| 2007-11-29 | Isolate the UTS namespace's domainname and hostname back | Pavel Emelyanov | 1 | -0/+4 | |
| Commit 7d69a1f4a72b18876c99c697692b78339d491568 ("remove CONFIG_UTS_NS and CONFIG_IPC_NS") by Cedric Le Goater accidentally removed the code that prevented the uts->hostname and uts->domainname values from being overwritten from another namespace. In other words, setting hostname/domainname via sysfs (echo xxx > /proc/sys/kernel/(host|domain)name) cased the new value to be set in init UTS namespace only. Return the isolation back. | 2007-07-16 | remove CONFIG_UTS_NS and CONFIG_IPC_NS | Cedric Le Goater | 1 | -4/+1 | |
| CONFIG_UTS_NS and CONFIG_IPC_NS have very little value as they only deactivate the unshare of the uts and ipc namespaces and do not improve performance. | 2007-02-14 | [PATCH] sysctl: remove insert_at_head from register_sysctl | Eric W. Biederman | 1 | -1/+1 | |
| The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented. I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register duplicate sysctl entries. So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future enhancments harder. Signed-off-by: Eric W. | 2007-02-14 | [PATCH] sysctl: move utsname sysctls to their own file | Eric W. Biederman | 1 | -0/+146 | |
| This is just a simple cleanup to keep kernel/sysctl.c from getting to crowded with special cases, and by keeping all of the utsname logic to together it makes the code a little more readable.
