The check for p == q is dead code because the proceeding switch statements jump to the end of the outer for-loop with continue statements. Remove the dead code. The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: kzalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kcalloc(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. To address the EBUSY fail of interrupt affinity settings in case that the previous setting has not been cleaned up yet, use the new apic_ack_irq() function instead of the special uv_ack_apic() implementation which is merily a wrapper around ack_APIC_irq(). 2018-03-28x86/platform/uv/BAU: Add APIC idt entryAndrew Banman1-2/+0
BAU uses the old alloc_initr_gate90 method to setup its interrupt. This fails silently as the BAU vector is in the range of APIC vectors that are registered to the spurious interrupt handler. As a consequence BAU broadcasts are not handled, and the broadcast source CPU hangs. Update BAU to use new idt structure. __flush_tlb_one_[user|kernel]() flush_tlb_single() and flush_tlb_one() sound almost identical, but they really mean "flush one user translation" and "flush one kernel translation". Rename them to flush_tlb_one_user() and flush_tlb_one_kernel() to make the semantics more obvious. [ I was looking at some PTI-related code, and the flush-one-address code is unnecessarily hard to understand because the names of the helpers are uninformative. The BAU confers no benefit to a UV system running with only one hub/socket. Permanently disable the BAU driver if there are less than two hubs online to avoid BAU overhead. We have observed failed boots on single-socket UV4 systems caused by BAU that are avoided with this patch. Also, while at it, consolidate initialization error blocks and fix a memory leak. Rather than passing all the contents of flush_tlb_info to flush_tlb_others(), pass a pointer to the structure directly. For consistency, this also removes the unnecessary cpu parameter from uv_flush_tlb_others() to make its signature match the other *flush_tlb_others() functions. This serves two purposes: - It will dramatically simplify future patches that change struct flush_tlb_info, which I'm planning to do. - struct flush_tlb_info is an adequate description of what to do for a local flush, too, so by reusing it we can remove duplicated code between local and remove flushes in a future patch. In preparation for making the clockevents core NTP correction aware, all clockevent device drivers must set ->min_delta_ticks and ->max_delta_ticks rather than ->min_delta_ns and ->max_delta_ns: a clockevent device's rate is going to change dynamically and thus, the ratio of ns to ticks ceases to stay invariant. Currently, the x86's uv rtc clockevent device is initialized as follows: clock_event_device_uv.min_delta_ns = NSEC_PER_SEC / sn_rtc_cycles_per_second; clock_event_device_uv.max_delta_ns = clocksource_uv.mask * (NSEC_PER_SEC / sn_rtc_cycles_per_second); This translates to a ->min_delta_ticks value of 1 and a ->max_delta_ticks value of clocksource_uv.mask. Initialize ->min_delta_ticks and ->max_delta_ticks with these values respectively. This patch alone doesn't introduce any change in functionality as the clockevents core still looks exclusively at the (untouched) ->min_delta_ns and ->max_delta_ns. As soon as this has changed, a followup patch will purge the initialization of ->min_delta_ns and ->max_delta_ns from this driver. On UV4, the destination agent verifies each message by checking the descriptor qualifier field of the message payload. Messages without this field set to 0x534749 will cause a hub error to assert. Split bau_message_payload into uv1_2_3 and uv4 versions to account for the different payload formats. Enforce the size of each field by using the appropriate u** integer type. Replace extraneous comments with KernelDoc comment. Printing kernel text addresses in stack dumps is of questionable value, especially now that address randomization is becoming common. It can be a security issue because it leaks kernel addresses. It also affects the usefulness of the stack dump. Linus says: "I actually spend time cleaning up commit messages in logs, because useless data that isn't actually information (random hex numbers) is actively detrimental. It makes commit logs less legible. It also makes it harder to parse dumps. It's not useful. That makes it actively bad. I probably look at more oops reports than most people. I have not found the hex numbers useful for the last five years, because they are just randomized crap. The stack content thing just makes code scroll off the screen etc, for example." The only real downside to removing these addresses is that they can be used to disambiguate duplicate symbol names. However such cases are rare, and the context of the stack dump should be enough to be able to figure it out. Some time ago, we brought our UV BIOS callback code up to speed with the new EFI memory mapping scheme, in commit: d1be84a232e3 ("x86/uv: Update uv_bios_call() to use efi_call_virt_pointer()") By leveraging some changes that I made to a few of the EFI runtime callback mechanisms, in commit: 80e75596079f ("efi: Convert efi_call_virt() to efi_call_virt_pointer()") This got everything running smoothly on UV, with the new EFI mapping code. However, this left one, small loose end, in that EFI_OLD_MEMMAP (a.k.a. efi=old_map) will no longer work on UV, on kernels that include the aforementioned changes. At the time this was not a major issue (in fact, it still really isn't), but there's no reason that EFI_OLD_MEMMAP *shouldn't* work on our systems. This commit adds a check into uv_bios_call(), to see if we have the EFI_OLD_MEMMAP bit set in efi.flags. If it is set, we fall back to using our old callback method, which uses efi_call() directly on the __va() of our function pointer. The BAU on UV4 does not need to maintain the payload queue tail pointer. Do not initialize the tail pointer MMR on UV4. Then we must switch on the UV version to control its usage, for which we use uvhub_version rather than is_uv*_hub because it is quicker/more concise.
