2018-05-15powerpc/embedded6xx/hlwd-pic: Prevent interrupts from being handled by StarletJonathan Neuschäfer1-0/+5
The interrupt controller inside the Wii's Hollywood chip is connected to two masters, the "Broadway" PowerPC and the "Starlet" ARM926, each with their own interrupt status and mask registers. When booting the Wii with mini[1], interrupts from the SD card controller (IRQ 7) are handled by the ARM, because mini provides SD access over IPC. Linux however can't currently use or disable this IPC service, so both sides try to handle IRQ 7 without coordination. Let's instead make sure that all interrupts that are unmasked on the PPC side are masked on the ARM side; this will also make sure that Linux can properly talk to the SD card controller (and potentially other devices). If access to a device through IPC is desired in the future, interrupts from that device should not be handled by Linux directly. Because the two memory blocks (usually called MEM1 and MEM2) are not merged anymore, __request_region in kernel/resource.c will correctly allow reserving regions in the physical address space between MEM1 and MEM2, where many important peripherals are (GPIO, MMC, USB, ...). A previous change to __ioremap_caller in arch/powerpc/mm/pgtable_32.c ensures that multiple memblocks are properly considered in ioremap; this makes it unnecessary to set __allow_ioremap_reserved. 2018-04-01powerpc/wii: Explicitly configure GPIO owner for poweroff pinJonathan Neuschäfer1-0/+7
The Hollywood chipset's GPIO controller has two sets of registers: One for access by the PowerPC CPU, and one for access by the ARM coprocessor (but both are accessible from the PPC because the memory firewall (AHBPROT) is usually disabled when booting Linux, today). The wii_power_off function currently assumes that the poweroff GPIO pin is configured for use via the ARM side, but the upcoming GPIO driver configures all pins for use via the PPC side, breaking poweroff. Configure the owner register explicitly in wii_power_off to make wii_power_off work with and without the new GPIO driver. I think the Wii can be switched to the generic gpio-poweroff driver, after the GPIO driver is merged. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman2-0/+2
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2016-09-20powerpc: Remove all usages of NO_IRQMichael Ellerman3-5/+5
NO_IRQ has been == 0 on powerpc for just over ten years (since commit 0ebfff1491ef ("[POWERPC] Add new interrupt mapping core and change platforms to use it")). It's also 0 on most other arches. Although it's fairly harmless, every now and then it causes confusion when a driver is built on powerpc and another arch which doesn't define NO_IRQ. There's at least 6 definitions of NO_IRQ in drivers/, at least some of which are to work around that problem. So we'd like to remove it. This is fairly trivial in the arch code, we just convert: if (irq == NO_IRQ) to if (!irq) if (irq != NO_IRQ) to if (irq) irq = NO_IRQ; to irq = 0; return NO_IRQ; to return 0; And a few other odd cases as well. At least for now we keep the #define NO_IRQ, because there is driver code that uses NO_IRQ and the fixes to remove those will go via other trees. This converts all the 32-bit platforms to use the expanded device-tree which is a pretty mechanical change. Unlike 64-bit, the 32-bit kernel didn't rely on platform initializations to setup the MMU since it sets it up entirely before probe_machine() so the move has comparatively less consequences though it's a bigger patch. 2015-07-30genirq/irqdomain: Allow irq domain aliasingMarc Zyngier1-1/+2
It is not uncommon (at least with the ARM stuff) to have a piece of hardware that implements different flavours of "interrupts". A typical example of this is the GICv3 ITS, which implements standard PCI/MSI support, but also some form of "generic MSI". So far, the PCI/MSI domain is registered using the ITS device_node, so that irq_find_host can return it. On the contrary, the raw MSI domain is not registered with an device_node, making it impossible to be looked up by another subsystem (obviously, using the same device_node twice would only result in confusion, as it is not defined which one irq_find_host would return). A solution to this is to "type" domains that may be aliasing, and to be able to lookup an device_node that matches a given type. For this, we introduce irq_find_matching_host() as a superset of irq_find_host: struct irq_domain *irq_find_matching_host(struct device_node *node, enum irq_domain_bus_token bus_token); where bus_token is the "type" we want to match the domain against (so far, only DOMAIN_BUS_ANY is defined). This result in some moderately invasive changes on the PPC side (which is the only user of the .match method). This has otherwise no functionnal change. Remove slice_set_psize() which is not used. It was added in 3a8247cc2c85 "powerpc: Only demote individual slices rather than whole process" but was never used. Remove vsx_assist_exception() which is not used. It was added in ce48b2100785 "powerpc: Add VSX context save/restore, ptrace and signal support" but was never used. Remove generic_mach_cpu_die() which is not used. Its last caller was removed in 375f561a4131 "powerpc/powernv: Always go into nap mode when CPU is offline". Remove mpc7448_hpc2_power_off() and mpc7448_hpc2_halt() which are unused. These were introduced in c5d56332fd6c "[POWERPC] Add general support for mpc7448hpc2 (Taiga) platform" but were never used. This was partially found by using a static code analysis program called cppcheck. 2014-11-03powerpc: Convert power off logic to pm_power_offAlexander Graf3-3/+7
