2022-11-03serial: Convert serial_rs485 to kernel docIlpo Järvinen1-19/+36
Convert struct serial_rs485 comments to kernel doc format and include it into documentation. 2022-06-27serial: Support for RS-485 multipoint addressesIlpo Järvinen1-2/+18
Add support for RS-485 multipoint addressing using 9th bit [*]. The addressing mode is configured through ->rs485_config(). ADDRB in termios indicates 9th bit addressing mode is enabled. In this mode, 9th bit is used to indicate an address (byte) within the communication line. ADDRB can only be enabled/disabled through ->rs485_config() that is also responsible for setting the destination and receiver (filter) addresses. Add traps to detect unwanted changes to struct serial_rs485 layout using static_assert(). [*] Technically, RS485 is just an electronic spec and does not itself specify the 9th bit addressing mode but 9th bit seems at least "semi-standard" way to do addressing with RS485. 2021-03-10tty: cyclades, remove this orphanJiri Slaby1-2/+2
The Cyclades driver was orphaned by commit d459883e6c54 (MAINTAINERS: remove two dead e-mail) 13 years ago. Noone stepped up to take care of them and to fix all the issues the driver has. On the top of that, there is no way to obtain the firmware for Z cards from the vendor as cyclades.com ceased to exist. So it's time to drop the driver with all its traces. 2018-10-02tty/serial_core: add ISO7816 infrastructureNicolas Ferre1-0/+17
Add the ISO7816 ioctl and associated accessors and data structure. Drivers can then use this common implementation to handle ISO7816 (smart cards). 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with a licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license. Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was chosen based on the license information in the file. GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall exception: NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work". This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL code, without confusing license compliance tools. Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format is: ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE) SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will happen in a separate step. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the methodology of how this patch was researched. 2017-05-18serial: uapi: Add support for bus terminationJan Kiszka1-0/+3
The Siemens IOT2040 comes with a RS485 interface that allows to enable or disable bus termination via software. Add a bit to the flags field of serial_rs485 that applications can set in order to request this feature from the hardware. This seems generic enough to add it for everyone. Existing driver will simply ignore it when set. 2015-12-13serial: support 16-bit register interface for consoleMasahiro Yamada1-0/+1
Currently, 8-bit (MMIO) and 32-bit (MMIO32) register interfaces are supported for the 8250 console, but the 16-bit (MMIO16) is not. The 8250 UART device on my board is connected to a 16-bit bus and my main motivation is to use earlycon with it. 2015-03-07serial: uapi: Declare all userspace-visible io typesPeter Hurley1-0/+4
ioctl(TIOCGSERIAL|TIOCSSERIAL) report and can change the port->iotype. UART drivers use the UPIO_* definitions, but the uapi header defines parallel values and userspace uses these parallel values for ioctls; thus the userspace values are definitive. Define UPIO_* iotypes in terms of the uapi defines, SERIAL_IO_*; extend the uapi defines to include all values in use by the serial core.
