixed voltage for the LDO is outside the range of the adjustable voltage mode, the constraints for this scenario are not suitable to represent both modes. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/regulator Pull regulator updates from Mark Brown: "There's one API update here, a new API factoring out a common pattern for reference voltage supplies. These are supplies used as a reference by analogue circuits where the consumer requests and enables the supply, reads the voltage to calibrate the user and then never touches it again. This is factored out into a single operation which just returns the voltage and uses devm_ to manage the request and enable portion. Otherwise this has been a very quiet release, we've got some new device support, some small fixes, housekeeping and cleanup work but nothing substantial. There's also some non-regulator changes in here, a number of users for the new reference voltage API were merged along with it and some MFD changes were pulled in as dependencies for new driver work. Define "regulator-[0-9]v[0-9]" as the preferred node name for fixed regulators. Other suffixes with names are also accepted. Combined, these make up about half of the existing names in use. access-controllers is an optional property that allows a peripheral to refer to one or more domain access controller(s). Description of this property is added to all peripheral binding files of the peripheral under the STM32 firewall controller. It allows an accurate representation of the hardware, where various peripherals are connected to a firewall bus. The firewall can then check the peripheral accesses before allowing its device to probe. 2023-11-13regulator: add under-voltage support (part 2)Mark Brown2-0/+15
Merge series from Oleksij Rempel <[email protected]>: This series add under-voltage and emergency shutdown for system critical regulators
2023-11-13regulator: dt-bindings: Add 'regulator-uv-less-critical-window-ms' propertyOleksij Rempel1-0/+8
Introduces a new devicetree property to specifies the time window (in milliseconds) following a critical under-voltage (UV) event during which less critical actions can be safely carried out by the system. Less Critical Actions: - Logging the under-voltage event for later analysis. - Saving less critical data that may be useful for diagnosing issues or for audit purposes. More Critical Actions (post the less critical window): - Initiating procedures to properly shutdown hardware to prevent damage. The 'regulator-uv-less-critical-window-ms' property is crucial for conveying board-specific hardware characteristics, not for enforcing a certain policy. The time window represented by this property is derived from the physical attributes of the hardware like the capacity of on-board capacitors, the power consumption of the components, and the time needed to safely shut down hardware to prevent damage. These attributes can significantly vary between different boards, making it a board-specific property rather than a policy directive. By providing a precise representation of the time available for less critical actions post an under-voltage event, this property enables the kernel to make informed decisions on action prioritization, ensuring that essential preventative measures are taken to avoid hardware damage while also allowing for data capture and analysis. 2023-11-13regulator: dt-bindings: Allow system-critical marking for fixed-regulatorOleksij Rempel1-0/+2
In certain projects, the main system regulator, composed of simple components including an under-voltage detector and capacitors, can be aptly described as a fixed regulator in the device tree. To cater to such use cases, this patch extends the fixed regulator binding to support the 'system-critical-regulator' property. This property signifies that the fixed-regulator is vital for system stability.