The generic Linux framework to power off the machine is a function pointer called pm_power_off. The trick about this pointer is that device drivers can potentially implement it rather than board files. Today on powerpc we set pm_power_off to invoke our generic full machine power off logic which then calls ppc_md.power_off to invoke machine specific power off. However, when we want to add a power off GPIO via the "gpio-poweroff" driver, this card house falls apart. That driver only registers itself if pm_power_off is NULL to ensure it doesn't override board specific logic. However, since we always set pm_power_off to the generic power off logic (which will just not power off the machine if no ppc_md.power_off call is implemented), we can't implement power off via the generic GPIO power off driver. To fix this up, let's get rid of the ppc_md.power_off logic and just always use pm_power_off as was intended. Then individual drivers such as the GPIO power off driver can implement power off logic via that function pointer. With this patch set applied and a few patches on top of QEMU that implement a power off GPIO on the virt e500 machine, I can successfully turn off my virtual machine after halt. 2014-04-28powerpc/legacy_serial: Support MVME5100 UARTS with shifted registersStephen Chivers1-0/+1
This patch adds support to legacy serial for UARTS with shifted registers. The MVME5100 Single Board Computer is a PowerPC platform that has 16550 style UARTS with register addresses that are 16 bytes apart (shifted by 4). Commit 309257484cc1a592e8ac5fbdd8cd661be2b80bf8 "powerpc: Cleanup udbg_16550 and add support for LPC PIO-only UARTs" added support to udbg_16550 for shifted registers by adding a "stride" parameter to the initialisation operations for Programmed IO and Memory Mapped IO. As a consequence it is now possible to use the services of legacy serial to provide early serial console messages for the MVME5100. An added benefit of this is that the serial console will always be "ttyS0" irrespective of whether the computer is fitted with extra PCI 8250 interface boards or not. I have tested this patch using the four PowerPC platforms available to me: MVME5100 - shifted registers, SAM440EP - unshifted registers, MPC8349 - unshifted registers, MVME4100 - unshifted registers. This processor/memory module was mostly used on ATCA blades and before that, on cPCI blades. It wasn't really user friendly, with custom non u-boot bootloaders (powerboot/motload) and no real way to recover corrupted boot flash (which was a common problem). As such, it had its day back before the big ppc --> powerpc move to device trees, and that was largely through commercial BSPs that started to dry up around 2007. Systems using one were largely in a "deploy and sustain" mode, so interest in upgrading to new kernels in the field was nil. Also, requiring 50A, 48V power supplies and a 2'x2'x2' ATCA chassis largely rules out any hobbyist/enthusiast interest. The point of all this, is that we might as well delete the in kernel files relating to this platform. No point in continuing to build it via walking the defconfigs or via linux-next testing. The MVME5100 is a 6U form factor VME64 computer with: - A single MPC7410 or MPC750 CPU - A HAWK Processor Host Bridge (CPU to PCI) and MultiProcessor Interrupt Controller (MPIC) - Up to 500Mb of onboard memory - A M48T37 Real Time Clock (RTC) and Non-Volatile Memory chip - Two 16550 compatible UARTS - Two Intel E100 Fast Ethernets - Two PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) Slots - PPCBug Firmware The HAWK PHB/MPIC is compatible with the MPC10x devices. There is no onboard disk support. This is usually provided by installing a PMC in first PMC slot. This patch revives the board support, it was present in early 2.6 series kernels. The board support in those days was by Matt Porter of MontaVista Software. CSC Australia has around 31 of these boards in service. The kernel in use for the boards is based on 2.6.31. The boards are operated without disks from a file server. This patch is based on linux-3.13-rc2 and has been boot tested. Only boards with 512 Mb of memory are known to work. The PCI core supports an offset per aperture nowadays but our arch code still has a single offset per host bridge representing the difference betwen CPU memory addresses and PCI MMIO addresses. This is a problem as new machines and hypervisor versions are coming out where the 64-bit windows will have a different offset (basically mapped 1:1) from the 32-bit windows. This fixes it by using separate offsets. In the long run, we probably want to get rid of that intermediary struct pci_controller and have those directly stored into the pci_host_bridge as they are parsed but this will be a more invasive change.
