2020-03-16KVM: Remove unnecessary asm/kvm_host.h includesPeter Xu1-1/+0
Remove includes of asm/kvm_host.h from files that already include linux/kvm_host.h to make it more obvious that there is no ordering issue between the two headers. linux/kvm_host.h includes asm/kvm_host.h to pick up architecture specific settings, and this will never change, i.e. including asm/kvm_host.h after linux/kvm_host.h may seem problematic, but in practice is simply redundant. DCR handling was only needed for 440 KVM. Since we removed it, we can also remove handling of DCR accesses. Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <[email protected]>
2012-04-08KVM: PPC: booke: category E.HV (GS-mode) supportScott Wood1-0/+6
Chips such as e500mc that implement category E.HV in Power ISA 2.06 provide hardware virtualization features, including a new MSR mode for guest state. The guest OS can perform many operations without trapping into the hypervisor, including transitions to and from guest userspace. Since we can use SRR1[GS] to reliably tell whether an exception came from guest state, instead of messing around with IVPR, we use DO_KVM similarly to book3s. Current issues include: - Machine checks from guest state are not routed to the host handler. - The guest can cause a host oops by executing an emulated instruction in a page that lacks read permission. Existing e500/4xx support has the same problem. Includes work by Ashish Kalra <[email protected]>, Varun Sethi <[email protected]>, and Liu Yu <[email protected]>. 2009-12-03KVM: powerpc: Fix BUILD_BUG_ON conditionHollis Blanchard1-1/+1
The old BUILD_BUG_ON implementation didn't work with __builtin_constant_p(). Fixing that revealed this test had been inverted for a long time without anybody noticing... Signed-off-by: Hollis Blanchard <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <[email protected]>

2008-12-31KVM: ppc: mostly cosmetic updates to the exit timing accounting codeHollis Blanchard1-3/+3
The only significant changes were to kvmppc_exit_timing_write() and kvmppc_exit_timing_show(), both of which were dramatically simplified. Signed-off-by: Hollis Blanchard <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <[email protected]>
2008-12-31KVM: ppc: Implement in-kernel exit timing statisticsHollis Blanchard1-0/+102
Existing KVM statistics are either just counters (kvm_stat) reported for KVM generally or trace based aproaches like kvm_trace. For KVM on powerpc we had the need to track the timings of the different exit types. While this could be achieved parsing data created with a kvm_trace extension this adds too much overhead (at least on embedded PowerPC) slowing down the workloads we wanted to measure. Therefore this patch adds a in-kernel exit timing statistic to the powerpc kvm code. These statistic is available per vm&vcpu under the kvm debugfs directory. As this statistic is low, but still some overhead it can be enabled via a .config entry and should be off by default. Since this patch touched all powerpc kvm_stat code anyway this code is now merged and simplified together with the exit timing statistic code (still working with exit timing disabled in .config).
