2022-02-07dma-buf-map: Rename to iosys-mapLucas De Marchi1-0/+1
Rename struct dma_buf_map to struct iosys_map and corresponding APIs. Over time dma-buf-map grew up to more functionality than the one used by dma-buf: in fact it's just a shim layer to abstract system memory, that can be accessed via regular load and store, from IO memory that needs to be acessed via arch helpers. The idea is to extend this API so it can fulfill other needs, internal to a single driver. Example: in the i915 driver it's desired to share the implementation for integrated graphics, which uses mostly system memory, with discrete graphics, which may need to access IO memory. 2021-12-02drm/radeon/radeon_kms: Fix a NULL pointer dereference in ↵Zhou Qingyang1-16/+20
radeon_driver_open_kms() In radeon_driver_open_kms(), radeon_vm_bo_add() is assigned to vm->ib_bo_va and passes and used in radeon_vm_bo_set_addr(). In radeon_vm_bo_set_addr(), there is a dereference of vm->ib_bo_va, which could lead to a NULL pointer dereference on failure of radeon_vm_bo_add(). Fix this bug by adding a check of vm->ib_bo_va. This bug was found by a static analyzer. The analysis employs differential checking to identify inconsistent security operations (e.g., checks or kfrees) between two code paths and confirms that the inconsistent operations are not recovered in the current function or the callers, so they constitute bugs. Note that, as a bug found by static analysis, it can be a false positive or hard to trigger. Multiple researchers have cross-reviewed the bug. Builds with CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m show no new warnings, and our static analyzer no longer warns about this code. 2021-11-27drm: Move nomodeset kernel parameter to the DRM subsystemJavier Martinez Canillas1-2/+1
The "nomodeset" kernel cmdline parameter is handled by the vgacon driver but the exported vgacon_text_force() symbol is only used by DRM drivers. It makes much more sense for the parameter logic to be in the subsystem of the drivers that are making use of it. Let's move the vgacon_text_force() function and related logic to the DRM subsystem. While doing that, rename it to drm_firmware_drivers_only() and make it return true if "nomodeset" was used and false otherwise. This is a better description of the condition that the drivers are testing for. 2021-11-05drm/ttm: remove ttm_bo_vm_insert_huge()Jason Gunthorpe1-1/+1
The huge page functionality in TTM does not work safely because PUD and PMD entries do not have a special bit. get_user_pages_fast() considers any page that passed pmd_huge() as usable: if (unlikely(pmd_trans_huge(pmd) || pmd_huge(pmd) || pmd_devmap(pmd))) { And vmf_insert_pfn_pmd_prot() unconditionally sets entry = pmd_mkhuge(pfn_t_pmd(pfn, prot)); eg on x86 the page will be _PAGE_PRESENT | PAGE_PSE. As such gup_huge_pmd() will try to deref a struct page: head = try_grab_compound_head(pmd_page(orig), refs, flags); and thus crash. Thomas further notices that the drivers are not expecting the struct page to be used by anything - in particular the refcount incr above will cause them to malfunction. Thus everything about this is not able to fully work correctly considering GUP_fast. Delete it entirely. It can return someday along with a proper PMD/PUD_SPECIAL bit in the page table itself to gate GUP_fast. The two AMD drivers have their own custom offsetof() implementation that now triggers a warning with recent versions of clang: drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/radeon_atombios.c:133:14: error: performing pointer subtraction with a null pointer has undefined behavior [-Werror,-Wnull-pointer-subtraction] Change all the instances to use the normal offsetof() provided by the kernel that does not have this problem. 2021-09-07drm/radeon: Prefer kcalloc over open coded arithmeticLen Baker1-3/+3
As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes, and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar) function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors. So, refactor the code a bit to use the purpose specific kcalloc() function instead of the calculated size argument in the kzalloc() function. Move the functionality into ttm_tt_fini and ttm_bo_tt_destroy instead. We don't need this any more since we removed the unbind from the destroy code paths in the drivers. Also add a warning to ttm_tt_fini() if we try to fini a still populated TT object. v2: instead of reverting the patch move the functionality to different places. Print the name of the DRM driver when taking over fbdev devices. Makes the output to dmesg more consistent. Note that the driver name is only used for printing a string to the kernel log. No UAPI is affected by this change.
