2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Fix test numbering when skipping testsMark Brown1-1/+1
Currently when skipping tests in the BTI testsuite we assign the same number to every test since we forget to increment the current test number as we skip, causing warnings about not running the expected test count and potentially otherwise confusing result parsers. Fix this by adding an appropriate increment. Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Catalin Marinas <[email protected]>
2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Skip non-power of 2 SVE vector lengths in fp-stressMark Brown1-1/+4
As documented in issue C215 in the known issues list for DDI0487I.a [1] Arm will be making a retroactive change to SVE to remove the possibility of selecting non power of two vector lengths. This has no impact on existing physical implementations but most virtual implementations have implemented the full range of permissible vector lengths. Given how demanding fp-stress is for these implementations update to only attempt to enumerate the power of two vector lengths, reducing the load created on existing virtual implementations and only exercising the functionality that will be seen in physical implementations. 2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Only enumerate power of two VLs in syscall-abiMark Brown1-2/+2
Since virtual implementations are noticeably slow in general and the larger vector lengths amplify the issue there's a useful improvement in runtime from only covering the vector lengths that will exist in practical systems, adjust our enumeration accordingly. We have other tests that aim to cover the enumeration interfaces. For symmetry we apply the same change to the eumeration for SME vector lengths, though the power of two restriction was already present for SME so there is no impact on the set of vector lengths tested. 2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Verify SME only ABI in syscall-abiMark Brown2-6/+42
Currently syscall-abi only covers SME in the case where the system supports SVE however it is architecturally valid to support SME without SVE. Update the program to cover this case, this requires adjustments in the code to check for SVCR.SM being set when deciding if we're handling the FPSIMD or SVE registers and the addition of new test cases for the SME only case. Note that in the SME only case we should not save the SVE registers after a syscall since even if we were in streaming mode and therefore set them the syscall should have exited streaming mode, we check that we have done so by looking at SVCR. 2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Only enumerate VLs once in syscall-abiMark Brown1-54/+41
Currently syscall-abi not only enumerates the SVE VLs twice while working out how many tests are planned, it also repeats the enumeration process while doing the actual tests. Record the VLs when we enumerate and use that list when we are performing the tests, removing some duplicated logic. 2023-01-12kselftest/arm64: Fix syscall-abi for systems without 128 bit SMEMark Brown1-0/+8
SME does not mandate any specific VL so we may not have 128 bit SME but the algorithm used for enumerating VLs assumes that we will. Add the required check to ensure that the algorithm terminates. 2023-01-12x86/cpufeature: Add the CPU feature bit for LKGSH. Peter Anvin (Intel)1-0/+1
Add the CPU feature bit for LKGS (Load "Kernel" GS). LKGS instruction is introduced with Intel FRED (flexible return and event delivery) specification. Search for the latest FRED spec in most search engines with this search pattern: site:intel.com FRED (flexible return and event delivery) specification LKGS behaves like the MOV to GS instruction except that it loads the base address into the IA32_KERNEL_GS_BASE MSR instead of the GS segment’s descriptor cache, which is exactly what Linux kernel does to load a user level GS base. Thus, with LKGS, there is no need to SWAPGS away from the kernel GS base. [ mingo: Minor tweaks to the description. ] Signed-off-by: H. 2023-01-11selftests/xsk: automatically switch XDP programsMagnus Karlsson4-68/+96
Implement automatic switching of XDP programs and execution modes if needed by a test. This makes it much simpler to write a test as it only has to say what XDP program it needs if it is not the default one. This also makes it possible to remove the initial explicit attachment of the XDP program as well as the explicit mode switch in the code. These are now handled by the same code that just checks if a switch is necessary, so no special cases are needed. The default XDP program for all tests is one that sends all packets to the AF_XDP socket. If you need another one, please use the new function test_spec_set_xdp_prog() to specify what XDP programs and maps to use for this test. 2023-01-11selftests/xsk: add test when some packets are XDP_DROPedMagnus Karlsson3-0/+43
