2024-03-14nvme: fix reconnection fail due to reserved tag allocationChunguang Xu2-9/+4
We found a issue on production environment while using NVMe over RDMA, admin_q reconnect failed forever while remote target and network is ok. After dig into it, we found it may caused by a ABBA deadlock due to tag allocation. In my case, the tag was hold by a keep alive request waiting inside admin_q, as we quiesced admin_q while reset ctrl, so the request maked as idle and will not process before reset success. As fabric_q shares tagset with admin_q, while reconnect remote target, we need a tag for connect command, but the only one reserved tag was held by keep alive command which waiting inside admin_q. As a result, we failed to reconnect admin_q forever. In order to fix this issue, I think we should keep two reserved tags for admin queue. After commit cff49d58f57e ("spi: Unify error codes by replacing -ENOTSUPP with -EOPNOTSUPP"), our SPI NOR flashes would stop probing with the following visible in the kernel log: [ 2.196300] brcmstb_qspi f0440920.qspi: using bspi-mspi mode [ 2.210295] spi-nor: probe of spi1.0 failed with error -95 It turns out that the check in spi_mem_exec_op() was changed to check for -ENOTSUPP (old error code) or -EOPNOTSUPP (new error code), but this means that for drivers that were converted, the second condition is now true, and we stop falling through like we used to. Fix the error to check for neither error being neither -ENOTSUPP *nor* -EOPNOTSUPP. txgbe register clk which name is i2c_designware.pci_dev_id(), clk_name will be stored in clk_lookup_alloc. If PCIe bus number is larger than 0x39, clk_name size will be larger than 20 bytes. It exceeds clk_lookup_alloc MAX_DEV_ID limits. So the driver shortened clk_name. Commit 358e76fd613a ("drm/sun4i: hdmi: Consolidate atomic_check and mode_valid") changed the clock rate from an unsigned long to an unsigned long long resulting in a a 64-bit division that might not be supported on all platforms. 2024-03-13cpufreq: Fix per-policy boost behavior on SoCs using cpufreq_boost_set_sw()Sibi Sankar2-7/+13
In the existing code, per-policy flags don't have any impact i.e. if cpufreq_driver boost is enabled and boost is disabled for one or more of the policies, the cpufreq driver will behave as if boost is enabled. Fix this by incorporating per-policy boost flag in the policy->max computation used in cpufreq_frequency_table_cpuinfo and setting the default per-policy boost to mirror the cpufreq_driver boost flag. The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. Up until now the synchronization in the GPIO subsystem was broken. There was a single spinlock "protecting" multiple data structures but doing it wrong (as evidenced by several places where it would be released when a sleeping function was called and then reacquired without checking the protected state). We tried to use an RW semaphore before but the main issue with GPIO is that we have drivers implementing the interfaces in both sleeping and non-sleeping ways as well as user-facing interfaces that can be called both from process as well as atomic contexts. Both ends converge in the same code paths that can use neither spinlocks nor mutexes. The only reasonable way out is to use SRCU and go mostly lockless. To that end: we add several SRCU structs in relevant places and use them to assure consistency between API calls together with atomic reads and writes of GPIO descriptor flags where it makes sense. This code has spent several weeks in next and has received several fixes in the first week or two after which it stabilized nicely. The GPIO subsystem is now resilient to providers being suddenly unbound. We managed to also remove the existing character device RW semaphore and the obsolete global spinlock. Other than the locking rework we have one new driver (for Chromebook EC), much appreciated documentation improvements from Kent and the regular driver improvements, DT-bindings updates and GPIOLIB core tweaks.
