2021-11-01virtio-blk: validate num_queues during probeJason Wang1-0/+4
If an untrusted device neogitates BLK_F_MQ but advertises a zero num_queues, the driver may end up trying to allocating zero size buffers where ZERO_SIZE_PTR is returned which may pass the checking against the NULL. This will lead unexpected results. Fixing this by failing the probe in this case. 2021-11-01ALSA: virtio: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva1-3/+2
There is a regular need in the kernel to provide a way to declare having a dynamically sized set of trailing elements in a structure. Kernel code should always use “flexible array members”[1] for these cases. The older style of one-element or zero-length arrays should no longer be used[2]. Also, make use of the struct_size() helper in kzalloc(). 2021-11-01hwrng: virtio - don't wait on cleanupLaurent Vivier1-1/+6
When virtio-rng device was dropped by the hwrng core we were forced to wait the buffer to come back from the device to not have remaining ongoing operation that could spoil the buffer. But now, as the buffer is internal to the virtio-rng we can release the waiting loop immediately, the buffer will be retrieve and use when the virtio-rng driver will be selected again. This avoids to hang on an rng_current write command if the virtio-rng device is blocked by a lack of entropy. This allows to select another entropy source if the current one is empty. 2021-11-01hwrng: virtio - add an internal bufferLaurent Vivier1-10/+33
hwrng core uses two buffers that can be mixed in the virtio-rng queue. If the buffer is provided with wait=0 it is enqueued in the virtio-rng queue but unused by the caller. On the next call, core provides another buffer but the first one is filled instead and the new one queued. And the caller reads the data from the new one that is not updated, and the data in the first one are lost. To avoid this mix, virtio-rng needs to use its own unique internal buffer at a cost of a data copy to the caller buffer. 2021-11-01virtio-blk: avoid preallocating big SGL for dataMax Gurtovoy2-56/+101
No need to pre-allocate a big buffer for the IO SGL anymore. If a device has lots of deep queues, preallocation for the sg list can consume substantial amounts of memory. For HW virtio-blk device, nr_hw_queues can be 64 or 128 and each queue's depth might be 128. This means the resulting preallocation for the data SGLs is big. Switch to runtime allocation for SGL for lists longer than 2 entries. This is the approach used by NVMe drivers so it should be reasonable for virtio block as well. Runtime SGL allocation has always been the case for the legacy I/O path so this is nothing new. The preallocated small SGL depends on SG_CHAIN so if the ARCH doesn't support SG_CHAIN, use only runtime allocation for the SGL. Re-organize the setup of the IO request to fit the new sg chain mechanism. No performance degradation was seen (fio libaio engine with 16 jobs and 128 iodepth): IO size IOPs Rand Read (before/after) IOPs Rand Write (before/after) -------- --------------------------------- ---------------------------------- 512B 318K/316K 329K/325K 4KB 323K/321K 353K/349K 16KB 199K/208K 250K/275K 128KB 36K/36.1K 39.2K/41.7K Signed-off-by: Max Gurtovoy <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Israel Rukshin <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Reviewed-by: Feng Li <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <[email protected]> Tested-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Christoph Hellwig <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <[email protected]> # kconfig fixups Signed-off-by: Michael S. 2021-11-01parisc/firmware: add functions to retrieve TOC dataSven Schnelle2-0/+34
Add functions to retrieve TOC data from firmware both for 1.1 and 2.0 PDC. Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <[email protected]>
2021-11-01parisc: add PIM TOC data structuresSven Schnelle1-0/+22
These data structures describe the TOC data we get from firmware when issuing a PDC_PIM_TOC request. Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <[email protected]>
2021-11-01parisc: move virt_map macro to assembly.hSven Schnelle2-24/+25
This macro will also be used by the TOC code, so move it into asm/assembly.h to avoid duplication. Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Helge Deller <[email protected]>
2021-11-01parisc/unwind: fix unwinder when CONFIG_64BIT is enabledSven Schnelle1-7/+14
With 64 bit kernels unwind_special() is not working because it compares the pc to the address of the function descriptor. Add a helper function that compares pc with the dereferenced address. This fixes all of the backtraces on my c8000. Without this changes, a lot of backtraces are missing in kdb or the show-all-tasks command from /proc/sysrq-trigger. 2021-11-01parisc: Fix ptrace check on syscall returnHelge Deller1-1/+1
The TIF_XXX flags are stored in the flags field in the thread_info struct (TI_FLAGS), not in the flags field of the task_struct structure (TASK_FLAGS). It seems this bug didn't generate any important side-effects, otherwise it wouldn't have went unnoticed for 12 years (since v2.6.32).