Add a new test where some of the packets are not passed to the AF_XDP socket and instead get a XDP_DROP verdict. This is important as it tests the recycling mechanism of the buffer pool. If a packet is not sent to the AF_XDP socket, the buffer the packet resides in is instead recycled so it can be used again without the round-trip to user space. 2023-01-11selftests/xsk: remove unnecessary code in control pathMagnus Karlsson3-631/+3

2023-01-11selftests/xsk: load and attach XDP program only once per modeMagnus Karlsson4-87/+162
Load and attach the XDP program only once per XDP mode that is being executed. Today, the XDP program is loaded and attached for every test, then unloaded, which takes a long time on real NICs, since they have to reconfigure their HW, in contrast to veth. The test suite now completes in 21 seconds, instead of 207 seconds previously on my machine. This is a speed-up of around 10x. This is accomplished by moving the XDP loading from the worker threads to the main thread and replacing the XDP loading interfaces of xsk.c that was taken from the xsk support in libbpf, with something more explicit that is more useful for these tests. Instead, the relevant file descriptors and ifindexes are just passed down to the new functions. 2023-01-11selftests/xsk: replace asm acquire/release implementationsMagnus Karlsson1-76/+4
Replace our own homegrown assembly store/release and load/acquire implementations with the HW agnositic atomic APIs C11 offers. This to make the code more portable, easier to read, and reduce the maintenance burden. The original code used load-acquire and store-release barriers hand-coded in assembly. Since C11, these kind of operations are offered as built-ins in gcc and llvm. The load-acquire operation prevents hoisting of non-atomic memory operations to before this operation and it corresponds to the __ATOMIC_ACQUIRE operation in the built-in atomics. The store-release operation prevents hoisting of non-atomic memory operations to after this operation and it corresponds to the __ATOMIC_RELEASE operation in the built-in atomics. 2023-01-11selftests/xsk: add debug option for creating netdevsMagnus Karlsson1-1/+10
Add a new option to the test_xsk.sh script that only creates the two veth netdevs and the extra namespace, then exits without running any tests. The failed test can then be executed in the debugger without having to create the netdevs and namespace manually. For ease-of-use, the veth netdevs to use are printed so they can be copied into the debugger. Here is an example how to use it: > sudo ./test_xsk.sh -d veth10 veth11 > gdb xskxceiver In gdb: run -i veth10 -i veth11 And now the test cases can be debugged with gdb. If you want to debug the test suite on a real NIC in loopback mode, there is no need to use this feature as you already know the netdev of your NIC. 2023-01-11proc: fix PIE proc-empty-vm, proc-pid-vm testsAlexey Dobriyan2-9/+12
vsyscall detection code uses direct call to the beginning of the vsyscall page: asm ("call %P0" :: "i" (0xffffffffff600000)) It generates "call rel32" instruction but it is not relocated if binary is PIE, so binary segfaults into random userspace address and vsyscall page status is detected incorrectly. Do more direct: asm ("call *%rax") which doesn't do need any relocaltions. Mark g_vsyscall as volatile for a good measure, I didn't find instruction setting it to 0. Now the code is obviously correct: xor eax, eax mov rdi, rbp mov rsi, rbp mov DWORD PTR [rip+0x2d15], eax # g_vsyscall = 0 mov rax, 0xffffffffff600000 call rax mov DWORD PTR [rip+0x2d02], 1 # g_vsyscall = 1 mov eax, DWORD PTR ds:0xffffffffff600000 mov DWORD PTR [rip+0x2cf1], 2 # g_vsyscall = 2 mov edi, [rip+0x2ceb] # exit(g_vsyscall) call exit Note: fixed proc-empty-vm test oopses 5.19.0-28-generic kernel but this is separate story. 2023-01-10perf bpf: Avoid build breakage with libbpf < 0.8.0 + LIBBPF_DYNAMIC=1Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo1-0/+2
In 746bd29e348f99b4 ("perf build: Use tools/lib headers from install path") we stopped having the tools/lib/ directory from the kernel sources in the header include path unconditionally, which breaks the build on systems with older versions of libbpf-devel, in this case 0.7.0 as some of the structures and function declarations present in the newer version of libbpf included in the kernel sources (tools/lib/bpf) are not anymore used, just the ones in the system libbpf. 2023-01-10perf kmem: Support field "node" in evsel__process_alloc_event() coping with ↵Leo Yan1-12/+24
