The 2023 architecture extensions include a large number of floating point
features, most of which simply add new instructions. Add hwcaps so that
userspace can enumerate these features.

Add a new regset to expose FPMR via ptrace. It is not added to the FPSIMD
registers since that structure is exposed elsewhere without any allowance
for extension we don't add there.

Expose FPMR in the signal context on systems where it is supported. The
kernel validates the exact size of the FPSIMD registers so we can't readily
add it to fpsimd_context without disruption.

FEAT_FPMR defines a new EL0 accessible register FPMR use to configure the
FP8 related features added to the architecture at the same time. Detect
support for this register and context switch it for EL0 when present.
Due to the sharing of responsibility for saving floating point state
between the host kernel and KVM FP8 support is not yet implemented in KVM
and a stub similar to that used for SVCR is provided for FPMR in order to
avoid bisection issues. To make it easier to share host state with the
hypervisor we store FPMR as a hardened usercopy field in uw (along with
some padding).

FEAT_FPMR provides a new generally accessible architectural register FPMR.
This is only accessible to EL0 and EL1 when HCRX_EL2.EnFPM is set to 1,
do this when the host is running. The guest part will be done along with
context switching the new register and exposing it via guest management.

Since commit 43a7206b0963 ("driver core: class: make class_register() take
a const *"), the driver core allows for struct class to be in read-only
memory, so move the tb_class structure to be declared at build time placing
it into read-only memory, instead of having to be dynamically allocated at
boot time.

lkp test robot reported unhandled relocation type: R_390_GOTPCDBL, when
kernel is built with -fno-PIE. relocs tool reads vmlinux and handles
absolute relocations. PC relative relocs doesn't need adjustment.
Also, the R_390_GOTPCDBL/R_390_GOTOFF64 relocations are present
currently only when KASAN is enabled.
The following program can create a R_390_GOTPCDBL/R_390_GOTOFF64 reloc
(with fPIE/fPIC).

The above example (built with -fPIC) was linked to one of the

With commit 36bbc5b4ffab ("cacheinfo: Allow early detection and population
of cache attributes") the shared cpu list for each cache level higher than
L1 is rebuilt even if the list already has been set up.
This is caused by the removal of the cpumask_empty() check within
cache_shared_cpu_map_setup().
However architectures can enforce that the shared cpu list is not rebuilt
by simply setting cpu_map_populated of the per cpu cache info structure to
true, which is also the fix for this problem.
Before:
$ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cache/index2/shared_cpu_list
0-7
After:
$ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cache/index2/shared_cpu_list

Upon calling the pkey module to (re-)derive an protected
key from a secure key the PAES implementation did a retry
3 times with an 1000 ms sleep after each failure. This
patch removes this retry loop - retries should be done
if needed in a lower layer but the consumer of the pkey
module functions should not be bothered with retries.

Currently only one PAI sampling event can be created and active
at any one time. The PMU device drivers store a pointer to this
event in their data structures even when the event is created
for counting and the PMU device driver reference to this counting
event is never needed.
Change this and assign the pointer to the PMU device driver
only when a sampling event is created.

Replace <linux/fb.h> with a forward declaration in <asm/backlight.h> to
resolve an unnecessary dependency. Remove pmac_backlight_curve_lookup()
and struct fb_info from source and header files. The function and the
framebuffer struct are unused. No functional changes.

Commit fc7a6209d571 ("bus: Make remove callback return void") forces
bus_type::remove be void-returned, it doesn't make much sense for any
bus based driver implementing remove callbalk to return non-void to
its caller.

With CONFIG_BUG=n, the 64-bit Book3S build fails with:

arch/powerpc/include/asm/book3s/64/pgtable-64k.h:51:1: error: no return statement in function returning non-void
Currently the body of the function is just BUG(), so when CONFIG_BUG=n
it is an empty function, leading to the error.
get_hugepd_cache_index() should never be called, the only call is behind
an is_hugepd() check, which is always false for this configuration.
Instead mark it as always inline, and change the BUG() to BUILD_BUG().
That should allow the compiler to see that the function is never called,
and therefore that it never returns, fixing the build error.

As TOP_OF_KERNEL_STACK_PADDING was defined as 0 on x86_64, it went
unnoticed that the initialization of the .sp field in INIT_THREAD and some
calculations in the low level startup code do not take the padding into
account.
FRED enabled kernels require a 16 byte padding, which means that the init
task initialization and the low level startup code use the wrong stack
offset.
Subtract TOP_OF_KERNEL_STACK_PADDING in all affected places to adjust for
this.

The riscv BPF JIT doesn't emit proper kCFI prologues for BPF programs
and struct_ops trampolines when CONFIG_CFI_CLANG is enabled.
This causes CFI failures when calling BPF programs and can even crash
the kernel due to invalid memory accesses.

and there are three types used (bool, int, unsigned log).

p4d_leaf() because p4d_leaf() is a global API, while p4d_large() is not.
Only x86 has p4d_leaf() defined as of now. So it also means after this
patch we removed all p4d_large() usages.

