2018-06-07mm: mark pages in use for page tablesMatthew Wilcox1-1/+1
Define a new PageTable bit in the page_type and use it to mark pages in use as page tables. This can be helpful when debugging crashdumps or analysing memory fragmentation. Add a KPF flag to report these pages to userspace and update page-types.c to interpret that flag. Note that only pages currently accounted as NR_PAGETABLES are tracked as PageTable; this does not include pgd/p4d/pud/pmd pages. Those will be the subject of a later patch. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX license identifier to uapi header files with no ↵Greg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
license Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default are files without license information under the default license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception which is in the kernels COPYING file: NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work". otherwise syscall usage would not be possible. Update the files which contain no license information with an SPDX license identifier. The chosen identifier is 'GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note' which is the officially assigned identifier for the Linux syscall exception. SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the methodology of how this patch was researched. 2015-09-10proc: export idle flag via kpageflagsVladimir Davydov1-0/+1
As noted by Minchan, a benefit of reading idle flag from /proc/kpageflags is that one can easily filter dirty and/or unevictable pages while estimating the size of unused memory. Note that idle flag read from /proc/kpageflags may be stale in case the page was accessed via a PTE, because it would be too costly to iterate over all page mappings on each /proc/kpageflags read to provide an up-to-date value. To make sure the flag is up-to-date one has to read /sys/kernel/mm/page_idle/bitmap first. 2015-02-11mm:add KPF_ZERO_PAGE flag for /proc/kpageflagsWang, Yalin1-0/+1
Add KPF_ZERO_PAGE flag for zero_page, so that userspace processes can detect zero_page in /proc/kpageflags, and then do memory analysis more accurately. 2014-10-09mm/balloon_compaction: add vmstat counters and kpageflags bitKonstantin Khlebnikov1-0/+1
Always mark pages with PageBalloon even if balloon compaction is disabled and expose this mark in /proc/kpageflags as KPF_BALLOON. Also this patch adds three counters into /proc/vmstat: "balloon_inflate", "balloon_deflate" and "balloon_migrate". They accumulate balloon activity. Current size of balloon is (balloon_inflate - balloon_deflate) pages. All generic balloon code now gathered under option CONFIG_MEMORY_BALLOON. It should be selected by ballooning driver which wants use this feature. Currently virtio-balloon is the only user.
