2020-06-02mm: remove the pgprot argument to __vmallocChristoph Hellwig1-1/+1
The pgprot argument to __vmalloc is always PAGE_KERNEL now, so remove it. 2018-12-28mm: convert totalram_pages and totalhigh_pages variables to atomicArun KS1-1/+1
totalram_pages and totalhigh_pages are made static inline function. Main motivation was that managed_page_count_lock handling was complicating things. It was discussed in length here, https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/995739/#1181785 So it seemes better to remove the lock and convert variables to atomic, with preventing poteintial store-to-read tearing as a bonus. 2009-09-22mm: replace various uses of num_physpages by totalram_pagesJan Beulich1-1/+1
Sizing of memory allocations shouldn't depend on the number of physical pages found in a system, as that generally includes (perhaps a huge amount of) non-RAM pages. The amount of what actually is usable as storage should instead be used as a basis here. Some of the calculations (i.e. those not intending to use high memory) should likely even use (totalram_pages - totalhigh_pages). 2008-02-05is_vmalloc_addr(): Check if an address is within the vmalloc boundariesChristoph Lameter1-2/+1
Checking if an address is a vmalloc address is done in a couple of places. Define a common version in mm.h and replace the other checks. Again the include structures suck. The definition of VMALLOC_START and VMALLOC_END is not available in vmalloc.h since highmem.c cannot be included there. 2005-10-11NTFS: In attrib.c::ntfs_attr_set() call balance_dirty_pages_ratelimited()Anton Altaparmakov1-2/+1
and cond_resched() in the main loop as we could be dirtying a lot of pages and this ensures we play nice with the VM and the system as a whole. Signed-off-by: Anton Altaparmakov <[email protected]>
2005-10-08[PATCH] gfp flags annotations - part 1Al Viro1-1/+1
- added typedef unsigned int __nocast gfp_t; - replaced __nocast uses for gfp flags with gfp_t - it gives exactly the same warnings as far as sparse is concerned, doesn't change generated code (from gcc point of view we replaced unsigned int with typedef) and documents what's going on far better. 2005-09-08NTFS: Allow highmem kmalloc() in ntfs_malloc_nofs() and add _nofail() version.Anton Altaparmakov1-6/+42
- Modify fs/ntfs/malloc.h::ntfs_malloc_nofs() to do the kmalloc() based allocations with __GFP_HIGHMEM, analogous to how the vmalloc() based allocations are done. - Add fs/ntfs/malloc.h::ntfs_malloc_nofs_nofail() which is analogous to ntfs_malloc_nofs() but it performs allocations with __GFP_NOFAIL and hence cannot fail. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
