2020-04-18drm/i915: Refactor setting dma info to a common helperMichael J. Ruhl1-34/+60
DMA_MASK bit values are different for different generations. This will become more difficult to manage over time with the open coded usage of different versions of the device. Fix by: disallow setting of dma mask in AGP path (< GEN(5) for i915, add dma_mask_size to the device info configuration, updating open code call sequence to the latest interface, refactoring into a common function for setting the dma segment and mask info Reviewed-by: Chris Wilson <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Michael J. 2020-04-17drm/i915: Add missing deinitialization cases of load failureJosé Roberto de Souza1-11/+14
The intel_display_power_put_async() used in TC cold sequences made easy to hit the missing deinitialization of driver in case of load failure as seen in the stack trace bellow. intel_modeset_driver_remove_noirq() had to be removed from i915_driver_modeset_remove_noirq() as those are different initialialition steps with IRQ and GEM initialization in between then. 2020-03-26drm/i915: Use drmm_add_final_kfreeDaniel Vetter1-1/+9
With this we can drop the final kfree from the release function. The mock device in the selftests needed it's pci_device split up from the drm_device. In the future we could simplify this again by allocating the pci_device as a managed allocation too. v2: I overlooked that i915_driver_destroy is also called in the unwind code of the error path. There we need a drm_dev_put. Similar for the mock object. Now the problem with that is that the drm_driver->release callbacks for both the real driver and the mock one assume everything has been set up. Hence going through that path for a partially set up driver will result in issues. Quickest fix is to disable the ->release() hook until the driver is fully initialized, and keep the onion unwinding. Long term would be cleanest to move everything over to drmm_ release actions, but that's a lot of work for a big driver like i915. Plus more core work needed first anyway. v3: Fix i915_drm pointer wrangling in mock_gem_device. Also switch over to start using drm_dev_put() to clean up even on the error path. Aside I think the current error path is leaking the allocation. v4: more fixes for intel-gfx-ci, some if it damage from v3 :-/ Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <[email protected]> Cc: Jani Nikula <[email protected]> Cc: Joonas Lahtinen <[email protected]> Cc: Rodrigo Vivi <[email protected]> Cc: Chris Wilson <[email protected]> Cc: Tvrtko Ursulin <[email protected]> Cc: Matthew Auld <[email protected]> Cc: Andi Shyti <[email protected]> Cc: Mika Kuoppala <[email protected]> Cc: Daniele Ceraolo Spurio <[email protected]> Cc: Daniel Vetter <[email protected]> Cc: Abdiel Janulgue <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected]

2020-03-26drm/i915: Don't clear drvdata in ->releaseDaniel Vetter1-5/+0
For two reasons: - The driver core clears this already for us after we're unloaded in __device_release_driver(). - It's way too late, the drm_device ->release callback might massively outlive the underlying physical device, since a drm_device can be kept alive by open drm_file or well really anything else userspace is still hanging onto. So if we clear this ourselves, we should clear it in the pci ->remove callback, not in the drm_device ->release callback. Looking at git history this was fixed in the driver core with commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d Author: Hans de Goede <[email protected]> Date: Wed May 23 00:09:34 2012 +0200 device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound v2: Cite the core fix in the commit message (Chris). v3: Fix commit message and unused variable warning (Jani). 2020-03-02drm/i915/psr: Force PSR probe only after full initializationJosé Roberto de Souza1-0/+3
Commit 60c6a14b489b ("drm/i915/display: Force the state compute phase once to enable PSR") was forcing the state compute too earlier causing errors because not everything was initialized, so here moving to the end of i915_driver_modeset_probe() when the display is all initialized. Also fixing the place where it disarm the force probe as during the atomic check phase errors could happen like the ones due locking and it would cause PSR to never be enabled if that happens. Leaving the disarm to the atomic commit phase, intel_psr_enable() or intel_psr_update() will be called even if the current state do not allow PSR to be enabled. v2: Check if intel_dp is null in intel_psr_force_mode_changed_set() v3: Check intel_dp before get dev_priv v4: - renamed intel_psr_force_mode_changed_set() to intel_psr_set_force_mode_changed() - removed the set parameter from intel_psr_set_force_mode_changed() - not calling intel_psr_set_force_mode_changed() from intel_psr_enable/update(), directly setting it after the same checks that intel_psr_set_force_mode_changed() does - moved intel_psr_set_force_mode_changed() arm call to i915_driver_modeset_probe() as it is a better for a PSR call, all the functions calls happening between the old and the new function call will cause issue [backported to v5.6-rc3] Fixes: 60c6a14b489b ("drm/i915/display: Force the state compute phase once to enable PSR") Closes: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/intel/issues/1151 Tested-by: Ross Zwisler <[email protected]> Reported-by: Ross Zwisler <[email protected]> Cc: Gwan-gyeong Mun <[email protected]> Cc: Jani Nikula <[email protected]> Cc: Anshuman Gupta <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Gwan-gyeong Mun <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: José Roberto de Souza <[email protected]> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected] Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected] (cherry picked from commit df1a5bfc16f3275a74f77d73375e69bc62c45c4b) Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <[email protected]>

2020-01-24drm: Release filp before global lockChris Wilson1-1/+1
The file is not part of the global drm resource and can be released prior to take the global mutex to drop the open_count (and potentially close) the drm device. As the global mutex is indeed global, not only within the device but across devices, a slow file release mechanism can bottleneck the entire system. However, inside drm_close_helper() there are a number of dev->driver callbacks that take the drm_device as the first parameter... Worryingly some of those callbacks may be (implicitly) depending on the global mutex. v2: Drop the debug message for the open-count, it's included with the drm_file_free() debug message -- and for good measure make that up as reading outside of the mutex. v3: Separate the calling of the filp cleanup outside of drm_global_mutex into a new drm_release_noglobal() hook, so that we can phase the transition. drm/savage relies on the global mutex, and there may be more, so be cautious. Bring sanitization completely underneath the umbrella of intel_gt, and perform it exclusively after suspend and before the next resume. Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <[email protected]> Acked-by: Andi Shyti <[email protected]> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected]
2019-12-22drm/i915/gt: Pull GT initialisation under intel_gt_init()Chris Wilson1-1/+0
Begin pulling the GT setup underneath a single GT umbrella; let intel_gt take ownership of its engines! As hinted, the complication is the lifetime of the probed engine versus the active lifetime of the GT backends. We need to detect the engine layout early and keep it until the end so that we can sanitize state on takeover and release.
