2016-07-15x86/uaccess: Move thread_info::addr_limit to thread_structAndy Lutomirski1-1/+1
struct thread_info is a legacy mess. To prepare for its partial removal, move thread_info::addr_limit out. As an added benefit, this way is simpler. 2013-05-01proc: Supply PDE attribute setting accessor functionsDavid Howells1-1/+1
Supply accessor functions to set attributes in proc_dir_entry structs. The following are supplied: proc_set_size() and proc_set_user(). 2013-04-09procfs: new helper - PDE_DATA(inode)Al Viro1-3/+1
The only part of proc_dir_entry the code outside of fs/proc really cares about is PDE(inode)->data. Provide a helper for that; static inline for now, eventually will be moved to fs/proc, along with the knowledge of struct proc_dir_entry layout. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <[email protected]>

2010-11-17BKL: remove extraneous #include <smp_lock.h>Arnd Bergmann1-1/+0
The big kernel lock has been removed from all these files at some point, leaving only the #include. Remove this too as a cleanup. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <[email protected]>
2010-09-26isapnp: BKL removalArnd Bergmann1-7/+8
Remove BKL use from isapnp_proc_bus_lseek(), like was done for proc_bus_pci_lseek() a long time ago and recently for Zorro by Geert Uytterhoeven. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <[email protected]> Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <[email protected]> Cc: Jaroslav Kysela <[email protected]>
2008-04-29drivers: use non-racy method for proc entries creation (2)Denis V. Lunev1-4/+3
Use proc_create()/proc_create_data() to make sure that ->proc_fops and ->data be setup before gluing PDE to main tree. Signed-off-by: Denis V. Remove proc_bus export and variable itself. Using pathnames works fine and is slightly more understandable and greppable. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <[email protected]>

2007-08-24PNP: remove MODULE infrastructureBjorn Helgaas1-45/+0
We don't support building any part of PNP as a module (*drivers* can be modules, of course, but the PNP infrastructure itself can not). Since MODULE will never be defined, remove the ifdefs and dead code. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 5Arjan van de Ven1-1/+1
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