They're the same macros underneath. Drop pXd_is_leaf(), instead always use
pXd_leaf().
At the meantime, instead of renames, drop the pXd_is_leaf() fallback
definitions directly in arch/powerpc/include/asm/pgtable.h. because
similar fallback macros for pXd_leaf() are already defined in
include/linux/pgtable.h.

Patch series "mm/treewide: Replace pXd_large() with pXd_leaf()", v3.
These two APIs are mostly always the same. It's confusing to have both of
them. Merge them into one. Here I used pXd_leaf() only because
pXd_leaf() is a global API which is always defined, while pXd_large() is
not.
We have yet one more API that is similar which is pXd_huge(), but that's
even trickier, so let's do it step by step.
Some special cares are taken for ppc and x86, they're done as separate
cleanups first.
This patch (of 10):
The two definitions are the same. The only difference is that pXd_large()
is only defined with THP selected, and only on book3s 64bits.
Instead of implementing it twice, make pXd_large() a macro to pXd_leaf().
Define it unconditionally just like pXd_leaf(). This helps to prepare
merging the two APIs.

After commit 6326c26c1514 ("s390: convert various pgalloc functions to use
ptdescs"), there are still some positions that use page->{lru, index}
instead of ptdesc->{pt_list, pt_index}. In order to make the use of
ptdesc->{pt_list, pt_index} clearer, it would be better to convert them as
well.

Optimizing the initialization speed of 1G huge pages through
parallelization.
1G hugetlbs are allocated from bootmem, a process that is already very
fast and does not currently require optimization. Therefore, we focus on
parallelizing only the initialization phase in `gather_bootmem_prealloc`.
Here are some test results:

Most architectures only support a single hardcoded page size. In order
to ensure that each one of these sets the corresponding Kconfig symbols,
change over the PAGE_SHIFT definition to the common one and allow
only the hardware page size to be selected.

arc, arm64, parisc and powerpc all have their own Kconfig symbols
in place of the common CONFIG_PAGE_SIZE_4KB symbols. Change these
so the common symbols are the ones that are actually used, while
leaving the arhcitecture specific ones as the user visible
place for configuring it, to avoid breaking user configs.

With the instruction decoder, we are now able to decode and recognize
instructions with opcode extensions. There are more instructions in
these groups that can be boosted:
Group 2: ROL, ROR, RCL, RCR, SHL/SAL, SHR, SAR
Group 3: TEST, NOT, NEG, MUL, IMUL, DIV, IDIV
Group 4: INC, DEC (byte operation)
Group 5: INC, DEC (word/doubleword/quadword operation)
These instructions are not boosted previously because there are reserved
opcodes within the groups, e.g., group 2 with ModR/M.nnn == 110 is
unmapped. As a result, kprobes attached to them requires two int3 traps
as being non-boostable also prevents jump-optimization.
Some simple tests on QEMU show that after boosting and jump-optimization
a single kprobe on these instructions with an empty pre-handler runs 10x
faster (~1000 cycles vs. ~100 cycles).
Since these instructions are mostly ALU operations and do not touch
special registers like RIP, let's boost them so that we get the
performance benefit.

Both INT (INT n, INT1, INT3, INTO) and UD (UD0, UD1, UD2) serve special
purposes in the kernel, e.g., INT3 is used by KGDB and UD2 is involved
in LLVM-KCFI instrumentation. At the same time, attaching kprobes on
these instructions (particularly UD) will pollute the stack trace dumped
in the kernel ring buffer, since the exception is triggered in the copy
buffer rather than the original location.
Check for INT and UD in can_probe and reject any kprobes trying to
attach to these instructions.

The SEED CSR access from VS/VU mode (guest) will always trap to
HS-mode (KVM) when Zkr extension is available to the Guest/VM.
Forward this CSR access to KVM user space so that it can be
emulated based on the method chosen by VMM.

Borislav reported that one of his systems has a broken MADT table which
advertises eight present APICs and 24 non-present APICs in the same
package.
The non-present ones are considered hot-pluggable by the topology
evaluation code, which is obviously bogus as there is no way to hot-plug
within the same package.
As the topology evaluation code accounts for hot-pluggable CPUs in a
package, the maximum number of cores per package is computed wrong, which
in turn causes the uncore performance counter driver to access non-existing
MSRs. It will probably confuse other entities which rely on the maximum
number of cores and threads per package too.
Cure this by ignoring hot-pluggable APIC IDs within a present package.
In theory it would be reasonable to just do this unconditionally, but then
there is this thing called reality^Wvirtualization which ruins
everything. Virtualization is the only existing user of "physical" hotplug
and the virtualization tools allow the above scenario. Whether that is
actually in use or not is unknown.
As it can be argued that the virtualization case is not affected by the
issues which exposed the reported problem, allow the bogosity if the kernel
determined that it is running in a VM for now.
