2022-08-30usb: dwc3: disable USB core PHY managementJohan Hovold1-0/+10
The dwc3 driver manages its PHYs itself so the USB core PHY management needs to be disabled. Use the struct xhci_plat_priv hack added by commits 46034a999c07 ("usb: host: xhci-plat: add platform data support") and f768e718911e ("usb: host: xhci-plat: add priv quirk for skip PHY initialization") to propagate the setting for now. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: gadget: Avoid duplicate requests to enable Run/StopWesley Cheng1-3/+5
Relocate the pullups_connected check until after it is ensured that there are no runtime PM transitions. If another context triggered the DWC3 core's runtime resume, it may have already enabled the Run/Stop. Do not re-run the entire pullup sequence again, as it may issue a core soft reset while Run/Stop is already set. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: qcom: fix wakeup implementationJohan Hovold2-4/+7
It is the Qualcomm glue wakeup interrupts that may be able to wake the system from suspend and this can now be described in the devicetree. Move the wakeup-source property handling over from the core driver and instead propagate the capability setting to the core device during probe. This is needed as there is currently no way for the core driver to query the wakeup setting of the glue device, but it is the core driver that manages the PHY power state during suspend. Also don't leave the PHYs enabled when system wakeup has been disabled through sysfs. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: qcom: fix peripheral and OTG suspendJohan Hovold1-3/+12
A recent commit implementing wakeup support in host mode instead broke suspend for peripheral and OTG mode. The hack that was added in the suspend path to determine the speed of any device connected to the USB2 bus not only accesses internal driver data for a child device, but also dereferences a NULL pointer or accesses freed data when the controller is not acting as host. There's no quick fix to the layering violation, but since reverting would leave us with broken suspend in host mode with wakeup triggering immediately, let's keep the hack for now. Fix the immediate issues by only checking the host bus speed and enabling wakeup interrupts when acting as host. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: qcom: fix use-after-free on runtime-PM wakeupJohan Hovold2-1/+14
The Qualcomm dwc3 runtime-PM implementation checks the xhci platform-device pointer in the wakeup-interrupt handler to determine whether the controller is in host mode and if so triggers a resume. After a role switch in OTG mode the xhci platform-device would have been freed and the next wakeup from runtime suspend would access the freed memory. Note that role switching is executed from a freezable workqueue, which guarantees that the pointer is stable during suspend. Also note that runtime PM has been broken since commit 2664deb09306 ("usb: dwc3: qcom: Honor wakeup enabled/disabled state"), which incidentally also prevents this issue from being triggered. 2022-08-18Revert "usb: dwc3: qcom: Keep power domain on to retain controller status"Johan Hovold1-21/+7
This reverts commit d9be8d5c5b032e5383ff5c404ff4155e9c705429. Generic power-domain flags must be set before the power-domain is initialised and must specifically not be modified by drivers for devices that happen to be in the domain. To make sure that USB power-domains are left enabled during system suspend when a device in the domain is in the wakeup path, the GENPD_FLAG_ACTIVE_WAKEUP flag should instead be set for the domain unconditionally when it is registered. Note that this also avoids keeping power-domains on during suspend when wakeup has not been enabled (e.g. through sysfs). For the runtime PM case, making sure that the PHYs are not suspended and that they are in the same domain as the controller prevents the domain from being suspended. If there are cases where this is not possible or desirable, the genpd implementation may need to be extended. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: fix PHY disable sequenceJohan Hovold1-9/+10
Generic PHYs must be powered-off before they can be tore down. Similarly, suspending legacy PHYs after having powered them off makes no sense. Fix the dwc3_core_exit() (e.g. called during suspend) and open-coded dwc3_probe() error-path sequences that got this wrong. Note that this makes dwc3_core_exit() match the dwc3_core_init() error path with respect to powering off the PHYs. 2022-07-14usb: dwc3: core: Do not perform GCTL_CORE_SOFTRESET during bootupRohith Kollalsi1-3/+7
According to the programming guide, it is recommended to perform a GCTL_CORE_SOFTRESET only when switching the mode from device to host or host to device. However, it is found that during bootup when __dwc3_set_mode() is called for the first time, GCTL_CORESOFTRESET is done with suspendable bit(BIT 17) of DWC3_GUSB3PIPECTL set. This some times leads to issues like controller going into bad state and controller registers reading value zero. Until GCTL_CORESOFTRESET is done and run/stop bit is set core initialization is not complete. Setting suspendable bit of DWC3_GUSB3PIPECTL and then performing GCTL_CORESOFTRESET is therefore not recommended. Avoid this by only performing the reset if current_dr_role is set, that is, when doing subsequent role switching. 2022-07-14usb: dwc3: ep0: Properly handle setup_packet_pending scenario in data stageWesley Cheng1-0/+7
During a 3 stage SETUP transfer, if the host sends another SETUP token before completing the status phase, it signifies that the host has aborted the current control transfer. Currently, if a setup_packet_pending is received, there are no subsequent calls to dwc3_ep0_out_start() to fetch the new SETUP packet. This leads to a stall on EP0, as host does not expect another STATUS phase as it has aborted the current transfer. Fix this issue by explicitly stalling and restarting EP0, as well as resetting the trb_enqueue indexes. 2022-06-29usb: dwc3: gadget: Fix event pending checkThinh Nguyen1-1/+3
