2022-04-07dma-buf: add enum dma_resv_usage v4Christian König1-3/+5
This change adds the dma_resv_usage enum and allows us to specify why a dma_resv object is queried for its containing fences. Additional to that a dma_resv_usage_rw() helper function is added to aid retrieving the fences for a read or write userspace submission. This is then deployed to the different query functions of the dma_resv object and all of their users. When the write paratermer was previously true we now use DMA_RESV_USAGE_WRITE and DMA_RESV_USAGE_READ otherwise. v2: add KERNEL/OTHER in separate patch v3: some kerneldoc suggestions by Daniel v4: some more kerneldoc suggestions by Daniel, fix missing cases lost in the rebase pointed out by Bas. Always waiting for the exclusive fence resulted on some performance regressions. ktime_set(S,N) was required for the timespec storage type and is still useful for situations where a Seconds and Nanoseconds part of a time value needs to be converted. For anything where the Seconds argument is 0, this is pointless and can be replaced with a simple assignment. I plan to usurp the short name of struct fence for a core kernel struct, and so I need to rename the specialised fence/timeline for DMA operations to make room. A consensus was reached in https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2016-July/113083.html that making clear this fence applies to DMA operations was a good thing. Since then the patch has grown a bit as usage increases, so hopefully it remains a good thing! A variety of tweaks to the NVIF library interfaces, mostly ripping out things that turned out to be not so useful. - Removed refcounting from nvif_object, callers are expected to not be stupid instead. - nvif_client is directly reachable from anything derived from nvif_object, removing the need for heuristics to locate it - _new() versions of interfaces, that allocate memory for the object they construct, have been removed. The vast majority of callers used the embedded _init() interfaces. - No longer storing constructor arguments (and the data returned from nvkm) inside nvif_object, it's more or less unused and just wastes memory. This is a lot of prep-work for being able to send event notifications back to userspace. Events now contain data, rather than a "something just happened" signal. Handler data is now embedded into a containing structure, rather than being kmalloc()'d, and can optionally have the notify routine handled in a workqueue.
