With get_page(page) look at that page __free_page(page) look at that page __free_page(page) which is not a good thing, to put it mildly. AFAICS, that ought to use the normal generic_pipe_buf_release() (aka page_cache_release(buf->page)), shouldn't it? [ SDR - As trace_pipe just allocates the page with alloc_page(GFP_KERNEL), and doesn't do anything special with it (no LRU logic). The __free_page() should be fine, as it wont actually free a page with reference count. Maybe there's a chance to leak memory? 2014-01-18ktest: Add BISECT_TRIES to bisect testSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)2-2/+36
For those cases that it takes several tries to hit a bug, it would be useful for ktest.pl to try a test multiple times before it considers the test as a pass. To accomplish this, BISECT_TRIES ktest config option has been added. It is default to one, as most of the time a bisect only needs to try a test once. But the user can now up this to make ktest run a given test multiple times. The first failure that is detected will set a bisect bad. It only repeats on success. Note, as with all race bugs, there's no guarantee that if it succeeds, it is really a good bisect. But it helps in case the bug is somewhat reliable. You can set BISECT_TRIES to zero, and all tests will be considered good, unless you also set BISECT_MANUAL. Suggested-by: "Paul E. 2014-01-17s390/bpf,jit: fix 32 bit divisions, use unsigned divide instructionsHeiko Carstens1-8/+8
The s390 bpf jit compiler emits the signed divide instructions "dr" and "d" for unsigned divisions. This can cause problems: the dividend will be zero extended to a 64 bit value and the divisor is the 32 bit signed value as specified A or X accumulator, even though A and X are supposed to be treated as unsigned values. The divide instrunctions will generate an exception if the result cannot be expressed with a 32 bit signed value. This is the case if e.g. the dividend is 0xffffffff and the divisor either 1 or also 0xffffffff (signed: -1). To avoid all these issues simply use unsigned divide instructions. 2014-01-17tcp: metrics: Avoid duplicate entries with the same destination-IPChristoph Paasch1-19/+32
Because the tcp-metrics is an RCU-list, it may be that two soft-interrupts are inside __tcp_get_metrics() for the same destination-IP at the same time. If this destination-IP is not yet part of the tcp-metrics, both soft-interrupts will end up in tcpm_new and create a new entry for this IP. So, we will have two tcp-metrics with the same destination-IP in the list. This patch checks twice __tcp_get_metrics(). First without holding the lock, then while holding the lock. Therefore, __this_cpu_write() should not operate on chpfirst, but rather on cache->percpu->first, just like __this_cpu_read() did before. In the eisa_probe() force_probe path, if we were unable to request slot resources (e.g., [io 0x800-0x8ff]), we skipped the slot with "Cannot allocate resource for EISA slot %d" before reading the EISA signature in eisa_init_device(). Commit 26abfeed4341 moved eisa_init_device() earlier, so we tried to read the EISA signature before requesting the slot resources, and this caused hangs during boot. 2014-01-17kernfs: associate a new kernfs_node with its parent on creationTejun Heo4-24/+34
Once created, a kernfs_node is always destroyed by kernfs_put(). Since ba7443bc656e ("sysfs, kernfs: implement kernfs_create/destroy_root()"), kernfs_put() depends on kernfs_root() to locate the ino_ida. kernfs_root() in turn depends on kernfs_node->parent being set for !dir nodes. This means that kernfs_put() of a !dir node requires its ->parent to be initialized. This leads to oops when a newly created !dir node is destroyed without going through kernfs_add_one() or after failing kernfs_add_one() before ->parent is set. kernfs_root() invoked from kernfs_put() will try to dereference NULL parent. Fix it by moving parent association to kernfs_new_node() from kernfs_add_one(). kernfs_new_node() now takes @parent instead of @root and determines the root from the parent and also sets the new node's parent properly. @parent parameter is removed from kernfs_add_one(). As there's no parent when creating the root node, __kernfs_new_node() which takes @root as before and doesn't set the parent is used in that case. This ensures that a kernfs_node in any stage in its life has its parent associated and thus can be put. Currently compressed audio streams are statically routed from the /dev to the DAI link. Some DSPs can route compressed data to multiple BE DAIs like they do for PCM data. 2014-01-17perf callchain: Spare double comparison of callchain first entryFrederic Weisbecker1-10/+10
When a new callchain child branch matches an existing one in the rbtree, the comparison of its first entry is performed twice: 1) From append_chain_children() on branch lookup 2) If 1) reports a match, append_chain() then compares all entries of the new branch against the matching node in the rbtree, and this comparison includes the first entry of the new branch again. Lets shortcut this by performing the whole comparison only from append_chain() which then returns the result of the comparison between the first entry of the new branch and the iterating node in the rbtree. However, it can be set even if CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is not set causing following warnings to be emitted: drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/netdev.c:6178:12: warning: ‘e1000_suspend’ defined but not used [-Wunused-function] drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/netdev.c:6185:12: warning: ‘e1000_resume’ defined but not used [-Wunused-function] To fix this make the hooks to be available only when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is set and remove CONFIG_PM wrapping from driver ops because this is already handled by SET_SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS() and SET_RUNTIME_PM_OPS().
