2019-09-27drm/vram: Support top-down placement flagThomas Zimmermann1-0/+1
Pinning lots of small buffer objects, such as cursors or sprites, to video memory can lead to fragmentation, which is a problem for devices with only a small amount of memory. As a result, framebuffer images might not get pinned, even though there's enough space available overall. The flag DRM_GEM_VRAM_PL_FLAG_TOPDOWN marks buffer objects to be pinned at the high end of video memory. This leaves contiguous space available at the memory's low end. Extends the user space ioctl for CL submissions so it can include a request to flush the cache once the CL execution has completed. We say that all of the bits in possible_clones must be set before calling drm_encoder_init(). This isn't true though, since: * The driver may not even have all of the encoder objects that could be used as clones initialized at that point * possible_crtcs isn't used at all outside of userspace, so it's not actually needed to initialize it until drm_dev_register() So, fix it. 2019-09-13drm: bridge/dw_hdmi: add audio sample channel status settingYakir Yang1-0/+1
When transmitting IEC60985 linear PCM audio, we configure the Aduio Sample Channel Status information in the IEC60958 frame. The status bit is already available in iec.status of hdmi_codec_params. This fix the issue that audio does not come out on some monitors (e.g. LG 22CV241) Note that these registers are only for interfaces: I2S audio interface, General Purpose Audio (GPA), or AHB audio DMA (AHBAUDDMA). For S/PDIF interface this information comes from the stream. Currently this function dw_hdmi_set_channel_status is only called from dw-hdmi-i2s-audio in I2S setup. 2019-09-11drm/ttm: turn ttm_bo_device.vma_manager into a pointerGerd Hoffmann1-2/+6
Rename the embedded struct vma_offset_manager, new name is _vma_manager. ttm_bo_device.vma_manager changed to a pointer. The ttm_bo_device_init() function gets an additional vma_manager argument which allows to initialize ttm with a different vma manager. When passing NULL the embedded _vma_manager is used. All callers are updated to pass NULL, so the behavior doesn't change. The kmap and kunmap operations of GEM VRAM buffers can now be called in interleaving pairs. The first call to drm_gem_vram_kmap() maps the buffer's memory to kernel address space and the final call to drm_gem_vram_kunmap() unmaps the memory. Intermediate calls to these functions increment or decrement a reference counter. 2019-09-08drm/bridge: panel: Infer connector type from panel by defaultLaurent Pinchart1-4/+7
The drm panel bridge creates a connector using a connector type explicitly passed by the display controller or bridge driver that instantiates the panel bridge. Now that drm_panel reports its connector type, we can use it to avoid passing an explicit (and often incorrect) connector type to drm_panel_bridge_add() and devm_drm_panel_bridge_add(). Several drivers report incorrect or unknown connector types to userspace. Reporting a different type may result in a breakage. For that reason, rename (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add_typed(), and add new (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() functions that use the panel connector type. Update all callers of (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to the _typed function, they will be converted one by one after testing. 2019-09-08drm/panel: Add and fill drm_panel type fieldLaurent Pinchart1-1/+11
Add a type field to the drm_panel structure to report the panel type, using DRM_MODE_CONNECTOR_* macros (the values that make sense are LVDS, eDP, DSI and DPI). This will be used to initialise the corresponding connector type. Update all panel drivers accordingly. The panel-simple driver only specifies the type for the known to be LVDS panels, while all other panels are left as unknown and will be converted on a case-by-case basis as they all need to be carefully reviewed. Unfortunately the DP MST helpers do not have much in the way of debugging utilities. So, let's add some! This adds basic debugging output for down sideband requests that we send from the driver, so that we can actually discern what's happening when sideband requests timeout. Since there wasn't really a good way of testing that any of this worked, I ended up writing simple selftests that lightly test sideband message encoding and decoding as well. Enjoy! I'm not sure whether this might or might not explain some of the missed vblank hilarity we've been seeing on various drivers (but those got tracked down to driver issues, at least mostly). I think those all go through the vblank completion event, which has unconditional barriers - it always takes the spinlock. 2019-08-17dma-fence: Store the timestamp in the same union as the cb_listChris Wilson1-5/+19
The timestamp and the cb_list are mutually exclusive, the cb_list can only be added to prior to being signaled (and once signaled we drain), while the timestamp is only valid upon being signaled. Both the timestamp and the cb_list are only valid while the fence is alive, and as soon as no references are held can be replaced by the rcu_head. In this scenario, while keeping the rcu_read_lock we need to establish that no fence was changed in the dma_resv after a read (or full) memory barrier. 2019-08-12drm/panfrost: Add support for GPU heap allocationsRob Herring1-0/+1
The midgard/bifrost GPUs need to allocate GPU heap memory which is allocated on GPU page faults and not pinned in memory. The vendor driver calls this functionality GROW_ON_GPF. This implementation assumes that BOs allocated with the PANFROST_BO_NOEXEC flag are never mmapped or exported. Both of those may actually work, but I'm unsure if there's some interaction there. It would cause the whole object to be pinned in memory which would defeat the point of this. On faults, we map in 2MB at a time in order to utilize huge pages (if enabled). Currently, once we've mapped pages in, they are only unmapped if the BO is freed. Once we add shrinker support, we can unmap pages with the shrinker. 2019-08-12drm/panfrost: Add a no execute flag for BO allocationsRob Herring1-0/+2
Executable buffers have an alignment restriction that they can't cross 16MB boundary as the GPU program counter is 24-bits. This restriction is currently not handled and we just get lucky. As current userspace assumes all BOs are executable, that has to remain the default. So add a new PANFROST_BO_NOEXEC flag to allow userspace to indicate which BOs are not executable. There is also a restriction that executable buffers cannot start or end on a 4GB boundary. This is mostly avoided as there is only 4GB of space currently and the beginning is already blocked out for NULL ptr detection. Add support to handle this restriction fully regardless of the current constraints. For existing userspace, all created BOs remain executable, but the GPU VA alignment will be increased to the size of the BO. This shouldn't matter as there is plenty of GPU VA space.