recent tracepoint restructuring Commit 11e9734bcb6a7361 ("mm/slab_common: unify NUMA and UMA version of tracepoints") adds the field "node" into the tracepoints 'kmalloc' and 'kmem_cache_alloc', so this patch modifies the event process function to support the field "node". If field "node" is detected by checking function evsel__field(), it stats the cross allocation. When the "node" value is NUMA_NO_NODE (-1), it means the memory can be allocated from any memory node, in this case, we don't account it as a cross allocation. 2023-01-10selftests/net: l2_tos_ttl_inherit.sh: Ensure environment cleanup on failure.Guillaume Nault1-4/+36
Use 'set -e' and an exit handler to stop the script if a command fails and ensure the test environment is cleaned up in any case. Also, handle the case where the script is interrupted by SIGINT. The only command that's expected to fail is 'wait $ping_pid', since it's killed by the script. Handle this case with '|| true' to make it play well with 'set -e'. Finally, return the Kselftest SKIP code (4) when the script breaks because of an environment problem or a command line failure. The 0 and 1 return codes should now reliably indicate that all tests have been run (0: all tests run and passed, 1: all tests run but at least one failed, 4: test script didn't run completely). 2023-01-10selftests/net: l2_tos_ttl_inherit.sh: Run tests in their own netns.Guillaume Nault1-69/+93
This selftest currently runs half in the current namespace and half in a netns of its own. Therefore, the test can fail if the current namespace is already configured with incompatible parameters (for example if it already has a veth0 interface). Adapt the script to put both ends of the veth pair in their own netns. Now veth0 is created in NS0 instead of the current namespace, while veth1 is set up in NS1 (instead of the 'testing' netns). The user visible netns names are randomised to minimise the risk of conflicts with already existing namespaces. The cleanup() function doesn't need to remove the virtual interface anymore: deleting NS0 and NS1 automatically removes the virtual interfaces they contained. We can remove $ns, which was only used to run ip commands in the 'testing' netns (let's use the builtin "-netns" option instead). However, we still need a similar functionality as ping and tcpdump now need to run in NS0. So we now have $RUN_NS0 for that. 2023-01-09tools/nolibc: prevent gcc from making memset() loop over itselfWilly Tarreau1-1/+4
When building on ARM in thumb mode with gcc-11.3 at -O2 or -O3, nolibc-test segfaults during the select() tests. It turns out that at this level, gcc recognizes an opportunity for using memset() to zero the fd_set, but it miscompiles it because it also recognizes a memset pattern as well, and decides to call memset() from the memset() code: 000122bc <memset>: 122bc: b510 push {r4, lr} 122be: 0004 movs r4, r0 122c0: 2a00 cmp r2, #0 122c2: d003 beq.n 122cc <memset+0x10> 122c4: 23ff movs r3, #255 ; 0xff 122c6: 4019 ands r1, r3 122c8: f7ff fff8 bl 122bc <memset> 122cc: 0020 movs r0, r4 122ce: bd10 pop {r4, pc} Simply placing an empty asm() statement inside the loop suffices to avoid this. 2023-01-09tools/nolibc: fix missing includes causing build issues at -O0Willy Tarreau10-0/+29
After the nolibc includes were split to facilitate portability from standard libcs, programs that include only what they need may miss some symbols which are needed by libgcc. This is the case for raise() which is needed by the divide by zero code in some architectures for example. Regardless, being able to include only the apparently needed files is convenient. Instead of trying to move all exported definitions to a single file, since this can change over time, this patch takes another approach consisting in including the nolibc header at the end of all standard include files. This way their types and functions are already known at the moment of inclusion, and including any single one of them is sufficient to bring all the required ones. 2023-01-09tools/nolibc: restore mips branch ordering in the _start blockWilly Tarreau1-0/+2
