2021-11-15iavf: free q_vectors before queues in iavf_disable_vfNicholas Nunley1-1/+1
iavf_free_queues() clears adapter->num_active_queues, which iavf_free_q_vectors() relies on, so swap the order of these two function calls in iavf_disable_vf(). This resolves a panic encountered when the interface is disabled and then later brought up again after PF communication is restored. 2021-11-15iavf: check for null in iavf_fix_featuresNicholas Nunley1-1/+2
If the driver has lost contact with the PF then it enters a disabled state and frees adapter->vf_res. However, ndo_fix_features can still be called on the interface, so we need to check for this condition first. Since we have no information on the features at this time simply leave them unmodified and return. 2021-10-29iavf: Fix kernel BUG in free_msi_irqsPrzemyslaw Patynowski2-0/+56
Fix driver not freeing VF's traffic irqs, prior to calling pci_disable_msix in iavf_remove. There were possible 2 erroneous states in which, iavf_close would not be called. One erroneous state is fixed by allowing netdev to register, when state is already running. It was possible for VF adapter to enter state loop from running to resetting, where iavf_open would subsequently fail. If user would then unload driver/remove VF pci, iavf_close would not be called, as the netdev was not registered, leaving traffic pcis still allocated. Fixed this by breaking loop, allowing netdev to open device when adapter state is __IAVF_RUNNING and it is not explicitily downed. Other possiblity is entering to iavf_remove from __IAVF_RESETTING state, where iavf_close would not free irqs, but just return 0. Fixed this by checking for last adapter state and then removing irqs. Add a new field in iavf_mac_filter, to indicate whether there was response from PF for given filter. Based on this field pass or discard the filter. If untrusted VF tried to change it's address, it's not changed. Still filter was changed, because of that ping couldn't go through. As follow-up to the discussion with Jakub Kicinski about iavf locking being insufficient [1] convert iavf to use mutexes instead of bitops. The locking logic is kept as is, just a drop-in replacement of enum iavf_critical_section_t with separate mutexes. The only difference is that the mutexes will be destroyed before the module is unloaded. 2021-07-19iavf: fix locking of critical sectionsStefan Assmann1-7/+50
To avoid races between iavf_init_task(), iavf_reset_task(), iavf_watchdog_task(), iavf_adminq_task() as well as the shutdown and remove functions more locking is required. The current protection by __IAVF_IN_CRITICAL_TASK is needed in additional places. - The reset task performs state transitions, therefore needs locking. - The adminq task acts on replies from the PF in iavf_virtchnl_completion() which may alter the states. - The init task is not only run during probe but also if a VF gets stuck to reinitialize it. - The shutdown function performs a state transition. - The remove function performs a state transition and also free's resources. iavf_lock_timeout() is introduced to avoid waiting infinitely and cause a deadlock. Rather unlock and print a warning. Signed-off-by: Stefan Assmann <[email protected]> Tested-by: Konrad Jankowski <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Tony Nguyen <[email protected]>
2021-07-19iavf: do not override the adapter state in the watchdog taskStefan Assmann1-1/+0
The iavf watchdog task overrides adapter->state to __IAVF_RESETTING when it detects a pending reset. Then schedules iavf_reset_task() which takes care of the reset. The reset task is capable of handling the reset without changing adapter->state. In fact we lose the state information when the watchdog task prematurely changes the adapter state. This may lead to a crash if instead of the reset task the iavf_remove() function gets called before the reset task. In that case (if we were in state __IAVF_RUNNING previously) the iavf_remove() function triggers iavf_close() which fails to close the device because of the incorrect state information. This may result in a crash due to pending interrupts. kernel BUG at drivers/pci/msi.c:357! 2021-03-22iavf: Enable flex-bytes supportHaiyue Wang3-2/+327
Flex-bytes allows for packet matching based on an offset and value. This is supported via the ethtool user-def option. The offset ranges from 0x0 to 0x1F7 (up to 504 bytes into the packet). The offset starts from the beginning of the packet. This feature can be used to allow customers to set flow director rules for protocols headers that are beyond standard ones supported by ethtool (e.g. PFCP or GTP-U). 2020-12-17iavf: fix double-release of rtnl_lockJakub Kicinski1-3/+1
This code does not jump to exit on an error in iavf_lan_add_device(), so the rtnl_unlock() from the normal path will follow. Rejecting non-native endian BTF overlapped with the addition of support for it. The rest were more simple overlapping changes, except the renesas ravb binding update, which had to follow a file move as well as a YAML conversion. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <[email protected]>
2020-09-25intel-ethernet: clean up W=1 warnings in kdocJesse Brandeburg4-14/+14
This takes care of all of the trivial W=1 fixes in the Intel Ethernet drivers, which allows developers and maintainers to build more of the networking tree with more complete warning checks. There are three classes of kdoc warnings fixed: - cannot understand function prototype: 'x' - Excess function parameter 'x' description in 'y' - Function parameter or member 'x' not described in 'y' All of the changes were trivial comment updates on function headers. Inspired by Lee Jones' series of wireless work to do the same. Compile tested only, and passes simple test of $ git ls-files *.[ch] | egrep drivers/net/ethernet/intel | \ xargs scripts/kernel-doc -none Signed-off-by: Jesse Brandeburg <[email protected]> Tested-by: Aaron Brown <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. 2020-09-25iavf: Fix incorrect adapter get in iavf_resumeSylwester Dziedziuch1-2/+2
When calling iavf_resume there was a crash because wrong function was used to get iavf_adapter and net_device pointers. 2020-07-30iavf: use generic power managementVaibhav Gupta1-33/+12
With the support of generic PM callbacks, drivers no longer need to use legacy .suspend() and .resume() in which they had to maintain PCI states changes and device's power state themselves. The required operations are done by PCI core. PCI drivers are not expected to invoke PCI helper functions like pci_save/restore_state(), pci_enable/disable_device(), pci_set_power_state(), etc. Their tasks are completed by PCI core itself. Compile-tested only. Signed-off-by: Vaibhav Gupta <[email protected]> Tested-by: Andrew Bowers <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Tony Nguyen <[email protected]>
2020-07-01iavf: Fix updating statisticsTony Nguyen1-1/+4
Commit bac8486116b0 ("iavf: Refactor the watchdog state machine") inverted the logic for when to update statistics. Statistics should be updated when no other commands are pending, instead they were only requested when a command was processed. iavf_request_stats() would see a pending request and not request statistics to be updated. This caused statistics to never be updated; fix the logic. 2020-06-25net/intel: remove driver versions from Intel driversJeff Kirsher4-23/+1
As with other networking drivers, remove the unnecessary driver version from the Intel drivers. The ethtool driver information and module version will then report the kernel version instead. For ixgbe, i40e and ice drivers, the driver passes the driver version to the firmware to confirm that we are up and running. So we now pass the value of UTS_RELEASE to the firmware. This adminq call is required per the HAS document. The Device then sends an indication to the BMC that the PF driver is present. This is done using Host NC Driver Status Indication in NC-SI Get Link command or via the Host Network Controller Driver Status Change AEN. What the BMC may do with this information is implementation-dependent, but this is a standard NC-SI 1.1 command we honor per the HAS.
