No need to BUG_ON() on the cache maintainance ops - they are no-ops by default, and there is nothing in the DMA API contract that prohibits calling them on sbus devices (even if such drivers are unlikely to ever appear). Similarly a dma_supported method that always returns 0 is rather pointless. The only thing that indicates is that no one ever calls the method on sbus devices. The function_graph_enter() function does the work of calling the function graph hook function and the management of the shadow stack, simplifying the work done in the architecture dependent prepare_ftrace_return(). Have sparc use the new code, and remove the shadow stack management as well as having to set up the trace structure. System call table generation script must be run to gener- ate unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table_32/64/c32.h files. This patch will have changes which will invokes the script. This patch will generate unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table- _32/64/c32.h files by the syscall table generation script invoked by parisc/Makefile and the generated files against the removed files must be identical. The generated uapi header file will be included in uapi/- asm/unistd.h and generated system call table header file will be included by kernel/systbls_32/64.S file. The system call tables are in different format in all architecture and it will be difficult to manually add, modify or delete the syscall table entries in the res- pective files. To make it easy by keeping a script and which will generate the uapi header and syscall table file. This change will also help to unify the implemen- tation across all architectures. The system call table generation script is added in kernel/syscalls directory which contain the scripts to generate both uapi header file and system call table files. The syscall.tbl will be input for the scripts. syscall.tbl contains the list of available system calls along with system call number and corresponding entry point. Add a new system call in this architecture will be possible by adding new entry in the syscall.tbl file. Adding a new table entry consisting of: - System call number. - ABI. - System call name. - Entry point name. - Compat entry name, if required. syscallhdr.sh and syscalltbl.sh will generate uapi header unistd_32/64.h and syscall_table_32/64/c32.h files respect- ively. Both .sh files will parse the content syscall.tbl to generate the header and table files. unistd_32/64.h will be included by uapi/asm/unistd.h and syscall_table_32/64/- c32.h is included by kernel/syscall.S - the real system call table. Right now if we get a corrupted user stack frame we do a do_exit(SIGILL) which is not helpful. If under a debugger, this behavior causes the inferior process to exit. So the register and other state cannot be examined at the time of the event. Instead, conditionally log a rate limited kernel log message and then force a SIGSEGV. 2018-10-22sparc: Improve VDSO instruction patching.David S. Miller1-3/+0
The current VDSO patch mechanism has several problems: 1) It assumes how gcc will emit a function, with a register window, an initial save instruction and then immediately the %tick read when compiling vread_tick(). There is no such guarantees, code generation could change at any time, gcc could put a nop between the save and the %tick read, etc. So this is extremely fragile and would fail some day. 2) It disallows us to properly inline vread_tick() into the callers and thus get the best possible code sequences. So fix this to patch properly, with location based annotations. We have to be careful because we cannot do it the way we do patches elsewhere in the kernel. Those use a sequence like: 1: insn .section .whatever_patch, "ax" .word 1b replacement_insn .previous This is a dynamic shared object, so that .word cannot be resolved at build time, and thus cannot be used to execute the patches when the kernel initializes the images. Even trying to use label difference equations doesn't work in the above kind of scheme: 1: insn .section .whatever_patch, "ax" .word . - 1b replacement_insn .previous The assembler complains that it cannot resolve that computation. The issue is that this is contained in an executable section. Borrow the sequence used by x86 alternatives, which is: 1: insn .pushsection .whatever_patch, "a" .word . - 1b, . - 1f .popsection .pushsection .whatever_patch_replacements, "ax" 1: replacement_insn .previous This works, allows us to inline vread_tick() as much as we like, and can be used for arbitrary kinds of VDSO patching in the future. 2018-10-12sparc: Fix single-pcr perf event counter management.David S. Miller1-4/+13
It is important to clear the hw->state value for non-stopped events when they are added into the PMU. Otherwise when the event is scheduled out, we won't read the counter because HES_UPTODATE is still set. This breaks 'perf stat' and similar use cases, causing all the events to show zero. This worked for multi-pcr because we make explicit sparc_pmu_start() calls in calculate_multiple_pcrs(). calculate_single_pcr() doesn't do this because the idea there is to accumulate all of the counter settings into the single pcr value. So we have to add explicit hw->state handling there. Like x86, we use the PERF_HES_ARCH bit to track truly stopped events so that we don't accidently start them on a reload. 2018-06-21bpf/error-inject/kprobes: Clear current_kprobe and enable preempt in kprobeMasami Hiramatsu1-3/+4
Clear current_kprobe and enable preemption in kprobe even if pre_handler returns !0. This simplifies function override using kprobes. Jprobe used to require to keep the preemption disabled and keep current_kprobe until it returned to original function entry. For this reason kprobe_int3_handler() and similar arch dependent kprobe handers checks pre_handler result and exit without enabling preemption if the result is !0. After removing the jprobe, Kprobes does not need to keep preempt disabled even if user handler returns !0 anymore. But since the function override handler in error-inject and bpf is also returns !0 if it overrides a function, to balancing the preempt count, it enables preemption and reset current kprobe by itself. That is a bad design that is very buggy. This fixes such unbalanced preempt-count and current_kprobes setting in kprobes, bpf and error-inject. Note: for powerpc and x86, this removes all preempt_disable from kprobe_ftrace_handler because ftrace callbacks are called under preempt disabled.
