2017-10-10e1000e: apply burst mode settings only on defaultWillem de Bruijn1-1/+15
Devices that support FLAG2_DMA_BURST have different default values for RDTR and RADV. Apply burst mode default settings only when no explicit value was passed at module load. The RDTR default is zero. If the module is loaded for low latency operation with RxIntDelay=0, do not override this value with a burst default of 32. Move the decision to apply burst values earlier, where explicitly initialized module variables can be distinguished from defaults. 2014-03-07e1000e: Fix not generating an error on invalid load parameterDavid Ertman1-0/+6
Valid values for InterruptThrottleRate are 10-100000, or one of 0, 1, 3, 4. '2' is not valid. This is a legacy from the branching from the e1000 driver code that e1000e was based from. Prior to this patch, if the e1000e driver was loaded with a forced invalid InterruptThrottleRate of '2', then no throttle rate would be set and no error message generated. Now, a message will be generated that an invalid value was used and the value for InterruptThrottleRate will be set to the default value. 2012-12-07drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman1-2/+2
The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. In 'net' we added a bug fix to make iwlwifi report a more accurate skb->truesize but this conflicted with RX path changes that happened meanwhile in net-next. 2012-04-24e1000e: Fix default interrupt throttle rate not set in NIC HWJeff Kirsher1-46/+53
Based on the original patch from Ying Cai <[email protected]> This change ensures that the itr/itr_setting adjustment logic is used, even for the default/compiled-in value. Context: When we changed the default InterruptThrottleRate value from default (3 = dynamic mode) to 8000 for example, only adapter->itr_setting (which controls interrupt coalescing mode) was set to 8000, but adapter->itr (which controls the value set in NIC register) was not updated accordingly. So from ethtool, it seemed the interrupt throttling is enabled at 8000 intr/s, but the NIC actually was running in dynamic mode which has lower CPU efficiency especially when throughput is not high. 2012-02-24e1000e: Support RXFCS feature flag.Ben Greear1-1/+4
This enables enabling/disabling reception of the Ethernet FCS. This can be useful when sniffing packets. For e1000e, enabling RXFCS can change the default behaviour for how the NIC handles CRC. Disabling RXFCS will take the NIC back to defaults, which can be configured as part of the module options.