Depending on the compiler used and the optimization options, the sbrk() test was crashing, both on real hardware (mips-24kc) and in qemu. One such example is kernel.org toolchain in version 11.3 optimizing at -Os. Inspecting the sys_brk() call shows the following code: 0040047c <sys_brk>: 40047c: 24020fcd li v0,4045 400480: 27bdffe0 addiu sp,sp,-32 400484: 0000000c syscall 400488: 27bd0020 addiu sp,sp,32 40048c: 10e00001 beqz a3,400494 <sys_brk+0x18> 400490: 00021023 negu v0,v0 400494: 03e00008 jr ra It is obviously wrong, the "negu" instruction is placed in beqz's delayed slot, and worse, there's no nop nor instruction after the return, so the next function's first instruction (addiu sip,sip,-32) will also be executed as part of the delayed slot that follows the return. This is caused by the ".set noreorder" directive in the _start block, that applies to the whole program. The compiler emits code without the delayed slots and relies on the compiler to swap instructions when this option is not set. Removing the option would require to change the startup code in a way that wouldn't make it look like the resulting code, which would not be easy to debug. Instead let's just save the default ordering before changing it, and restore it at the end of the _start block. Now the code is correct: 0040047c <sys_brk>: 40047c: 24020fcd li v0,4045 400480: 27bdffe0 addiu sp,sp,-32 400484: 0000000c syscall 400488: 10e00002 beqz a3,400494 <sys_brk+0x18> 40048c: 27bd0020 addiu sp,sp,32 400490: 00021023 negu v0,v0 400494: 03e00008 jr ra 400498: 00000000 nop Fixes: 66b6f755ad45 ("rcutorture: Import a copy of nolibc") #5.0 Signed-off-by: Willy Tarreau <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Paul E. 2023-01-09tools/nolibc: Fix S_ISxxx macrosWarner Losh1-7/+7
The mode field has the type encoded as an value in a field, not as a bit mask. Mask the mode with S_IFMT instead of each type to test. Otherwise, false positives are possible: eg S_ISDIR will return true for block devices because S_IFDIR = 0040000 and S_IFBLK = 0060000 since mode is masked with S_IFDIR instead of S_IFMT. 2023-01-09objtool: Tolerate STT_NOTYPE symbols at end of sectionNicholas Piggin1-0/+9
Hand-written asm often contains non-function symbols in executable sections. _end symbols for finding the size of instruction blocks for runtime processing is one such usage. optprobe_template_end is one example that causes the warning: objtool: optprobe_template_end(): can't find starting instruction This is because the symbol happens to be at the end of the file (and therefore end of a section in the object file). So ignore end-of-section STT_NOTYPE symbols instead of bailing out because an instruction can't be found. While we're here, add a more descriptive warning for STT_FUNC symbols found at the end of a section. [ This also solves a PowerPC regression reported by Sathvika Vasireddy. ] Reported-by: Naveen N. 2023-01-09perf tests bpf prologue: Fix bpf-script-test-prologue test compile issue ↵Athira Rajeev1-0/+2
with clang While running 'perf test' for bpf, observed that "BPF prologue generation" test case fails to compile with clang. Logs below from powerpc: <stdin>:33:2: error: use of undeclared identifier 'fmode_t' fmode_t f_mode = (fmode_t)_f_mode; ^ <stdin>:37:6: error: use of undeclared identifier 'f_mode'; did you mean '_f_mode'? if (f_mode & FMODE_WRITE) ^~~~~~ _f_mode <stdin>:30:60: note: '_f_mode' declared here int bpf_func__null_lseek(void *ctx, int err, unsigned long _f_mode, ^ 2 errors generated. The test code tests/bpf-script-test-prologue.c uses fmode_t. And the error above is for "fmode_t" which is defined in include/linux/types.h as part of kernel build directory: "/lib/modules/<kernel_version>/build" that comes from kernel devel [ soft link to /usr/src/<kernel_version> ]. Clang picks this header file from "-working-directory" build option that specifies this build folder. But the commit 14e4b9f4289aed2c ("perf trace: Raw augmented syscalls fix libbpf 1.0+ compatibility") changed the include directory to use: "/usr/include". Post this change, types.h from /usr/include/ is getting picked upwhich doesn’t contain definition of "fmode_t" and hence fails to compile. Compilation command before this commit: /usr/bin/clang -D__KERNEL__ -D__NR_CPUS__=72 -DLINUX_VERSION_CODE=0x50e00 -xc -I/root/lib/perf/include/bpf -nostdinc -I./arch/powerpc/include -I./arch/powerpc/include/generated -I./include -I./arch/powerpc/include/uapi -I./arch/powerpc/include/generated/uapi -I./include/uapi -I./include/generated/uapi -include ./include/linux/compiler-version.h -include ./include/linux/kconfig.h -Wno-unused-value -Wno-pointer-sign -working-directory /lib/modules/<ver>/build -c - -target bpf -g -O2 -o - Compilation command after this commit: /usr/bin/clang -D__KERNEL__ -D__NR_CPUS__=72 -DLINUX_VERSION_CODE=0x50e00 -xc -I/usr/include/ -nostdinc -I./arch/powerpc/include -I./arch/powerpc/include/generated -I./include -I./arch/powerpc/include/uapi -I./arch/powerpc/include/generated/uapi -I./include/uapi -I./include/generated/uapi -include ./include/linux/compiler-version.h -include ./include/linux/kconfig.h -Wno-unused-value -Wno-pointer-sign -working-directory /lib/modules/<ver>/build -c - -target bpf -g -O2 -o - The difference is addition of -I/usr/include/ in the first line which is causing the error.
