In devlink, some of the objects have separate ops registered alongside with the object itself. Port however have ops in devlink_ops structure. For drivers what register multiple kinds of ports with different ops this is not convenient. Introduce devlink_port_ops and a set of functions that allow drivers to pass ops pointer during port registration. All the RMBs in use will be mapped to the new link. Then the RMBs' MRs corresponding to the new link will be filled into SMCRv2 LLC ADD LINK messages. 2023-05-30rxrpc: Truncate UTS_RELEASE for rxrpc versionDavid Howells3-1/+12
UTS_RELEASE has a maximum length of 64 which can cause rxrpc_version to exceed the 65 byte message limit. Per the rx spec[1]: "If a server receives a packet with a type value of 13, and the client-initiated flag set, it should respond with a 65-byte payload containing a string that identifies the version of AFS software it is running." The current implementation causes a compile error when WERROR is turned on and/or UTS_RELEASE exceeds the length of 49 (making the version string more than 64 characters). Fix this by generating the string during module initialisation and limiting the UTS_RELEASE segment of the string does not exceed 49 chars. We need to make sure that the 64 bytes includes "linux-" at the front and " AF_RXRPC" at the back as this may be used in pattern matching. 2023-05-29tcp: Return user_mss for TCP_MAXSEG in CLOSE/LISTEN state if user_mss setCambda Zhu1-1/+2
This patch replaces the tp->mss_cache check in getting TCP_MAXSEG with tp->rx_opt.user_mss check for CLOSE/LISTEN sock. Since tp->mss_cache is initialized with TCP_MSS_DEFAULT, checking if it's zero is probably a bug. With this change, getting TCP_MAXSEG before connecting will return default MSS normally, and return user_mss if user_mss is set. 2023-05-29tcp: deny tcp_disconnect() when threads are waitingEric Dumazet3-0/+9
Historically connect(AF_UNSPEC) has been abused by syzkaller and other fuzzers to trigger various bugs. A recent one triggers a divide-by-zero [1], and Paolo Abeni was able to diagnose the issue. tcp_recvmsg_locked() has tests about sk_state being not TCP_LISTEN and TCP REPAIR mode being not used. Then later if socket lock is released in sk_wait_data(), another thread can call connect(AF_UNSPEC), then make this socket a TCP listener. When recvmsg() is resumed, it can eventually call tcp_cleanup_rbuf() and attempt a divide by 0 in tcp_rcv_space_adjust() [1] This patch adds a new socket field, counting number of threads blocked in sk_wait_event() and inet_wait_for_connect(). If this counter is not zero, tcp_disconnect() returns an error. This patch adds code in blocking socket system calls, thus should not hurt performance of non blocking ones. Syzkaller got a lot of crashes like: KASAN: use-after-free Write in *_timers* All of these crashes point to the same memory area: The buggy address belongs to the object at ffff88801f870000 which belongs to the cache kmalloc-8k of size 8192 The buggy address is located 5320 bytes inside of 8192-byte region [ffff88801f870000, ffff88801f872000) This area belongs to : batadv_priv->batadv_priv_dat->delayed_work->timer_list The reason for these issues is the lack of synchronization. Delayed work (batadv_dat_purge) schedules new timer/work while the device is being deleted. As the result new timer/delayed work is set after cancel_delayed_work_sync() was called. So after the device is freed the timer list contains pointer to already freed memory. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with syzkaller. Add DSA support for the phylink mac_prepare() and mac_finish() calls. These were introduced as part of the PCS support to allow MACs to perform preparatory steps prior to configuration, and finalisation steps after the MAC and PCS has been configured. Introducing phylink_pcs support to the mv88e6xxx DSA driver needs some code moved out of its mac_config() stage into the mac_prepare() and mac_finish() stages, and this commit facilitates such code in DSA drivers. 2023-05-26net: ynl: prefix uAPI header include with uapi/Jakub Kicinski6-6/+6
To keep things simple we used to include the uAPI header in the kernel in the #include <linux/$family.h> format. This works well enough, most of the genl families should have headers in include/net/ so linux/$family.h ends up referring to the uAPI header, anyway. And if it doesn't no big deal, we'll just include more info than we need. Unless that is there is a naming conflict. Someone recently created include/linux/psp.h which will be a problem when supporting the PSP protocol. (I'm talking about work-in-progress patches, but it's just a proof that assuming lack of name conflicts was overly optimistic.) 2023-05-26net/core: Enable socket busy polling on -RTKurt Kanzenbach2-4/+7
Busy polling is currently not allowed on PREEMPT_RT, because it disables preemption while invoking the NAPI callback. It is not possible to acquire sleeping locks with disabled preemption. For details see commit 20ab39d13e2e ("net/core: disable NET_RX_BUSY_POLL on PREEMPT_RT"). However, strict cyclic and/or low latency network applications may prefer busy polling e.g., using AF_XDP instead of interrupt driven communication. The preempt_disable() is used in order to prevent the poll_owner and NAPI owner to be preempted while owning the resource to ensure progress. Netpoll performs busy polling in order to acquire the lock. NAPI is locked by setting the NAPIF_STATE_SCHED flag. There is no busy polling if the flag is set and the "owner" is preempted. Worst case is that the task owning NAPI gets preempted and NAPI processing stalls. This is can be prevented by properly prioritising the tasks within the system. Allow RX_BUSY_POLL on PREEMPT_RT if NETPOLL is disabled. Don't disable preemption on PREEMPT_RT within the busy poll loop. Tested on x86 hardware with v6.1-RT and v6.3-RT on Intel i225 (igc) with AF_XDP/ZC sockets configured to run in busy polling mode. As part of our experimentation, we have been testing