2023-02-08tty: pcn_uart: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup()Greg Kroah-Hartman1-1/+1
When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic at once. 2023-01-19serial: pch_uart: Pass correct sg to dma_unmap_sg()Ilpo Järvinen1-1/+1
A local variable sg is used to store scatterlist pointer in pch_dma_tx_complete(). The for loop doing Tx byte accounting before dma_unmap_sg() alters sg in its increment statement. Therefore, the pointer passed into dma_unmap_sg() won't match to the one given to dma_map_sg(). To fix the problem, use priv->sg_tx_p directly in dma_unmap_sg() instead of the local variable. 2022-11-22serial: pch: Fix PCI device refcount leak in pch_request_dma()Xiongfeng Wang1-0/+4
As comment of pci_get_slot() says, it returns a pci_device with its refcount increased. The caller must decrement the reference count by calling pci_dev_put(). Since 'dma_dev' is only used to filter the channel in filter(), we can call pci_dev_put() before exiting from pch_request_dma(). Add the missing pci_dev_put() for the normal and error path. It's horrid and if we inline it into callers, we can get rid of a lot of sugar around. So: * x_char handling becomes a single iowrite8. * xmit->buf handling is a single loop simply writing characters one by one directly from the buf instead of complex cnt_to_end computations. Until the buf is empty or fifo size is reached. 2022-05-05serial: pch: don't overwrite xmit->buf[0] by x_charJiri Slaby1-20/+7
When x_char is to be sent, the TX path overwrites whatever is in the circular buffer at offset 0 with x_char and sends it using pch_uart_hal_write(). I don't understand how this was supposed to work if xmit->buf[0] already contained some character. It must have been lost. Remove this whole pop_tx_x() concept and do the work directly in the callers. (Without printing anything using dev_dbg().) 'count' is zero in the pop_tx()'s comparison against 'size'. So the 'if' tries to find out if 'size' is negative or zero and returns in that case. But it cannot be negative, due to previous (size < 0) check in the caller: handle_tx(). So simply move this check from pop_tx() to handle_tx(). Now it's clear that pop_tx() is called only if fifo_size is non-zero. 2022-03-03serial: make uart_console_write->putchar()'s character an unsigned charJiri Slaby1-1/+1
Currently, uart_console_write->putchar's second parameter (the character) is of type int. It makes little sense, provided uart_console_write() accepts the input string as "const char *s" and passes its content -- the characters -- to putchar(). So switch the character's type to unsigned char. We don't use char as that is signed on some platforms. That would cause troubles for drivers which (implicitly) cast the char to u16 when writing to the device. Sign extension would happen in that case and the value written would be completely different to the provided char. DZ is an example of such a driver -- on MIPS, it uses u16 for dz_out in dz_console_putchar(). Note we do the char -> uchar conversion implicitly in uart_console_write(). Provided we do not change size of the data type, sign extension does not happen there, so the problem is void. This makes the types consistent and unified with the rest of the uart layer, which uses unsigned char in most places already. One exception is xmit_buf, but that is going to be converted later. No need to keep around the dentry pointer for the debugfs file if all it is used for is to remove it when we are wanting to clean up, as the pointer can be looked up directly from debugfs instead. This also removes pointless #ifdef CONFIG_DEBUG_FS brackets as the compiler is smart enough to handle this properly if debugfs is disabled without us having to worry about it. 2020-07-21serial: pch_uart: use generic power managementVaibhav Gupta1-24/+10
Drivers using legacy PM have to manage PCI states and device's PM states themselves. They also need to take care of configuration registers. With improved and powerful support of generic PM, PCI Core takes care of above mentioned, device-independent, jobs. This driver makes use of PCI helper functions like pci_save/restore_state(), pci_enable_device() and pci_set_power_state() to do required operations. In generic mode, they are no longer needed. Change function parameter in both .suspend() and .resume() to "struct device*" type. Use dev_get_drvdata() to get drv data. Compile-tested only. Per Documentation/DMA-API-HOWTO.txt, To unmap a scatterlist, just call: dma_unmap_sg(dev, sglist, nents, direction); .. note:: The 'nents' argument to the dma_unmap_sg call must be the _same_ one you passed into the dma_map_sg call, it should _NOT_ be the 'count' value _returned_ from the dma_map_sg call. However in the driver, priv->nent is directly assigned with value returned from dma_map_sg, and dma_unmap_sg use priv->nent for unmap, this breaks the API usage. So introduce a new entry orig_nent to remember 'nents'. The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. 2017-11-08tty: serial: Remove redundant license textGreg Kroah-Hartman1-13/+0
Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. It used to be a gap in port definitions after PORT_MAX_8250. Since the new drivers are coming the gap become shorter and shorter until the commit a2d6a987bfe4 ("serial: 8250: Add new port type for TI DA8xx/66AK2x") completely removed it. So, while type here is just a formality, make things a little bit more explicit for this driver and move port types to UAPI header. Note, it uses two types for now. In (efe2f29 kgdboc,kdb: Allow kdb to work on a non open console port) support was added to directly use the "write_char" functions when doing kdb over a non-open console port. This is great, but it ends up bypassing the normal code in uart_console_write() that adds a carriage return before any newlines. There appears to have been a trend to add this support directly in some console driver's poll_put_char() functions. This had a few side effects, including: - In this case we were doing LFCR, not CRLF. This was fixed in uart_console_write() back in (d358788 [SERIAL] kernel console should send CRLF not LFCR) - Not all serial drivers had the LFCR code in their poll_put_char() functions. In my case I was running serial/samsung.c which lacked it. I've moved the handling to uart_poll_put_char() to fix the above problems.