The DWC3_EVENT_PENDING flag is used to protect against invalid call to top-half interrupt handler, which can occur when there's a delay in software detection of the interrupt line deassertion. However, the clearing of this flag was done prior to unmasking the interrupt line, creating opportunity where the top-half handler can come. This breaks the serialization and creates a race between the top-half and bottom-half handler, resulting in losing synchronization between the controller and the driver when processing events. To fix this, make sure the clearing of the DWC3_EVENT_PENDING is done at the end of the bottom-half handler. 2022-06-21usb: dwc3: core: Host wake up support from system suspendSandeep Maheswaram1-6/+3
Check wakeup-source property for dwc3 core node to set the wakeup capability. Drop the device_init_wakeup call from runtime suspend and resume. If the dwc3 is wakeup capable, don't power down the USB PHY(s). The glue drivers are expected to take care of configuring the additional wakeup settings if needed based on the dwc3 wakeup capability status. In some SOC designs, powering off the PHY is resulting in higher leakage, so this patch save power on such boards. Some SoC(e.g NXP imx8MQ) may have a wrong default power down scale setting so need init it to be the correct value, the power down scale setting description in DWC3 databook: Power Down Scale (PwrDnScale) The USB3 suspend_clk input replaces pipe3_rx_pclk as a clock source to a small part of the USB3 core that operates when the SS PHY is in its lowest power (P3) state, and therefore does not provide a clock. The Power Down Scale field specifies how many suspend_clk periods fit into a 16 kHz clock period. When performing the division, round up the remainder. For example, when using an 8-bit/16-bit/32-bit PHY and 25-MHz Suspend clock, Power Down Scale = 25000 kHz/16 kHz = 13'd1563 (rounder up) So use the suspend clock rate to calculate it. 2022-06-10usb: dwc3: pci: Restore line lost in merge conflict resolutionStephan Gerhold1-0/+1
Commit 582ab24e096f ("usb: dwc3: pci: Set "linux,phy_charger_detect" property on some Bay Trail boards") added a new swnode similar to the existing ones for boards where the PHY handles charger detection. Unfortunately, the "linux,sysdev_is_parent" property got lost in the merge conflict resolution of commit ca9400ef7f67 ("Merge 5.17-rc6 into usb-next"). Now dwc3_pci_intel_phy_charger_detect_properties is the only swnode in dwc3-pci that is missing "linux,sysdev_is_parent". It does not seem to cause any obvious functional issues, but it's certainly unintended so restore the line to make the properties consistent again. 2022-06-10usb: dwc3: gadget: Fix IN endpoint max packet size allocationWesley Cheng1-11/+15
The current logic to assign the max packet limit for IN endpoints attempts to take the default HW value and apply the optimal endpoint settings based on it. However, if the default value reports a TxFIFO size large enough for only one max packet, it will divide the value and assign a smaller ep max packet limit. For example, if the default TxFIFO size fits 1024B, current logic will assign 1024/3 = 341B to ep max packet size. If function drivers attempt to request for an endpoint with a wMaxPacketSize of 1024B (SS BULK max packet size) then it will fail, as the gadget is unable to find an endpoint which can fit the requested size. Functionally, if the TxFIFO has enough space to fit one max packet, it will be sufficient, at least when initializing the endpoints. In this situation, usb_ep_disable() gets the chance to clear endpoint descriptor pointer which leds to the null pointer dereference problem. So needs to move the null pointer check to a proper place. 2022-05-19usb: dwc3: Fix ep0 handling when getting reset while doing control transferMayank Rana3-5/+35
According to the databook ep0 should be in setup phase during reset. If host issues reset between control transfers, ep0 will be in an invalid state. Fix this by issuing stall and restart on ep0 if it is not in setup phase. Also SW needs to complete pending control transfer and setup core for next setup stage as per data book. Hence check ep0 state during reset interrupt handling and make sure active transfers on ep0 out/in endpoint are stopped by queuing ENDXFER command for that endpoint and restart ep0 out again to receive next setup packet. The driver shouldn't be able to issue End Transfer to the control endpoint at anytime. Typically we should only do so in error cases such as invalid/unexpected direction of Data Phase as described in the control transfer flow of the programming guide. It _may_ end started data phase during controller deinitialization from soft disconnect or driver removal. However, that should not happen because the driver should be maintained in EP0_SETUP_PHASE during driver tear-down. On soft-connect, the controller should be reset from a soft-reset and there should be no issue starting the control endpoint. To be safe, let's keep the check here regardless whether the udc core is fixed. 2022-05-05usb: dwc3: xilinx: Add gpio-reset supportPiyush Mehta1-0/+17
This patch adds a USB GPIO based reset for dwc3-xilinx driver. The PHY needs to be reset after the completion of phy initialization. As part of the reset, check for gpio-reset binding before toggling the pin. This feature is advantageous when the user toggle GPIO to trigger the ULPI-PHY reset. Delay of milliseconds is added in between low and high to meet the setup and hold time requirement of the reset. The reset-gpio error handling is added for error notification. Some GPIO controllers must be accessed using message-based buses, like I2C or SPI, to address this problem, updates GPIO access with sleep API. This reset is specific to the zynqMp. 2022-05-05usb: dwc3: host: Stop setting the ACPI companionHeikki Krogerus1-2/+0
It is no longer needed. The sysdev pointer is now used when assigning the ACPI companions to the xHCI ports and USB devices. Assigning the ACPI companion here resulted in the fwnode->secondary pointer to be replaced also for the parent dwc3 device since the primary fwnode (the ACPI companion) was shared. That was unintentional and it created potential side effects like resource leaks.
