2013-08-29drivers:net: Convert dma_alloc_coherent(...__GFP_ZERO) to dma_zalloc_coherentJoe Perches1-2/+2
__GFP_ZERO is an uncommon flag and perhaps is better not used. static inline dma_zalloc_coherent exists so convert the uses of dma_alloc_coherent with __GFP_ZERO to the more common kernel style with zalloc. Remove memset from the static inline dma_zalloc_coherent and add just one use of __GFP_ZERO instead. Trivially reduces the size of the existing uses of dma_zalloc_coherent. Realign arguments as appropriate. 2013-05-25net: ethernet: use platform_{get,set}_drvdata()Jingoo Han1-4/+2
Use the wrapper functions for getting and setting the driver data using platform_device instead of using dev_{get,set}_drvdata() with &pdev->dev, so we can directly pass a struct platform_device. Also, unnecessary dev_set_drvdata() is removed, because the driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. 2013-03-17drivers:net: dma_alloc_coherent: use __GFP_ZERO instead of memset(, 0)Joe Perches1-2/+1
Reduce the number of calls required to alloc a zeroed block of memory. Trivially reduces overall object size. Other changes around these removals o Neaten call argument alignment o Remove an unnecessary OOM message after dma_alloc_coherent failure o Remove unnecessary gfp_t stack variable Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-03-15drivers:net: Remove dma_alloc_coherent OOM messagesJoe Perches1-6/+2
I believe these error messages are already logged on allocation failure by warn_alloc_failed and so get a dump_stack on OOM. Remove the unnecessary additional error logging. Around these deletions: o Alignment neatening. o Remove unnecessary casts of dma_alloc_coherent. o Hoist assigns from ifs. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-02-04ethernet: Remove unnecessary alloc/OOM messages, alloc cleanupsJoe Perches1-5/+2
alloc failures already get standardized OOM messages and a dump_stack. Convert kzalloc's with multiplies to kcalloc. Convert kmalloc's with multiplies to kmalloc_array. Fix a few whitespace defects. Convert a constant 6 to ETH_ALEN. Use parentheses around sizeof. Convert vmalloc/memset to vzalloc. Remove now unused size variables. 2012-12-07drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman1-2/+1
The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice surprise. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <[email protected]>
2012-12-03ibm/emac: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton1-3/+3
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. Signed-off-by: Bill Pemberton <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]>
2012-11-03drivers/net/ethernet/ibm/emac/mal.c: use WARNJulia Lawall1-4/+2
Use WARN rather than printk followed by WARN_ON(1), for conciseness. A simplified version of the semantic patch that makes this transformation is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @@ expression list es; @@ -printk( +WARN(1, es); -WARN_ON(1); // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David S. 2012-01-30drivers/net: fix up stale paths from driver reorgPaul Gortmaker1-1/+1
The reorganization of the driver layout in drivers/net left behind some stale paths in comments and in Kconfig help text. Bring them up to date. No actual change to any code takes place here. 2011-08-18net: fix IBM EMAC driver after rename.Tony Breeds1-3/+3
In commit 9aa3283595451ca093500ff0977b106e1f465586 (ehea/ibm*: Move the IBM drivers) the IBM_NEW_EMAC* were renames to IBM_EMAC* The conversion was incomplete so that even if the driver was added to the .config it wasn't built, but there were no errors). In this commit we also update the various defconfigs that use EMAC to use the new Kconfig symbol, and explicitly add the NET_VENDOR_IBM guard. We do not explicitly select the Kconfig dependencies, as this would force EMAC on. Doing it in the defconfig allows more flexibility. Tested on a canyondlands board. 2011-08-11ehea/ibm*: Move the IBM driversJeff Kirsher1-0/+809
Move the IBM drivers into drivers/net/ethernet/ibm/ and make the necessary Kconfig and Makefile changes. - Renamed ibm_new_emac to emac - Cleaned up Makefile and Kconfig options which referred to IBM_NEW_EMAC to IBM_EMAC - ibmlana driver is a National Semiconductor SONIC driver so it was not moved CC: Christoph Raisch <[email protected]> CC: Santiago Leon <[email protected]> CC: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <[email protected]> CC: David Gibson <[email protected]> CC: Kyle Lucke <[email protected]> CC: Michael Ellerman <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Jeff Kirsher <[email protected]>
