2018-05-29rtlwifi: use sk_buff to queue C2H commandsPing-Ke Shih1-2/+1
We use 'struct rtl_c2hcmd' to store C2H commands originally, and the code is slightly complex to enqueue and dequeue and also wastes time to allocate and memcpy data. Since C2H commands are asynchronous events, they can be processed in work queue, so RX ISR enqueues C2H result in removal of rtl_c2h_packet_handler(). 2018-05-29rtlwifi: support accurate nullfunc frame tx ack reportTzu-En Huang1-5/+8
In order to realize the keep-alive mechanism in mac80211 stack, reporting accurate tx ack status for nullfunc frame is added in this commit. If current frame is nullfunc frame, we ask firmware to report by filling TX report bit in TX descriptor. After this frame DMA done, TX interrupt is triggered but TX status is unknown at this moment, so enqueue this skb into tx_report->queue. Finally, C2H report will be received if the frame is transmitted successfully or retried over, and then we report to mac80211 with IEEE80211_TX_STAT_ACK flag only if it's successful. Otherwise, if failure or timeout (one second), we report to mac80211 without this flag. 2018-04-05headers: untangle kmemleak.h from mm.hRandy Dunlap1-1/+0
Currently <linux/slab.h> #includes <linux/kmemleak.h> for no obvious reason. It looks like it's only a convenience, so remove kmemleak.h from slab.h and add <linux/kmemleak.h> to any users of kmemleak_* that don't already #include it. Also remove <linux/kmemleak.h> from source files that do not use it. This is tested on i386 allmodconfig and x86_64 allmodconfig. It would be good to run it through the 0day bot for other $ARCHes. I have neither the horsepower nor the storage space for the other $ARCHes. Update: This patch has been extensively build-tested by both the 0day bot & kisskb/ozlabs build farms. Both of them reported 2 build failures for which patches are included here (in v2). [ slab.h is the second most used header file after module.h; kernel.h is right there with slab.h. 2018-01-24rtlwifi: btcoex: Add wifi_only series ops to control solo cardPing-Ke Shih1-2/+6
Originally, btcoex controls the antenna of combo card, but solo card is also needed to setup properly. The new ops are named with suffix '_wifi_only' opposited to original btc_ops, and new structures and definitions are also introduced. The wifi_only oly contains four ops that are initial variable, hw config, scan notify, and switch band notify. 2018-01-08rtlwifi: Improve debugging by using debugfsPing-Ke Shih1-0/+6
Use debugfs to dump register and btcoex status, and also write registers and h2c. We create topdir in /sys/kernel/debug/rtlwifi/, and use the MAC address as subdirectory with several entries to dump mac_reg, bb_reg, rf_reg etc. An example is /sys/kernel/debug/rtlwifi/00-11-22-33-44-55-66/mac_0 This change permits examination of device registers in a dynamic manner, a feature not available with the current debug mechanism. 2017-12-07rtlwifi: Convert individual interrupt results to structLarry Finger1-24/+23
With the RTL8822BE and later devices, the number of interrupt vectors has grown from 2 to 4. At this point, saving and passing those vectors in a struct makes more sense than using individual scaler variables. In two of the drivers, code to process the second of the interrupt registers was included, but commented out. This patch removes those useless sections. 2017-01-20rtlwifi: Convert COMP_XX entries into a proper debugging maskLarry Finger1-10/+0
The debugging macros contain a parameter COMP_XX that could be used as a mask; however, the code turns all these various bits on at the same time. This change implements them as a proper mask, and adds module parameters to set the mask at load time. The current name "debug" for the debug level has been changed to "debug_level" to better differentiate it from "debug_mask". The debug routines have also been changed to interrogate the structure that is loaded at entry time. As a result, the structure rtl_debug is no longer needed, and all references to it are deleted. 2016-12-30rtlwifi: Replace local debug macro RT_ASSERTLarry Finger1-6/+6
This macro can be replaced with WARN_ONCE. In addition to using a standard debugging macro for these critical errors, we also get a stack dump. In rtl8821ae/hw.c, a senseless comment was removed, and an incorrect indentation was fixed. This patch also fixes two places in each of rtl8192ee, rtl8723be, and rtl8821ae where the logical condition was incorrect. 2016-11-29rtlwifi: Fix enter/exit power_saveLarry Finger1-9/+5
In commit a5ffbe0a1993 ("rtlwifi: Fix scheduling while atomic bug") and commit a269913c52ad ("rtlwifi: Rework rtl_lps_leave() and rtl_lps_enter() to use work queue"), an error was introduced in the power-save routines due to the fact that leaving PS was delayed by the use of a work queue. This problem is fixed by detecting if the enter or leave routines are in interrupt mode. If so, the workqueue is used to place the request. If in normal mode, the enter or leave routines are called directly. 2016-03-07rtlwifi: pass struct rtl_stats by reference as it is more efficientColin Ian King1-1/+1
passing rtl_stats by value is inefficient; the structure is over 300 bytes in size and generally just one field (packet_report_type) is being accessed, so the pass by value is a relatively large overhead. This change just affects just the rx_command_packet calls. Calling synchronize_irq() right before free_irq() is quite useless. On one hand the IRQ can easily fire again before free_irq() is entered, on the other hand free_irq() itself calls synchronize_irq() internally (in a race condition free way), before any state associated with the IRQ is freed. 2015-12-30rtlwifi: rtl_pci: Fix kernel panicLarry Finger1-8/+3
In commit 38506ecefab9 (rtlwifi: rtl_pci: Start modification for new drivers), a bug was introduced that causes a NULL pointer dereference. As this bug only affects the infrequently used RTL8192EE and only under low-memory conditions, it has taken a long time for the bug to show up. The bug was reported on the linux-wireless mailing list and also at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/ as bug #1527603 (kernel crashes due to rtl8192ee driver on ubuntu 15.10). 2015-10-14rtlwifi: rtl818x: Move drivers into new realtek directoryLarry Finger1-0/+2478
Now that a new mac80211-based driver for Realtek devices has been submitted, it is time to reorganize the directories. Rather than having directories rtlwifi and rtl818x be in drivers/net/wireless/, they will now be in drivers/net/wireless/realtek/. This change simplifies the directory structure, but does not result in any configuration changes that are visable to the user.
