2007-05-02[POWERPC] apm_emu: Use generic apm-emulationJohannes Berg1-477/+44
This patch removes a huge amount of code that is now in common code in drivers/char/apm-emulation.c Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <[email protected]> Acked-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <[email protected]>
2007-03-26[POWERPC] powermac: disallow pmu sleep notifiers from aborting sleepJohannes Berg1-9/+4
Tracing through the code, no current PMU sleep notifier can abort sleep. Since no new PMU sleep notifiers should be added, this patch simplifies the code and removes the ability to abort sleep. 2007-02-13[POWERPC] move variables in drivers/macintosh to bssOlaf Hering1-1/+1
Move all the initialized variables to bss. Mark a version string as const. Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <[email protected]>
2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 4Arjan van de Ven1-1/+1
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-12-13[PATCH] getting rid of all casts of k[cmz]alloc() callsRobert P. J. Day1-1/+1
Run this: #!/bin/sh for f in $(grep -Erl "\([^\)]*\) *k[cmz]alloc" *) ; do echo "De-casting $f..." perl -pi -e "s/ ?= ?\([^\)]*\) *(k[cmz]alloc) *\(/ = \1\(/" $f done And then go through and reinstate those cases where code is casting pointers to non-pointers. And then drop a few hunks which conflicted with outstanding work. 2006-12-07[PATCH] Correct misc_register return code handling in several driversNeil Horman1-1/+2
Clean up several code points in which the return code from misc_register is not handled properly. Several modules failed to deregister various hooks when misc_register fails, and this patch cleans them up. Also there are a few modules that legitimately don't care about the failure status of misc register. These drivers however unilaterally call misc_deregister on module unload. Since misc_register doesn't initialize the list_head in the init_routine if it fails, the deregister operation is at risk for oopsing when list_del is called. The initial solution was to manually init the list in the miscdev structure in each of those modules, but the consensus in this thread was to consolodate and do that universally inside misc_register. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
