2018-11-09drm/vc4: Prefer PPF over TPZ when dst >= 2/3 srcBoris Brezillon1-4/+4
The HVS spec recommends using PPF when the downscaling ratio is between 2/3 and 1. Let's modify vc4_get_scaling_mode() to follow this recommendation. 2018-11-09drm/vc4: ->x_scaling[1] should never be set to VC4_SCALING_NONEBoris Brezillon1-5/+7
For the YUV conversion to work properly, ->x_scaling[1] should never be set to VC4_SCALING_NONE, but vc4_get_scaling_mode() might return VC4_SCALING_NONE if the horizontal scaling ratio exactly matches the horizontal subsampling factor. Add a test to turn VC4_SCALING_NONE into VC4_SCALING_PPF when that happens. The old ->x_scaling[0] adjustment is dropped as I couldn't find any mention to this constraint in the spec and it's proven to be unnecessary (I tested various multi-planar YUV formats with scaling disabled, and all of them worked fine without this adjustment). 2018-10-24drm/vc4: Set ->is_yuv to false when num_planes == 1Boris Brezillon1-0/+1
When vc4_plane_state is duplicated ->is_yuv is left assigned to its previous value, and we never set it back to false when switching to a non-YUV format. Fix that by setting ->is_yuv to false in the 'num_planes == 1' branch of the vc4_plane_setup_clipping_and_scaling() function. Fixes: fc04023fafecf ("drm/vc4: Add support for YUV planes.") 2018-10-24drm/vc4: Fix X/Y positioning of planes using T_TILES modifierBoris Brezillon1-7/+43
X/Y positioning of T-format buffers is quite tricky and the current implementation was failing to position a plane using this format correctly when the CRTC X, Y or both X and Y offsets were negative. It was also failing when the SRC X/Y offsets were != 0. 2018-10-24drm/vc4: Move ->offsets[] adjustment out of setup_clipping_and_scaling()Boris Brezillon1-10/+16
The offset adjustment depends on the framebuffer modified, so let's just move this operation in the DRM_FORMAT_MOD_LINEAR case inside vc4_plane_mode_set(). This we'll be able to fix offset calculation for DRM_FORMAT_MOD_BROADCOM_VC4_T_TILED and DRM_FORMAT_MOD_BROADCOM_SANDXXX. 2018-10-24drm/vc4: Use drm_atomic_helper_check_plane_state() to simplify the logicBoris Brezillon1-50/+52

2018-09-25drm/vc4: Use drm_fbdev_generic_setup()Noralf Trønnes2-9/+2
The CMA helper is already using the drm_fb_helper_generic_probe part of the generic fbdev emulation. This patch makes full use of the generic fbdev emulation by using its drm_client callbacks. This means that drm_mode_config_funcs->output_poll_changed and drm_driver->lastclose are now handled by the emulation code. Additionally fbdev unregister happens automatically on drm_dev_unregister(). The drm_fbdev_generic_setup() call is put after drm_dev_register() in the driver. This is done to highlight the fact that fbdev emulation is an internal client that makes use of the driver, it is not part of the driver as such. If fbdev setup fails, an error is printed, but the driver succeeds probing. drm_fbdev_generic_setup() handles mode_config.num_connector being zero. In that case it retries fbdev setup on the next .output_poll_changed. 2018-09-10drm/vc4: Fix the "no scaling" case on multi-planar YUV formatsBoris Brezillon1-13/+12
When there's no scaling requested ->is_unity should be true no matter the format. Also, when no scaling is requested and we have a multi-planar YUV format, we should leave ->y_scaling[0] to VC4_SCALING_NONE and only set ->x_scaling[0] to VC4_SCALING_PPF. Doing this fixes an hardly visible artifact (seen when using modetest and a rather big overlay plane in YUV420). Fixes: fc04023fafec ("drm/vc4: Add support for YUV planes.") 2018-08-08drm/vc4: Use __drm_atomic_helper_plane_reset instead of copying the logicAlexandru Gheorghe1-3/+1

2018-07-07drm/vc4: Use wait_for_flip_done() instead of wait_for_vblanks()Boris Brezillon1-10/+1
drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_vblanks() assumes the CRTC will continuously generate VBLANK events and the vblank counter will keep increasing. While this work for a regular pipeline, it doesn't when you have the CRTC is feeding the transposer block, because this block works in oneshot mode, and, by the time we reach drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_vblanks() the only VBLANK event might have already been sent and the VBLANK counter will stay unchanged, thus triggering a timeout. Luckily, we can replace the drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_vblanks() call by drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_flip_done() because the only thing we want to check when calling drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_vblanks() from vc4_atomic_complete_commit() is that new FBs are in use and the old ones can be safely released. 2018-06-12treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()Kees Cook1-1/+1
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kmalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kmalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; 2018-05-31drm/vc4: Add support for SAND modifier.Dave Stevenson2-7/+83
This is the format generated by VC4's H.264 engine, and preferred by the ISP as well. By displaying SAND buffers directly, we can avoid needing to use the ISP to rewrite the SAND H.264 output to linear before display. This is a joint effort by Dave Stevenson (who wrote the initial patch and DRM demo) and Eric Anholt (drm_fourcc.h generalization, safety checks, RGBA support). v2: Make the parameter macro give all of the middle 48 bits (suggested by Daniels). Fix fourcc_mod_broadcom_mod()'s bits/shift being swapped. Mark NV12/21 as supported, not YUV420. Daniel's format_mod_supported() patch predated Dave's for NV21/61, and I didn't catch that when rebasing. 2018-05-17drm/vc4: plane: Expand the lower bits by repeating the higher bitsMaxime Ripard1-0/+1
The vc4 HVS uses an internal RGB888 representation of the frames, and will by default expand formats using a lower depth using zeros. This causes an issue when we try to use other compositing software such as pixman that fill the missing bits by repeating the higher significant bits. As such, we can't check the display output in a reliable way by doing a software composition and an hardware one and compare both. To prevent this, force the same behaviour so that we can do such things.
