2020-06-25net/intel: remove driver versions from Intel driversJeff Kirsher1-2/+0
As with other networking drivers, remove the unnecessary driver version from the Intel drivers. The ethtool driver information and module version will then report the kernel version instead. For ixgbe, i40e and ice drivers, the driver passes the driver version to the firmware to confirm that we are up and running. So we now pass the value of UTS_RELEASE to the firmware. This adminq call is required per the HAS document. The Device then sends an indication to the BMC that the PF driver is present. This is done using Host NC Driver Status Indication in NC-SI Get Link command or via the Host Network Controller Driver Status Change AEN. What the BMC may do with this information is implementation-dependent, but this is a standard NC-SI 1.1 command we honor per the HAS. 2018-08-24e1000: ensure to free old tx/rx rings in set_ringparam()Bo Chen1-2/+2
In 'e1000_set_ringparam()', the tx_ring and rx_ring are updated with new value and the old tx/rx rings are freed only when the device is up. There are resource leaks on old tx/rx rings when the device is not up. This bug is reported by COD, a tool for testing kernel module binaries I am building. This patch fixes the bug by always calling 'kfree()' on old tx/rx rings in 'e1000_set_ringparam()'. 2018-08-24e1000: check on netif_running() before calling e1000_up()Bo Chen1-1/+2
When the device is not up, the call to 'e1000_up()' from the error handling path of 'e1000_set_ringparam()' causes a kernel oops with a null-pointer dereference. The null-pointer dereference is triggered in function 'e1000_alloc_rx_buffers()' at line 'buffer_info = &rx_ring->buffer_info[i]'. This bug was reported by COD, a tool for testing kernel module binaries I am building. This bug was also detected by KFI from Dr. Kai Cong. This patch fixes the bug by checking on 'netif_running()' before calling 'e1000_up()' in 'e1000_set_ringparam()'. 2018-06-12treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()Kees Cook1-2/+2
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). Currently if the stat type is invalid then data[i] is being set either by dereferencing a null pointer p, or it is reading from an incorrect previous location if we had a valid stat type previously. Fix this by skipping over the read of p on an invalid stat type. 2016-04-06e1000: call ndo_stop() instead of dev_close() when running offline selftestStefan Assmann1-2/+2
Calling dev_close() causes IFF_UP to be cleared which will remove the interfaces routes and some addresses. That's probably not what the user intended when running the offline selftest. Besides this does not happen if the interface is brought down before the test, so the current behaviour is inconsistent. Instead call the net_device_ops ndo_stop function directly and avoid touching IFF_UP at all. e1000 uses the same metadata struct for Rx and Tx. But Tx and Rx have different requirements. For Rx, we only need to store a buffer and a DMA address. Follow-up patch will remove skb for Rx, bringing rx_buffer_info down to 16 bytes on x86_64. __GFP_ZERO is an uncommon flag and perhaps is better not used. static inline dma_zalloc_coherent exists so convert the uses of dma_alloc_coherent with __GFP_ZERO to the more common kernel style with zalloc. Remove memset from the static inline dma_zalloc_coherent and add just one use of __GFP_ZERO instead. Trivially reduces the size of the existing uses of dma_zalloc_coherent. Realign arguments as appropriate.
