2008-05-04x86: fix up bootparam.h for userspace inclusionRusty Russell1-4/+4
commit 8b664aa66e824a0ddf4ec56d41fa0cf7bb374de6 (x86, boot: add linked list of struct setup_data) put a new struct in bootparam.h, but didn't use the userspace-safe types. 2008-04-26x86, boot: add linked list of struct setup_dataHuang, Ying1-0/+14
This patch adds a field of 64-bit physical pointer to NULL terminated single linked list of struct setup_data to real-mode kernel header. This is used as a more extensible boot parameters passing mechanism. 2008-01-30x86: EFI runtime service supportHuang, Ying1-2/+3
This patch adds basic runtime services support for EFI x86_64 system. The main file of the patch is the addition of efi_64.c for x86_64. This file is modeled after the EFI IA32 avatar. EFI runtime services initialization are implemented in efi_64.c. Some x86_64 specifics are worth noting here. On x86_64, parameters passed to EFI firmware services need to follow the EFI calling convention. For this purpose, a set of functions named efi_call<x> (<x> is the number of parameters) are implemented. EFI function calls are wrapped before calling the firmware service. The duplicated code between efi_32.c and efi_64.c is placed in efi.c to remove them from efi_32.c. 2007-10-23Make asm-x86/bootparam.h includable from userspace.Rusty Russell1-54/+54
To actually write a bootloader (or, say, the lguest launcher) currently requires duplication of these structures. Making them includable from userspace is much nicer. We merge the common userspace-required definitions of e820_32/64.h into e820.h for export. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <[email protected]>
2007-10-22update boot spec to 2.07Rusty Russell1-2/+7
Updates for version 2.07 of the boot protocol. This includes: load_flags.KEEP_SEGMENTS- flag to request/inhibit segment reloads hardware_subarch - what subarchitecture we're booting under hardware_subarch_data - per-architecture data The intention of these changes is to make booting a paravirtualized kernel work via the normal Linux boot protocol. 2007-10-16[x86] remove uses of magic macros for boot_params accessH. Peter Anvin1-0/+3
Instead of using magic macros for boot_params access, simply use the boot_params structure. Signed-off-by: H. Peter Anvin <[email protected]>
