To move workload related functions into scheduler.c, an expected way is
to collect all the init/clean functions related to vGPU workload
submission into fewer functions.
Rename intel_vgpu_{init, clean}_gvt_context() for above usage in future.

The context descriptors in elsp_dwords are stored in a reversed order and
the definition of context descriptor is also reversed. The revesred stuff
is hard to be used and might cause misunderstanding. Make them in the right
oder for following code re-factoring.
Tested on my SKL NUC.

opregion emulated with a copy from host which leads to some display
bugs such as guest resolution adjustment failure due to host opregion
fail to claim port D support. with a fake opregion table provided
to fully emulate opregion to meet guest port requirement.

As the page free path makes no distinction between cache hot and cold
pages, there is no real useful ordering of pages in the free list that
allocation requests can take advantage of. Juding from the users of
__GFP_COLD, it is likely that a number of them are the result of copying
other sites instead of actually measuring the impact. Remove the
__GFP_COLD parameter which simplifies a number of paths in the page
allocator.
This is potentially controversial but bear in mind that the size of the
per-cpu pagelists versus modern cache sizes means that the whole per-cpu
list can often fit in the L3 cache. Hence, there is only a potential
benefit for microbenchmarks that alloc/free pages in a tight loop. It's
even worse when THP is taken into account which has little or no chance
of getting a cache-hot page as the per-cpu list is bypassed and the
zeroing of multiple pages will thrash the cache anyway.
The truncate microbenchmarks are not shown as this patch affects the
allocation path and not the free path. A page fault microbenchmark was
tested but it showed no sigificant difference which is not surprising
given that the __GFP_COLD branches are a miniscule percentage of the
fault path.

All callers of release_pages claim the pages being released are cache
hot. As no one cares about the hotness of pages being released to the
allocator, just ditch the parameter.
No performance impact is expected as the overhead is marginal. The
parameter is removed simply because it is a bit stupid to have a useless
parameter copied everywhere.

parameter.

Patch series "kmemcheck: kill kmemcheck", v2.
As discussed at LSF/MM, kill kmemcheck.
KASan is a replacement that is able to work without the limitation of
kmemcheck (single CPU, slow). KASan is already upstream.
We are also not aware of any users of kmemcheck (or users who don't
consider KASan as a suitable replacement).
The only objection was that since KASAN wasn't supported by all GCC
versions provided by distros at that time we should hold off for 2
years, and try again.
Now that 2 years have passed, and all distros provide gcc that supports
KASAN, kill kmemcheck again for the very same reasons.

Remove kmemcheck annotations, and calls to kmemcheck from the kernel.

ZSTD tends to outperform deflate/inflate, thus we remove zlib from the
list of recommended algorithms and recommend zstd instead.

Over all, ZSTD has slower WRITE, but much faster READ (perhaps
a static compression buffer used during the test helped ZSTD a

As discussed at

someday we will remove rw_page(). If so, we need something to detect
such super-fast storage on which synchronous IO operations like the
current rw_page are always a win.
Introduces BDI_CAP_SYNCHRONOUS_IO to indicate such devices. With it, we
could use various optimization techniques.

With fast swap storage, the platform wants to use swap more aggressively
and swap-in is crucial to application latency.
The rw_page() based synchronous devices like zram, pmem and btt are such
fast storage. When I profile swapin performance with zram lz4
decompress test, S/W overhead is more than 70%. Maybe, it would be
bigger in nvdimm.
This patchset reduces swap-in latency by skipping swapcache if the swap
device is a synchronous device like a rw_page() based device.
It enhances by 45% my swapin test (5G sequential swapin, no readahead)
from 2.41sec to 1.64sec.
This patch (of 4):
Commit 19b7ccf8651d ("block: get rid of blk_integrity_revalidate()")
fixed a weird thing (i.e., reset BDI_CAP_STABLE_WRITES flag
unconditionally whenever revalidat_disk is called) so zram doesn't need
to reset the flag any more when revalidating the bdev. Instead, set the

Now CPSW driver configures min eth packet size to 60 octets (ETH_ZLEN)
which works in most of cases, but when port VLAN is configured on some
switch port, it also can be configured to force all egress packets to be
VLAN untagged. And in this case, CPSW driver will pad small packets to 60
octets, but final packet size on port egress can became less than 60 octets
due to VLAN tag removal and packet will be dropped.
Hence, fix it by accounting VLAN header in CPSW min eth packet size. While
here, use proper defines for CPSW_MAX_PACKET_SIZE also, instead of open
coding.

rndis_filter_device_add() is called both from netvsc_probe() when we
initially create the device and from set channels/mtu/ringparam
routines where we basically remove the device and add it back.
hw_features is reset in rndis_filter_device_add() and filled with
host data. However, we lose all additional flags which are set outside
of the driver, e.g. register_netdevice() adds NETIF_F_SOFT_FEATURES and
many others.
Unfortunately, calls to rndis_{query_hwcaps(), _set_offload_params()}
calls cannot be avoided on every RNDIS reset: host expects us to set
required features explicitly. Moreover, in theory hardware capabilities
can change and we need to reflect the change in hw_features.
Reset net->hw_features bits according to host data in
rndis_netdev_set_hwcaps(), clear corresponding feature bits
from net->features in case some features went missing (will never happen
in real life I guess but let's be consistent).

