2024-08-20irqchip/gic-v4: Fix ordering between vmapp and vpe locksMarc Zyngier1-6/+10
The recently established lock ordering mandates that the per-VM vmapp_lock is acquired before taking the per-VPE lock. As it turns out, its_vpe_set_affinity() takes the VPE lock, and then calls into its_send_vmovp(), which itself takes the vmapp lock. Obviously, this is a lock order violation. As its_send_vmovp() is only called from its_vpe_set_affinity(), hoist the vmapp locking from the former into the latter, restoring the expected order. 2024-08-20irqchip/sifive-plic: Probe plic driver early for Allwinner D1 platformAnup Patel1-44/+71
The latest Linux RISC-V no longer boots on the Allwinner D1 platform because the sun4i_timer driver fails to get an interrupt from PLIC due to the recent conversion of the PLIC to a platform driver. Converting the sun4i timer to a platform driver does not work either because the D1 does not have a SBI timer available so early boot hangs. See the 'Closes:' link for deeper analysis. The real fix requires enabling the SBI time extension in the platform firmware (OpenSBI) and convert sun4i_timer into platform driver. Unfortunately, the real fix involves changing multiple places and can't be achieved in a short duration and aside of that requires users to update firmware. As a work-around, retrofit PLIC probing such that the PLIC is probed early only for the Allwinner D1 platform and probed as a regular platform driver for rest of the RISC-V platforms. In the process, partially revert some of the previous changes because the PLIC device pointer is not available in all probing paths. 2024-08-20firmware: arm_ffa: Fetch the Rx/Tx buffer size using ffa_features()Sudeep Holla1-16/+28
An endpoint can discover the minimum size, maximum size and alignment boundary for the Rx/Tx buffers by passing the function ID of the FFA_RXTX_MAP ABI as input in the FFA_FEATURES interface. The maximum size is an optional field and a value of 0 means that the partition manager or the hypervisor does not enforce a maximum size. 2024-08-20firmware: arm_ffa: Add support for FFA_YIELD in direct messagingSudeep Holla1-8/+15
Successful completion of both direct messaging function can be indicated through an invocation of FFA_YIELD or GGA_INTERRUPT by the callee. FFA_INTERRUPT indicates that the direct request was interrupted and must be resumed through the FFA_RUN interface which is already done in the driver. FFA_YIELD indicates that the receiver endpoint has transitioned to the blocked runtime state and must be resumed through the FFA_RUN interface. However, the way receiver endpoint gets unblocked is implementation defined. So, the driver just sleeps for 1 - 2ms and issues FFA_RUN. 2024-08-20firmware: arm_ffa: Add support for FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_{REQ,RESP}2Sudeep Holla1-2/+47
FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_{REQ,RESP} supported only x3-x7 to pass implementation defined values as part of the message. This may not be sufficient sometimes and also it would be good to use all the registers supported by SMCCC v1.2 (x0-x17) for such register based communication. Also another limitation with the FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_{REQ,RESP} is the ability to target a specific service within the partition based on it's UUID. In order to address both of the above limitation, FF-A v1.2 introduced FFA_MSG_SEND_DIRECT_{REQ,RESP}2 which has the ability to target the message to a specific service based on its UUID within a partition as well as utilise all the available registers(x4-x17 specifically) for the communication. FF-A v1.2 introduced FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET_REGS which is similar to FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET except that the former uses the registers to get the required information instead of the Rx buffer which the latter uses. We need to first check if the platform supports this new API using FFA_FEATURES so that we can fallback to the FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET (which is mandatory) if FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET_REGS is not implemented. 2024-08-20coresight: Emit sink ID in the HW_ID packetsJames Clark3-17/+26
For Perf to be able to decode when per-sink trace IDs are used, emit the sink that's being written to for each ETM. Perf currently errors out if it sees a newer packet version so instead of bumping it, add a new minor version field. This can be used to signify new versions that have backwards compatible fields. Considering this change is only for high core count machines, it doesn't make sense to make a breaking change for everyone. 2024-08-20coresight: Remove pending trace ID release mechanismJames Clark3-75/+41