out packet on 300bps HF, and playing with net/rom. For HF packet at this baud rate you really need to make sure that your MTU is relatively low; AX.25 suggests a PACLEN of 60, and a net/rom PACLEN of 40 to go with that. However the Linux net/rom support didn't work with a low PACLEN; the mkiss module would truncate packets if you set the PACLEN below about 200 or so, e.g.: Apr 19 14:00:51 radio kernel: [12985.747310] mkiss: ax1: truncating oversized transmit packet! This didn't make any sense to me (if the packets are smaller why would they be truncated?) so I started investigating. I looked at the packets using ethereal, and found that many were just huge compared to what I would expect. BACKGROUND ========== When multiple work items are queued to a workqueue, their execution order doesn't match the queueing order. They may get executed in any order and simultaneously. When fully serialized execution - one by one in the queueing order - is needed, an ordered workqueue should be used which can be created with alloc_ordered_workqueue(). However, alloc_ordered_workqueue() was a later addition. Before it, an ordered workqueue could be obtained by creating an UNBOUND workqueue with @max_active==1. This originally was an implementation side-effect which was broken by 4c16bd327c74 ("workqueue: restore WQ_UNBOUND/max_active==1 to be ordered"). Because there were users that depended on the ordered execution, 5c0338c68706 ("workqueue: restore WQ_UNBOUND/max_active==1 to be ordered") made workqueue allocation path to implicitly promote UNBOUND workqueues w/ @max_active==1 to ordered workqueues. While this has worked okay, overloading the UNBOUND allocation interface this way creates other issues. It's difficult to tell whether a given workqueue actually needs to be ordered and users that legitimately want a min concurrency level wq unexpectedly gets an ordered one instead. With planned UNBOUND workqueue updates to improve execution locality and more prevalence of chiplet designs which can benefit from such improvements, this isn't a state we wanna be in forever. This patch series audits all callsites that create an UNBOUND workqueue w/ @max_active==1 and converts them to alloc_ordered_workqueue() as necessary. 2023-05-25net: ipv4: use consistent txhash in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECVAntoine Tenart2-6/+12
When using IPv4/TCP, skb->hash comes from sk->sk_txhash except in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECV where it's not set in the reply skb from ip_send_unicast_reply. Those packets will have a mismatched hash with others from the same flow as their hashes will be 0. IPv6 does not have the same issue as the hash is set from the socket txhash in those cases. This commits sets the hash in the reply skb from ip_send_unicast_reply, which makes the IPv4 code behaving like IPv6. 2023-05-25leds: Change led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() delay parameters to pass-by-valueHans de Goede3-9/+4
led_blink_set[_oneshot]()'s delay_on and delay_off function parameters are pass by reference, so that hw-blink implementations can report back the actual achieved delays when the values have been rounded to something the hw supports. This is really only interesting for the sysfs API / the timer trigger. Other triggers don't really care about this and none of the callers of led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() do anything with the returned delay values. Change the led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() delay parameters to pass-by-value, there are 2 reasons for this: 1. led_cdev->blink_set() may sleep, while led_trigger_blink() may not. So on hw where led_cdev->blink_set() sleeps the call needs to be deferred to a workqueue, in which case the actual achieved delays are unknown (this is a preparation patch for the deferring). 2. Since the callers don't care about the actual achieved delays, allowing callers to directly pass a value leads to simpler code for most callers. 2023-05-24devlink: pass devlink_port pointer to ops->port_del() instead of indexJiri Pirko1-8/+3
Historically there was a reason why port_dev() along with for example port_split() did get port_index instead of the devlink_port pointer. With the locking changes that were done which ensured devlink instance mutex is hold for every command, the port ops could get devlink_port pointer directly. Change the forgotten port_dev() op to be as others and pass devlink_port pointer instead of port_index. 2023-05-24udp: Stop using RTO_ONLINK.Guillaume Nault1-11/+6
Use ip_sendmsg_scope() to properly initialise the scope in flowi4_init_output(), instead of overriding tos with the RTO_ONLINK flag. The objective is to eventually remove RTO_ONLINK, which will allow converting .flowi4_tos to dscp_t. Now that the scope is determined by ip_sendmsg_scope(), we need to check its result to set the 'connected' variable. Use ip_sendmsg_scope() to properly initialise the scope in flowi4_init_output(), instead of overriding tos with the RTO_ONLINK flag. The objective is to eventually remove RTO_ONLINK, which will allow converting .flowi4_tos to dscp_t. The MSG_DONTROUTE and SOCK_LOCALROUTE cases were already handled by raw_sendmsg() (SOCK_LOCALROUTE was handled by the RT_CONN_FLAGS*() macros called by get_rtconn_flags()). However, opt.is_strictroute wasn't taken into account. Therefore, a side effect of this patch is to now honour opt.is_strictroute, and thus align raw_sendmsg() with ping_v4_sendmsg() and udp_sendmsg(). Since raw_sendmsg() was the only user of get_rtconn_flags(), we can now remove this function. 2023-05-23net: fix skb leak in __skb_tstamp_tx()Pratyush Yadav1-1/+3
Commit 50749f2dd685 ("tcp/udp: Fix memleaks of sk and zerocopy skbs with TX timestamp.") added a call to skb_orphan_frags_rx() to fix leaks with zerocopy skbs. But it ended up adding a leak of its own. When skb_orphan_frags_rx() fails, the function just returns, leaking the skb it just cloned. Free it before returning.