According to the description, first argument of genlmsg_nlhdr() points to
what genlmsg_put() returns, i.e. beginning of user header. Therefore we
should only subtract size of genetlink header and netlink message header,
not user header.
This also means we don't need to pass the pointer to genetlink family and
the same is true for genl_dump_check_consistent() which is the only caller
of genlmsg_nlhdr(). (Note that at the moment, these functions are only
used for families which do not have user header so that they are not
affected.)

If a cleanup task is not responded to while we are in bnx2fc_abts_cleanup, it
will hang the SCSI error handler since we use wait_for_completion instead of
wait_for_completion_timeout. So, use wait_for_completion_timeout so that we
don't hang the SCSI error handler thread forever.

"This is a fairly large rework of the IPMI code, along with a bunch of
smaller fixes. The major changes have been in the next tree for a
couple of months, so they should be good to do in.
- Some users had IPMI systems where the GUID of the IPMI controller
could change. So rescanning of the GUID was added. The naming of
some sysfs things was dependent on the GUID, however, so this
resulted in the sysfs interface code in IPMI changing to remove
that dependency and name the IPMI BMCs like other sysfs devices.
- The ipmi_si_intf.c code was fairly bloated with all the different
discovery methods (PCI, ACPI, SMBIOS, OF, platform, module
parameters, hot add). The structure of how the interfaces were
added was redone to make them more modular, then the individual
methods were pulled out into their own files"

50 patch series from Bart Van Assche, and a number of new features

Nothing really stands out, but there might be a few conflicts as you
take things in. In particular, the cleanups touched some of the same
lines as the new timer_setup changes.
Everything in this pull request has been through 0day and at least two
days of linux-next (since Stephen doesn't necessarily flag new
errors/warnings until day2). A few more items (about 30 patches) from
Intel and Mellanox showed up on the list on Tuesday. I've excluded
those from this pull request, and I'm sure some of them qualify as
fixes suitable to send any time, but I still have to review them
fully. If they contain mostly fixes and little or no new development,
then I will probably send them through by the end of the week just to
get them out of the way.
There was a break in my acceptance of patches which coincides with the
computer problems I had, and then when I got things mostly back under
control I had a backlog of patches to process, which I did mostly last
Friday and Monday. So there is a larger number of patches processed in

mutex_trylock() returns 1 if you take the lock and 0 if not. Assume you
take in_mutex on the first try, but you can't take out_mutex. Next times
you call mutex_trylock() in_mutex is going to fail. It's an endless
loop.
Solve the problem by waiting until the global refcount is 1 instead (the
refcount is 1 when the only active pvcalls frontend function is
pvcalls_front_release).

"The big highlight is support for the Scalable Vector Extension (SVE)
which required extensive ABI work to ensure we don't break existing
applications by blowing away their signal stack with the rather large
new vector context (<= 2 kbit per vector register). There's further
work to be done optimising things like exception return, but the ABI
is solid now.
Much of the line count comes from some new PMU drivers we have, but
they're pretty self-contained and I suspect we'll have more of them in
future.

drm_gem_cma_prime_import_sg_table() will fail if the number of entries
in the sg_table > 1. However, you can have a device that uses an IOMMU
engine and can map a discontiguous buffer with multiple entries that
have consecutive sg_dma_addresses, effectively making it contiguous.
Allow for that scenario by testing the entries in the sg_table for
contiguous coverage.

At the start of building a request, we would wait for roughly enough
space to fit the average request (to reduce the likelihood of having to
wait and abort partway through request construction). To achieve we
would try to begin a 0-length command packet, this just adds extra
confusion so make the wait-for-space explicit, as in the next patch we
want to move it from the backend to the i915_gem_request_alloc() so it
can ensure that the wait-for-space is the first operation in building a
new request.

We don't actually emit any commands into the ringbuffer, so we set it
very small. However, an upcoming change centralises the wait-for-space
into i915_gem_request_alloc() and that imposes a minimum size upon all
ringbuffers (mock or real) of MIN_SPACE_FOR_ADD_REQUEST. Grow the
mock ringbuffer such that we allocate a single page for the struct+buffer,
satisfying the new condition without wasting too much space.

While I have no solid proof that ILK follows the ELK path when it
comes to the stolen memory reserved area, there are some hints that
it might be the case. Unfortunately my ILK doesn't have this enabled,
and no way to enable it via the BIOS it seems.
So let's have ILK use the ELK code path, and let's toss in a WARN
into the code to see if we catch anyone with an ILK that has this
enabled to further analyze the situation.

Apparently there are some machines that put semi-sensible looking values
into the stolen "reserved" base and size, except those values are actually
outside the stolen memory. There is a bit in the register which
supposedly could tell us whether the reserved area is even enabled or
not. Let's check for that before we go trusting the base and size.