Pending the release of IDs was a way of managing concurrent sysfs and Perf sessions in a single global ID map. Perf may have finished while sysfs hadn't, and Perf shouldn't release the IDs in use by sysfs and vice versa. Now that Perf uses its own exclusive ID maps, pending release doesn't result in any different behavior than just releasing all IDs when the last Perf session finishes. As part of the per-sink trace ID change, we would have still had to make the pending mechanism work on a per-sink basis, due to the overlapping ID allocations, so instead of making that more complicated, just remove it. 2024-08-20coresight: Use per-sink trace ID maps for Perf sessionsJames Clark8-17/+38
This will allow sessions with more than CORESIGHT_TRACE_IDS_MAX ETMs as long as there are fewer than that many ETMs connected to each sink. Each sink owns its own trace ID map, and any Perf session connecting to that sink will allocate from it, even if the sink is currently in use by other users. This is similar to the existing behavior where the dynamic trace IDs are constant as long as there is any concurrent Perf session active. It's not completely optimal because slightly more IDs will be used than necessary, but the optimal solution involves tracking the PIDs of each session and allocating ID maps based on the session owner. This is difficult to do with the combination of per-thread and per-cpu modes and some scheduling issues. The complexity of this isn't likely to worth it because even with multiple users they'd just see a difference in the ordering of ID allocations rather than hitting any limits (unless the hardware does have too many ETMs connected to one sink). The global CPU ID mappings won't work for per-sink ID maps so move it to the ID map struct. coresight_trace_id_release_all_pending() is hard coded to operate on the default map, but once Perf sessions use their own maps the pending release mechanism will be deleted. So it doesn't need to be extended to accept a trace ID map argument at this point. The trace ID API is currently hard coded to always use the global map. Add public versions that allow the map to be passed in so that Perf mode can use per-sink maps. Keep the non-map versions so that sysfs mode can continue to use the default global map. System ID functions are unchanged because they will always use the default map. 2024-08-20bonding: fix xfrm state handling when clearing active slaveNikolay Aleksandrov1-1/+1
If the active slave is cleared manually the xfrm state is not flushed. This leads to xfrm add/del imbalance and adding the same state multiple times. For example when the device cannot handle anymore states we get: [ 1169.884811] bond0: (slave eni0np1): bond_ipsec_add_sa_all: failed to add SA because it's filled with the same state after multiple active slave clearings. This change also has a few nice side effects: user-space gets a notification for the change, the old device gets its mac address and promisc/mcast adjusted properly. 2024-08-20firewire: core: update fw_device outside of device_find_child()Takashi Sakamoto1-57/+59
When detecting updates of bus topology, the data of fw_device is newly allocated and caches the content of configuration ROM from the corresponding node. Then, the tree of device is sought to find the previous data of fw_device corresponding to the node. If found, the previous data is updated and reused and the data of fw_device newly allocated is going to be released. The above procedure is done in the call of device_find_child(), however it is a bit abusing against the intention of the helper function, since it is preferable to find only without updating. 2024-08-20spi: spi-fsl-lpspi: limit PRESCALE bit in TCR registerCarlos Song1-2/+29
Referring to the errata ERR051608 of I.MX93, LPSPI TCR[PRESCALE] can only be configured to be 0 or 1, other values are not valid and will cause LPSPI to not work. Add the prescale limitation for LPSPI in I.MX93. Other platforms are not affected. 2024-08-20platform/x86: ISST: Fix return value on last invalid resourceSrinivas Pandruvada1-2/+1
When only the last resource is invalid, tpmi_sst_dev_add() is returing error even if there are other valid resources before. This function should return error when there are no valid resources. Here tpmi_sst_dev_add() is returning "ret" variable. But this "ret" variable contains the failure status of last call to sst_main(), which failed for the invalid resource. But there may be other valid resources before the last entry. To address this, do not update "ret" variable for sst_main() return status. If there are no valid resources, it is already checked for by !inst below the loop and -ENODEV is returned.
