2022-05-09net: wwan: t7xx: Introduce power managementHaijun Liu8-1/+700
Implements suspend, resumes, freeze, thaw, poweroff, and restore `dev_pm_ops` callbacks. From the host point of view, the t7xx driver is one entity. But, the device has several modules that need to be addressed in different ways during power management (PM) flows. The driver uses the term 'PM entities' to refer to the 2 DPMA and 2 CLDMA HW blocks that need to be managed during PM flows. When a dev_pm_ops function is called, the PM entities list is iterated and the matching function is called for each entry in the list. 2022-05-09net: wwan: t7xx: Add data path interfaceHaijun Liu7-0/+2758
Data Path Modem AP Interface (DPMAIF) HIF layer provides methods for initialization, ISR, control and event handling of TX/RX flows. DPMAIF TX Exposes the 'dmpaif_tx_send_skb' function which can be used by the network device to transmit packets. The uplink data management uses a Descriptor Ring Buffer (DRB). First DRB entry is a message type that will be followed by 1 or more normal DRB entries. Message type DRB will hold the skb information and each normal DRB entry holds a pointer to the skb payload. DPMAIF RX The downlink buffer management uses Buffer Address Table (BAT) and Packet Information Table (PIT) rings. The BAT ring holds the address of skb data buffer for the HW to use, while the PIT contains metadata about a whole network packet including a reference to the BAT entry holding the data buffer address. The driver reads the PIT and BAT entries written by the modem, when reaching a threshold, the driver will reload the PIT and BAT rings. Control Port implements driver control messages such as modem-host handshaking, controls port enumeration, and handles exception messages. The handshaking process between the driver and the modem happens during the init sequence. The process involves the exchange of a list of supported runtime features to make sure that modem and host are ready to provide proper feature lists including port enumeration. 2022-05-09net: wwan: t7xx: Add control DMA interfaceHaijun Liu5-0/+1812
Cross Layer DMA (CLDMA) Hardware interface (HIF) enables the control path of Host-Modem data transfers. CLDMA HIF layer provides a common interface to the Port Layer. CLDMA manages 8 independent RX/TX physical channels with data flow control in HW queues. CLDMA uses ring buffers of General Packet Descriptors (GPD) for TX/RX. GPDs can represent multiple or single data buffers (DB). CLDMA HIF initializes GPD rings, registers ISR handlers for CLDMA interrupts, and initializes CLDMA HW registers. CLDMA TX flow: 1. Port Layer write 2. Get DB address 3. Configure GPD 4. Triggering processing via HW register write CLDMA RX flow: 1. CLDMA HW sends a RX "done" to host 2. Driver starts thread to safely read GPD 3. DB is sent to Port layer 4. Create a new buffer for GPD ring Note: This patch does not enable compilation since it has dependencies such as t7xx_pcie_mac_clear_int()/t7xx_pcie_mac_set_int() and struct t7xx_pci_dev which are added by the core patch. 2022-02-13net: wwan: iosm: Enable M.2 7360 WWAN card supportM Chetan Kumar10-78/+1033
This patch enables Intel M.2 7360 WWAN card support on IOSM Driver. Control path implementation is a reuse whereas data path implementation it uses a different protocol called as MUX Aggregation. The major portion of this patch covers the MUX Aggregation protocol implementation used for IP traffic communication. For M.2 7360 WWAN card, driver exposes 2 wwan AT ports for control communication. The user space application or the modem manager to use wwan AT port for data path establishment. During probe, driver reads the mux protocol device capability register to know the mux protocol version supported by device. Base on which the right mux protocol is initialized for data path communication. An overview of an Aggregation Protocol 1> An IP packet is encapsulated with 16 octet padding header to form a Datagram & the start offset of the Datagram is indexed into Datagram Header (DH). 2> Multiple such Datagrams are composed & the start offset of each DH is indexed into Datagram Table Header (DTH). 3> The Datagram Table (DT) is IP session specific & table_length item in DTH holds the number of composed datagram pertaining to that particular IP session. 4> And finally the offset of first DTH is indexed into DBH (Datagram Block Header). So in TX/RX flow Datagram Block (Datagram Block Header + Payload)is exchanged between driver & device. Signed-off-by: M Chetan Kumar <m.chetan.kumar@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2021-12-08net: wwan: make debugfs optionalSergey Ryazanov8-10/+61
