2023-09-11IB: Use capital "OR" for multiple licenses in SPDXKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+1
Documentation/process/license-rules.rst and checkpatch expect the SPDX identifier syntax for multiple licenses to use capital "OR". Correct it to keep consistent format and avoid copy-paste issues. 2020-06-09mm: don't include asm/pgtable.h if linux/mm.h is already includedMike Rapoport1-1/+0
Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2. The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported architectures. Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils down to, e.g. static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address) { return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1); } static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address) { return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address); } These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined. For architectures that really need a custom version there is always possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic. These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table accessors to the new header. This patch (of 12): The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h> in the files that include <linux/mm.h>. The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop: for f in $(git grep -l "include <linux/mm.h>") ; do sed -i -e '/include <asm\/pgtable.h>/ d' $f done Signed-off-by: Mike Rapoport <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <[email protected]> Cc: Arnd Bergmann <[email protected]> Cc: Borislav Petkov <[email protected]> Cc: Brian Cain <[email protected]> Cc: Catalin Marinas <[email protected]> Cc: Chris Zankel <[email protected]> Cc: "David S. 2020-04-24IB/rdmavt: Always return ERR_PTR from rvt_create_mmap_info()Sudip Mukherjee1-2/+2
The commit below modified rvt_create_mmap_info() to return ERR_PTR's but didn't update the callers to handle them. Modify rvt_create_mmap_info() to only return ERR_PTR and fix all error checking after rvt_create_mmap_info() was called. 2019-04-01IB: Pass only ib_udata in function prototypesShamir Rabinovitch1-6/+10
Now when ib_udata is passed to all the driver's object create/destroy APIs the ib_udata will carry the ib_ucontext for every user command. There is no need to also pass the ib_ucontext via the functions prototypes. Make ib_udata the only argument psssed. 2017-03-24infiniband: Fix alignment of mmap cookies to support VIPT cachingJason Gunthorpe1-2/+2
When vmalloc_user is used to create memory that is supposed to be mmap'd to user space, it is necessary for the mmap cookie (eg the offset) to be aligned to SHMLBA. This creates a situation where all virtual mappings of the same physical page share the same virtual cache index and guarantees VIPT coherence. Otherwise the cache is non-coherent and the kernel will not see writes by userspace when reading the shared page (or vice-versa). 2016-03-10IB/rdmavt: Remove unnecessary exported functionsDennis Dalessandro1-4/+0
Remove exported functions which are no longer required as the functionality has moved into rdmavt. This also requires re-ordering some of the functions since their prototype no longer appears in a header file. Rather than add forward declarations it is just cleaner to re-order some of the functions. 2016-03-10IB/rdmavt: Clean up comments and add more documentationDennis Dalessandro1-7/+21
Add, remove, and otherwise clean up existing comments that are leftover from the initial code postings of rdmavt. Many of the comments were added to provide an idea on the direction we were thinking of going. Now that the design is solidified make a pass over and clean everything up. Also add details where lacking. Ensure all non static functions have nano comments.
