2014-06-06sysctl: convert use of typedef ctl_table to struct ctl_tableJoe Perches1-3/+3

2011-11-02sysctl: add support for poll()Lucas De Marchi1-0/+23
Adding support for poll() in sysctl fs allows userspace to receive notifications of changes in sysctl entries. This adds a infrastructure to allow files in sysctl fs to be pollable and implements it for hostname and domainname. 2011-10-31kernel: Map most files to use export.h instead of module.hPaul Gortmaker1-1/+1
The changed files were only including linux/module.h for the EXPORT_SYMBOL infrastructure, and nothing else. Revector them onto the isolated export header for faster compile times. Nothing to see here but a whole lot of instances of: -#include <linux/module.h> +#include <linux/export.h> This commit is only changing the kernel dir; next targets will probably be mm, fs, the arch dirs, etc. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <[email protected]>
2009-11-12sysctl kernel: Remove binary sysctl logicEric W. Biederman1-31/+0
Now that sys_sysctl is a generic wrapper around /proc/sys .ctl_name and .strategy members of sysctl tables are dead code. Remove them. 2009-09-24sysctl: remove "struct file *" argument of ->proc_handlerAlexey Dobriyan1-2/+2
It's unused. It isn't needed -- read or write flag is already passed and sysctl shouldn't care about the rest. It _was_ used in two places at arch/frv for some reason. 2009-04-02proc_sysctl: use CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL around ipc and utsname proc_handlersSerge E. Hallyn1-1/+1
As pointed out by Cedric Le Goater (in response to Alexey's original comment wrt mqns), ipc_sysctl.c and utsname_sysctl.c are using CONFIG_PROC_FS, not CONFIG_PROC_SYSCTL, to determine whether to define the proc_handlers. Change that. Signed-off-by: Serge E. 2008-10-16sysctl: simplify ->strategyAlexey Dobriyan1-3/+2
name and nlen parameters passed to ->strategy hook are unused, remove them. In general ->strategy hook should know what it's doing, and don't do something tricky for which, say, pointer to original userspace array may be needed (name). 2007-11-29Isolate the UTS namespace's domainname and hostname backPavel Emelyanov1-0/+4
Commit 7d69a1f4a72b18876c99c697692b78339d491568 ("remove CONFIG_UTS_NS and CONFIG_IPC_NS") by Cedric Le Goater accidentally removed the code that prevented the uts->hostname and uts->domainname values from being overwritten from another namespace. In other words, setting hostname/domainname via sysfs (echo xxx > /proc/sys/kernel/(host|domain)name) cased the new value to be set in init UTS namespace only. Return the isolation back. CONFIG_UTS_NS and CONFIG_IPC_NS have very little value as they only deactivate the unshare of the uts and ipc namespaces and do not improve performance. 2007-02-14[PATCH] sysctl: remove insert_at_head from register_sysctlEric W. Biederman1-1/+1
The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented. I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register duplicate sysctl entries. So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future enhancments harder. Signed-off-by: Eric W. 2007-02-14[PATCH] sysctl: move utsname sysctls to their own fileEric W. Biederman1-0/+146
This is just a simple cleanup to keep kernel/sysctl.c from getting to crowded with special cases, and by keeping all of the utsname logic to together it makes the code a little more readable.