Debugfs interface is optional for the regular modem use. Some distros and users will want to disable this feature for security or kernel size reasons. So add a configuration option that allows to completely disable the debugfs interface of the WWAN devices. A primary considered use case for this option was embedded firmwares. For example, in OpenWrt, you can not completely disable debugfs, as a lot of wireless stuff can only be configured and monitored with the debugfs knobs. At the same time, reducing the size of a kernel and modules is an essential task in the world of embedded software. Disabling the WWAN and IOSM debugfs interfaces allows us to save 50K (x86-64 build) of space for module storage. Not much, but already considerable when you only have 16MB of storage. So it is hard to just disable whole debugfs. Users need some fine grained set of options to control which debugfs interface is important and should be available and which is not. The new configuration symbol is enabled by default and is hidden under the EXPERT option. So a regular user would not be bothered by another one configuration question. While an embedded distro maintainer will be able to a little more reduce the final image size. 2021-11-29net: wwan: Add Qualcomm BAM-DMUX WWAN network driverStephan Gerhold3-0/+921
The BAM Data Multiplexer provides access to the network data channels of modems integrated into many older Qualcomm SoCs, e.g. Qualcomm MSM8916 or MSM8974. It is built using a simple protocol layer on top of a DMA engine (Qualcomm BAM) and bidirectional interrupts to coordinate power control. The modem announces a fixed set of channels by sending an OPEN command. The driver exports each channel as separate network interface so that a connection can be established via QMI from userspace. The network interface can work either in Ethernet or Raw-IP mode (configurable via QMI). However, Ethernet mode seems to be broken with most firmwares (network packets are actually received as Raw-IP), therefore the driver only supports Raw-IP mode. Note that the control channel (QMI/AT) is entirely separate from BAM-DMUX and is already supported by the RPMSG_WWAN_CTRL driver. The driver uses runtime PM to coordinate power control with the modem. TX/RX buffers are put in a kind of "ring queue" and submitted via the bam_dma driver of the DMAEngine subsystem. The basic architecture looks roughly like this: +------------+ +-------+ [IPv4/6] | BAM-DMUX | | | [Data...] | | | | ---------->|wwan0 | [DMUX chan: x] | | [IPv4/6] | (chan: 0) | [IPv4/6] | | [Data...] | | [Data...] | | ---------->|wwan1 |--------------->| Modem | | (chan: 1) | BAM | | [IPv4/6] | ... | (DMA Engine) | | [Data...] | | | | ---------->|wwan7 | | | | (chan: 7) | | | +------------+ +-------+ Note that some newer firmware versions support QMAP ("rmnet" driver) as additional multiplexing layer on top of BAM-DMUX, but this is not currently supported by this driver. 2021-11-22net: wwan: iosm: device trace collection using relayfsM Chetan Kumar8-13/+271
This patch brings in support for device trace collection. It implements relayfs interface for pushing device trace from kernel space to user space. Driver gets the debugfs base directory associated to WWAN Device and creates trace_control and trace debugfs for device tracing. Both trace_control & trace debugfs are created under /sys/kernel/debug/wwan/wwan0/. In order to collect device trace on trace0 interface, user need to write 1 to trace_ctl interface. 2021-11-22net: wwan: common debugfs base dir for wwan deviceM Chetan Kumar1-2/+28
This patch set brings in a common debugfs base directory i.e. /sys/kernel/debugfs/wwan/ in WWAN Subsystem for a WWAN device instance. So that it avoids driver polluting debugfs root with unrelated directories & possible name collusion. Having a common debugfs base directory for WWAN drivers eases user to match control devices with debugfs entries. WWAN Subsystem creates dentry (/sys/kernel/debugfs/wwan) on module load & removes dentry on module unload. When driver registers a new wwan device, dentry (wwanX) is created for WWAN device instance & on driver unregister dentry is removed. New API is introduced to return the wwan device instance dentry so that driver can create debugfs entries under it. This patch brings-in support for M.2 7560 Device firmware flashing & coredump collection using devlink. - Driver Registers with Devlink framework. - Register devlink params callback for configuring device params required in flashing or coredump flow. - Implements devlink ops flash_update callback that programs modem firmware. - Creates region & snapshot required for device coredump log collection. On early detection of device in boot rom stage. Driver registers with Devlink framework and establish transport channel for PSI (Primary Signed Image) injection. Once PSI is injected to device, the device execution stage details are read to determine whether device is in flash or exception mode. The collected information is reported to devlink user space application & based on this informationi, application proceeds with either modem firmware flashing or coredump collection.
